Through the Miracle of the Holy Bible

Four thousand years of sacred history-
The Bible was preserved by holy men
For its accounts of Christ's words and ministry
We treasure the old and new testament

Protected throughout the dark ages
Through countless conflicts of generations
These works still speak of Christ in its pages
Though it passed through many hands and translations

We owe so much for each man's inspired words
We owe so much to the many martyrs
Who served all their lives and made record
And... too, we revere those called the reformers

God does direct what His scriptures should say
He's whom we place our trust and confidence
We are blessed to have the holy bible today
Divinely, as it's not by chance or coincidence

Here we learn of the teachings of Jesus
Here love and obedience can increase
Honest study of holy words help us
On our quest to find perspective and peace

Tens of millions find God in the Bible
Here they find truth to feed and guide their faith
Their dream to have freedoms, were not idle
They sought to be led by God and not fate

When the bible went into the household
It helped each man to search which doctrines were true
Now more light and wisdom can and does unfold
Influenced by one who asked what to do

Prompted by words he read in the bible
He went alone to a grove, to God beseech
Now what happened next, there's no denial
God and Jesus came to Joseph to teach

Without the bible, where would mankind be?
It led Joseph, who was then schooled for manhood
From golden plates, he began translating
That God's church could be restored and His priesthood

Now we've the most correct of any book
For it was preserved and protected for our day
Translated by seers through which he would look
It's become the Bible's companion works, today

Now, we've another testament of Christ
As the world grows in knowledge of all kinds
We're thankful our father hears our cries
And that to every humble seeker- truth he finds

The bible is a pillar of our faith
And is a powerful witness of the Savior
It witnesses anew, and may God be praised
For the Latter- Days, we have help to endure!

Our Prophet, We Sustain and Pray For

Our prophet shared from his heart
In a remarkable session
Oh, the spirit we each felt
At this solemn occasion

This day, we were called to stand
Looking back and moving forward
We raised a sustaining hand
And our hands reached heavenward

Now we know, and we pray for
President Monson, our prophet
Whom we love and we support
What we've felt, we'll not forget!

May he be an instrument
To move forward this great work
May we value his judgment
And when called, may we not shirk

May he have continued health
As he travels the world over
May the church have sufficient wealth
To meet its needs, moreover

When he asks, may we hear it
As though, Thou, were the one calling
May he feel of our spirit
And find in us, we're willing

When life is precarious
Is there no balm in Gilead?
Temples- Thou has given us
Help us to go as we should.

He's pledged his life and his strength
To direct the church's affairs
Give his days sufficient length
Ease his burdens and his cares.

[Verse 1] Our prophet shared from his heart In a remarkable session Oh, the spirit we each felt At this solemn occasion! This day, we were called to stand Looking back and moving forward We raised a sustaining hand And our hands reached heavenward [Pre-Chorus] Now we know, and we pray for Our new president, our prophet Whom we love and we support What we've felt, we'll not forget! [Chorus] May he be an instrument To move forward this great work May we value his judgment And when called, may we not shirk (We hear him) (We stand with him) [Verse 2] May he have continued health As he travels the world over May the church have sufficient wealth To meet its needs, moreover When he asks, may we hear it As though, Thou, were the one calling May he feel of our spirit And find in us, we're willing [Pre-Chorus] When life is precarious Is there no balm in Gilead? Thinking of All I Have Been Given

Thinking of much I've been given
I prayed, gratefully, to share-
And it was as though a door opened from heaven
With rich treasures of blessings waiting there

For, I sensed, in all I'm regarding
There are messages from Him to be found
What, in life, could be more rewarding
Than feeling His love and presence surround

There is always an abundance Of reasons to give thanks The good in the bad circumstance See His hand in all things

[Verse 1]
Thinking of much I've been given
I prayed, gratefully, to share
And it was as though a door opened from heaven
With rich treasures of blessings waiting there

[Pre-Chorus]
For, I sensed, in all I'm regarding
There are messages from Thee to be found
What, in life, could be more rewarding
Than feeling Thy love and presence surround

[Chorus]
There is always an abundance
Of reasons to give thanks
There is always an abundance
For Thy mercy holds my days
The good in the bad circumstance
I see Thy hand in all things
There is always an abundance
Of reasons to give thanks

[Verse 2]
On the road where the questions linger
Light came, kinder than I knew
In the break of the bread, in the work of my hands
Love replaced doubts to faith anew

[Pre-Chorus]
And I keep my eyes on the small things
Every gift that meets my need
Every mercy that wakes up my morning
Every blessing that I did not see

[Chorus]
There is always an abundance
Of reasons to give thanks
There is always an abundance
When Thy mercy holds my days
The good in the bad circumstance
I see Thy  hand in all things
There is always an abundance
Of reasons to give thanks

[Bridge]
When the table looks bare
Thou art still there
When the night runs long
Thou make me strong
I will count what remains
And sing through the rain
I see Thy hand in all things
I see Thy hand in all things

[Final Chorus]
There is always an abundance
Of reasons to give thanks
There is always an abundance
For Thy mercy holds my days
The good in the bad circumstance
I see Thy hand in all things
There is always an abundance
Of reasons to give thanks

pondering President Monson's talk on gratitude

I randomly remembered this from the Holocaust:
The story of Corrie and Betsie ten Boom highlights the power of gratitude even in dire circumstances. During their time in the Ravensbrück concentration camp, the sisters faced horrific conditions, including infestations of fleas and lice. Despite their suffering, they chose to give thanks for these very pests. Betsie believed that the fleas allowed them to hold worship services without interruption from the guards, as the soldiers avoided their barracks due to the infestation
. This act of gratitude became a profound lesson in finding hope and purpose amidst despair, illustrating the strength of faith and resilience

Pray Always

Prayer, with loved ones invited
Brings us close. We are united
Can they substitute our own?
Where are heartfelt thoughts most grown?
The oft public and family prayers we give
Cannot be considered our sole motive

We ought to pray vocally
Even when said privately
Home teachers, they with priesthood
Can remind us that we should
Though amidst anxieties we attempt
Though darkness tells us not to and will tempt

The Lord cautioned Joseph Smith
Pray lest that which is wicked
Tries to deceive and over power you.
Through prayer, there's protection in all we do
Lest we find we are led into temptation
From the downed lines of communication

To those who are in trouble
Who feels their needs have doubled
What's the first thought one should say?
"Are you involved when you pray?"
There is knowledge God wants us to receive
Prayer is more powerful that we can conceive

For decisions in our lives
For direction as one strives
We can pray more fervently
Tenderly and honestly
Who will not gain love for His purposes?
As one demonstrates more faith and focuses

Enos wrestled before God
Now commissioned with the rod
He struggled with how he'd strayed
For sin's remission he prayed
When minutes turned to hours, turned to night
He heard the Lords voice after he cried with might

His soul was searching and reaching
While knocking, asking and pleading
He felt as though born again
The joy in his heart sunk in
He also prayed for all his families
Even though some were also enemies

He sought the lord out in prayer
How his soul hungered, he shared
Memory opened to his past
To the words his father cast
So earnest and determined was his soul
The spirit of repentance took a hold

'Our Father in Heaven
I seek to be forgiven
Help me forgive my debtors
And think on them as brothers
Help me to see each other, as Thou does
Help me to remember from where my start was

And when there is temptation
Help my communication
That evil may not have power
Keep me safe that very hour
For Thine is the power and the kingdom
Thine is the glory, forever. Amen'

Inbetween daily prayers said
May our minds and hearts be fed
May we have hope in all things
And call upon heavens blessings
Supplications, prayers and intercessions
Should, with gratitude, have inner sessions

Verse 1] Now commissioner, keeper of His Word Enos wrestled before God He struggled with how he'd strayed For sin's remission he prayed When minutes turned to hours, turned to night He heard the Lords voice after he cried with might [Pre-Chorus] His soul was searching and reaching While knocking, asking and pleading He felt as though born again The joy in his heart sunk in [Chorus] Our Father in Heaven I seek to be forgiven Help me forgive my debtors And think on them as brothers Help me to see each other, as Thou does Help me to remember from where my start was Our Father in Heaven I seek to be forgiven [Verse 2] And when there is temptation Help my communication That evil may not have power Keep me safe that very hour For Thine is the power and the kingdom Thine is the glory, forever. 9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
11 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
12 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
13 For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
forever. Amen.

D&C 93
49 What I say unto one I say unto all;
pray always lest that wicked one have power in you,
and remove you out of your place.

1 Tim. 2: 1
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks,
be made for all men;

D&C 20: 47, 51
47 And visit the house of each member,
and exhort them to pray vocally and in secret
and attend to all family duties.
• • •
51 And visit the house of each member,
exhorting them to pray vocally and in secret
and attend to all family duties.

D&C 19: 28
28 And again, I command thee
that thou shalt pray vocally
as well as in thy heart; yea, before the world
as well as in secret, in public as well as in private.

JS-H 1: 14
14 So, in accordance with this,
my determination to ask of God,
I retired to the woods to make the attempt.
It was on the morning of a beautiful, clear day,
early in the spring of eighteen hundred and twenty.
It was the first time in my life that I had made such
an attempt, for amidst all my anxieties I had never
as yet made the attempt to pray vocally.

A Clap of Thunder- Desert Rains

A clap of thunder
Came unannounced
And we ran for cover
For it was pronounced

It was just enough
To soak the hard ground
This rain from above
What a blessing grand!

This hot desert storm
In the midst of a drought
Is what we prayed for
In faith, with little doubt

God heard our prayers
He knows our needs
He feels. He cares
He hears.  He sees.

Verse 1] A clap of thunder Came unannounced And we ran for cover For it was pronounced It was just enough To soak the hard ground This rain from above What a blessing grand! [Pre-Chorus] This hot desert storm In the midst of a drought Is what we prayed for In faith, with little doubt God heard our prayers He knows our needs He feels. He cares He hears. He sees. [Chorus] He hears, He sees He hears, He sees What we need, He gives (what we need, He gives) He hears, He sees He hears, He sees Rain on the dry ground (rain on the dry ground) [Verse 2] The dust gave way To a softer place What was cracked and empty Was touched by grace We bowed our heads With tears in our eyes For mercy came down From the open skies [Pre-Chorus] This hot desert storm In the midst of a drought Is what we prayed for In faith, with little doubt God heard our prayers He knows our needs He feels. He cares He hears. He sees. [Chorus] He hears, He sees He hears, He sees What we need, He gives (what we need, He gives) He hears, He sees He hears, He sees Rain on the dry ground (rain on the dry ground) [Bridge] And if the sky stays still We will trust Him still If the well runs low We will trust Him still But when the thunder came And the storm broke through We knew every drop Was a promise true [Final Chorus] He hears, He sees He hears, He sees What we need, He gives (what we need, He gives) He hears, He sees He hears, He sees Rain on the dry ground (rain on the dry ground) He hears, He sees He hears, He sees Faith in the hard ground (faith in the hard ground)

Hear Him Answer

There's an answer for nearly anything

If you know where to search

The internet is forever offering

But, does it feel how you yearn?

Our God has ears that hear

And eyes that see within

Learn to feel His love near

Learn to speak with Him

Learn to hear Him answer

The path for this is clear:

Read His word, pray, and serve

Through faith, impressions begin

Maybe through a word

A feeling or a thought

Through the spirit heard

As we seek to be taught

[Verse 1] Before I was afflicted I had gone astray Thinking I'd been restricted I went another way The bands of the wicked How then they robbed me In haste my steps quickened To where I'd loved Thee [Pre-Chorus] The love The power I looked up In that hour [Chorus] Light and Life Showered on me Keep your eyes On the narrow way Light and Life Showered on me We have God's love His Words, ever pray [Verse 2] Before I was afflicted I could not see Thinking I'd been restricted You were rescuing me The bands of the wicked Could not hold me long In haste my steps quickened And You made me strong [Pre-Chorus] The love The power I looked up In that hour [Chorus] Light and Life Showered on me Keep your eyes On the narrow way Light and Life Showered on me We have God's love His Words, ever pray [Bridge] Though life tries We have God's love His Words Ever pray When my feet drift You call me back To the narrow Way [Chorus] Light and Life Showered on me Keep your eyes On the narrow way Light and Life Showered on me We have God's love His Words, ever pray

Living Right

This world is in trouble
It's values have declined
When temptations double
Some do all they feel inclined

We have clear instruction
A pattern for success
When we reach a junction
We can pray when in distress

If we ask worthily
We're safe from destruction
When we react humbly
He will give us conviction

When e'er we trust in God
There's help in our dealings
Where our feet need to trod
He'll give us quiet promptings

Sometimes answers we need
Come a piece at a time
Without character we'd
Not benefit all mankind

Expanded character
Enhances our faith
This valuable factor
Helps us not deviate

How do we keep resolve
When decisions abound?
Temptations will dissolve
When to the scriptures we're found

Our moral character
Weaves one thread at a time
God's yardstick can measure
As upwards now man must climb

Ask in Faith

May the Holy Ghost assist
As we consider meaningful prayer
For when we have faith, we enlist
All of heaven's blessing and care

An example of great faith
Was given to us by young Joseph
Who asked and did not abraid
When he read the first word- if

He believed the words of James
And wanted to know what should be done
With churches of many names
He could not decide on anyone

He went to a grove of trees
And sought prayer after pondering
He humbly expressed his pleas
In him, there was nothing wavering

For faith without works is dead
If there's but one-way interaction
He knew on where his thoughts led
T'wards Jesus Christ and righteous action

When we have increased capacity
Wells of knowledge flow and inspire
To live our lives spiritually
There's power in faith filled desire

A prayer of faith might include
A review of all we've been given
With thoughts based on gratitude
This is the way each prayer should begin

When we pray for missionaries
It also mean we pray to give aid
With faith we will find who carries
A prepared heart with some questions laid

We pray too for the needy
For those who are sick and afflicted
May we do whatever needs be
To show God's love's unrestricted

We each have known anxiety
We can turn to God and petition
When we fear propriety
And become stuck in hesitation

Prayers are consecrated work
Expressed to our Father in Heaven
Prayers of faith require effort
We're not finished when we say "amen"

As we follow this pattern
We are blessed to recognize and act
On the things that we discern
We can seek help to complete our pact

Sometimes prayers may be denied
For we'll not oft receive a witness
Until our faith has been tried
And we increase spiritual fitness

"Not my will, but Thine, be done"
Though hard it is to accept God's will
We can bear as did the Son
In faith, we've prayers of peace that are still

[Verse 1] Ask in Faith May the Holy Ghost assist As we consider prayer For when we've faith, we'll enlist All of heaven's blessing Which lie there [Pre-Chorus] With faith we'll know What should be done We go to God And not to none Nothing wavering He hears the plea Our hearts lean in On bended knee [Chorus] Ask in Faith Ask in Faith He will guide the way Ask in Faith Ask in Faith Then rise and obey [Verse 2] He asked and did not abraid Young Joseph sought the grove He read the first word And still he wanted to know If he believed the words of James He would not turn aside He looked to Jesus Christ And let righteous action ride [Pre-Chorus] For faith without works is dead And prayers are consecrated work We are not finished When we say amen in the church We speak with effort We kneel with care Then watch for light Already there [Chorus] Ask in Faith Ask in Faith He will guide the way Ask in Faith Ask in Faith Then rise and obey [Verse 3] Begin with gratitude For all we've been given Then lift the names Of those who need His healing Missionaries, the needy The sick and the worn Hearts prepared And burdens borne [Bridge] Not my will, but Thine, be done Though hard it is to bear Some prayers are answered After faith is made aware When our faith is tried We grow more still In prayer of peace We learn His will [Chorus] Ask in Faith Ask in Faith He will guide the way Ask in Faith Ask in Faith Then rise and obey

Ask in Faith pg 94

Mark 4: 39
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind,
and said unto the sea, Peace, be still.
And the wind ceased, and there was
a great calm.

James 1: 5-6
5 If any of you lack wisdom,
let him ask of God, that giveth
to all men liberally,
and upbraideth not;
and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith,
nothing wavering.
For he that wavereth is like
a wave of the sea driven
with the wind and tossed.

Ether 12: 6
6 And now, I, Moroni, would speak
somewhat concerning these things;
I would show unto the world that
faith is things which are hoped for
and not seen;
wherefore, dispute not because ye see not,
for ye receive no witness until after
the trial of your faith.

The Spiritual Gift of Being Quick to Observe

A message is heard.
It leaves an impact.
It wasn't a word.
Or even a fact.
What made us discern?
Our spiritual ears?
Or observed concern
Mingled with tears?
As new resolve nears.

Without a reserve
We're set, we resolve.
“Be quick to observe,”
As care does evolve,
When we have felt moved.
We know we must leap.
It's time to be proved.
We've promptings to keep.
We are not lost sheep.

Through prayer we're given
Power to detect
What is from heaven,
What not to neglect.
Our growth we'll behold.
Where once was concealed,
Our good will unfold,
Spiritually revealed.
And, resolve is sealed.

Verse 1] A message is heard It leaves an impact It wasn't a word Or even a fact What made us discern? Our spiritual ears? Or observed concern Mingled with tears? [Pre-Chorus] As new resolve nears Without a reserve We're set, we resolve Be quick to observe [Chorus] Be quick to observe Be quick to observe As care does evolve We move when we're moved We've promptings to keep We are not lost sheep (We are not lost sheep) We leap when we know [Verse 2] Through prayer we're given Power to detect What is from heaven What not to neglect Our growth we'll behold Where once was concealed Our good will unfold Spiritually revealed [Pre-Chorus] And resolve is sealed The path is clear When the heart has kneeled We know what is near [Chorus] Be quick to observe Be quick to observe As care does evolve We move when we're moved We've promptings to keep We are not lost sheep (We are not lost sheep) We leap when we know [Bridge] What once was hidden Now comes to light What was within us Turns bold and right No more delay now No more disguise The Spirit has shown us Open our eyes [Final Chorus] Be quick to observe Be quick to observe As care does evolve We move when we're moved We've promptings to keep We are not lost sheep (We are not lost sheep) We leap when we know And resolve is sealed And resolve is sealed (Resolve is sealed

Our Dear Father, We Cry Aloud

When the people, fearing God, cried out with one voice....Were they singing?
Was someone signing and they were saying the words in unison?  I do sense that the latter is what happened.

Heavenly Father, We cry aloud,
Lamenting our sins, with one voice.
Please forgive us our carnal state.
To speak Thy Son's name, we rejoice.

Oh have mercy and apply the
Atoning blood of Christ.
Help us to be more repentant,
With our hearts more purified.

May we be filled with Thy spirit,
For a remission of our sins.
May Thy mercy shine upon us.
With grace. Please forgive us and cleanse.

We feel less that the earth
Even  less than unwelcome dust
Help us realize our worth
The potential within each of us

Verse 1] Heavenly Father, we cry aloud Lamenting our sins, with one voice Please forgive us our carnal state To speak Thy Son's name, we rejoice [Pre-Chorus] Oh have mercy And apply The Atoning blood of Christ Help us be more repentant With our hearts more purified [Chorus] Please forgive us And cleanse us Please forgive us And cleanse us May Thy mercy shine upon us With grace, with grace [Verse 2] May we be filled with Thy spirit For a remission of our sins We lean in low We come again And ask You to begin [Pre-Chorus] Oh have mercy And apply The Atoning blood of Christ Help us be more repentant With our hearts more purified [Chorus] Please forgive us And cleanse us Please forgive us And cleanse us May Thy mercy shine upon us With grace, with grace [Bridge] We feel less than the earth Even less than unwelcome dust Help us realize our worth The potential within each of us [Final Chorus] Please forgive us And cleanse us Please forgive us And cleanse us May Thy mercy shine upon us With grace, with grace

Mosiah  Chapter 4

King Benjamin continues his address—Salvation comes because of the Atonement—Believe in God to be saved—Retain a remission of your sins through faithfulness—Impart of your substance to the poor—Do all things in wisdom and order. About 124 B.C.

1 And now, it came to pass that when king Benjamin had made an end of speaking the words which had been delivered unto him by the angel of the Lord, that he cast his eyes round about on the multitude, and behold they had fallen to the earth, for the fear of the Lord had come upon them.

2 And they had viewed themselves in their own carnal state, even less than the dust of the earth. And they all cried aloud with one voice, saying: O have mercy, and apply the atoning blood of Christ that we may receive forgiveness of our sins, and our hearts may be purified; for we believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who created heaven and earth, and all things; who shall come down among the children of men.

Love is Found There

Oh, be consistent

Your spirit needs it

Scripture study, prayer

Time in nature, God is there

In these quiet moments

All else falls into place

Something inside opens

A freed smile's on your face

Heavenly Father loves effort

Express the feelings in your heart

He can bless you beyond imaginings

Even you Red Sea,  He can part

Be His servant

Act more in His behalf

Give kind service

Oh, what joy you will have

But, maybe you've had a rough life

Seeing Hell many times over

Still there is nothing Jesus Christ's

Atonement cannot cover

Spend time in prayer

Love is found there

Speak your thoughts, bare

Repent. Share.

Spend time reading

Love is found there

God answers.  Seeking

He freely shares

Lions of our Day

Here is some quiet music to play as you pray for our missionaries.  We need more prayers than ever!  There are so many more... and so young! Thankfully this missionary survived. You don't realize how far from home you have traveled to preach the gospel until moments like this.

Great danger lies in turning your back
On known lions who would to attack
As you were smiling and enjoying your day
They plotted how to get you as prey....

One crept low the other leapt
And then you were pinned for a bite
But because of the prayers so often kept
You had the strength and continued to fight

Much blood was lost till helpers came
And pried you out of those jaws
Great lessons were learned with miracles named
Along with a greater respect for God's laws

Life is an adventure
But, please be aware
When you turn your back on danger
Danger is still there

Prayers are being called for
Missionaries, for you
As the word spreads more
Miracles will too

Speak He Listens

The distractions of the mind

And all the cares of the day

More quickly fall away

As with faith we speak to pray

Say it out loud

For the Lord has ears

Each are allowed

lat down all your fears

At any time

Any place anywhere

Place your troubles

Upon Him. He cares!

He is our Holy Father

In Spirit, we are His

Our prayers never bother

You speak. There He is

Even He sends angels

They can attend to you

Ever He sends Jesus

Who suffered for you, too

There is never anything

That our God can't do

Be still. ...Give Him of your time

Speak. He listens to you

Wait...feel His love wash through

[Verse 1] The distractions of the mind And all the cares of the day More quickly fall away As with faith we speak to pray Say it out loud For the Lord has ears Each are allowed Lay down all your fears [Pre-Chorus] At any time Any place anywhere Place your troubles Upon Him, He cares [Chorus] Say it out loud Say it out loud He hears you now He hears you now He is our Holy Father In spirit, we are His Our prayers never bother You speak, there He is [Verse 2] Even He sends angels They can attend to you Ever He sends Jesus Who suffered for you, too There is never anything That our God can't do Be still, give Him of your time Speak, He listens to you [Pre-Chorus] At any time Any place anywhere Place your troubles Upon Him, He cares [Chorus] Say it out loud Say it out loud He hears you now He hears you now He is our Holy Father In spirit, we are His Our prayers never bother You speak, there He is [Bridge] Wait...feel His love wash through Be still Give Him of your time Speak, He listens to you [Final Chorus] Say it out loud Say it out loud He hears you now He hears you now He is our Holy Father In spirit, we are His Our prayers never bother You speak, there He is

Walls, floors, Ceilings and Doors

Be considerate

To those who sleep in

Close the door quietly

Don't disturb dreaming

The day is closing

The walls are thin

Speak in hushed tones

For the children

Despite loud songs

The coming and going

You can pray on

For peace in you, growing

Through any wall

Any ceiling

Prayers, big or small,

Christ comes, hearing

Walls, floors

Ceilings, doors

Consider

What they're for

Safety, quiet, peace

Loving ties

May love, here, increase

May prayers, here, more rise

I remember being in a room and hearing coughing all night long.  I wanted to cough as well.  The room allowed smoking, but it allowed pets... us. I brought doterra and the smell stopped bothering me.  I think I should have offered it to the neighbor.

I'm visiting my dad.  He traveled a lot for work and he talked about learning to shut doors quietly.  That was part of what teachers taught in school.  He noticed that the motels were full of door slammers at all hours.  I think certain noises bothered his ear that had little hearing from the war.  Like the neighborhood dogs barking.

He is now blind and nearly deaf.  He works to make sense of noises now. He repeats what I say until he figures out what I am saying. When he complains of hearing noises, now, I think he is just bragging that he hears something.

Through Any Wall

[Verse 1] Be considerate To those who sleep in Close the door quietly Don't disturb dreaming The day is closing The walls are thin Speak in hushed tones For the children [Pre-Chorus] Despite loud songs The coming and going You can pray on For peace in you, growing [Chorus] Through any wall Any ceiling Prayers, big or small Christ comes, hearing Walls, floors Ceilings, doors Consider what they're for Safety, quiet, peace [Verse 2] Loving ties May love, here, increase May prayers, here, more rise In the dark and in the hush The footsteps fade The house still knows A gentle word Can mend what shows [Pre-Chorus] Despite loud songs The coming and going You can pray on For peace in you, growing [Chorus] Through any wall Any ceiling Prayers, big or small Christ comes, hearing Walls, floors Ceilings, doors Consider what they're for Safety, quiet, peace [Bridge] For the ones asleep For the ones awake Let the smallest act Keep the night from breaking [Final Chorus] Through any wall Any ceiling Prayers, big or small Christ comes, hearing Walls, floors Ceilings, doors Consider what they're for Safety, quiet, peace Loving ties May love, here, increase May prayers, here, more rise May prayers, here, more rise

This Day- Probation and Grace

[Verse 1] Each day Thou gives us is as a fine treasure, For me and my house to serve with great pleasure. I've sought Thee early to find and to know Thee. Bless this wise servant for what brings cleansing. We have been given probation to improve. While we have bodies ever to control and move, We can know which tasks truly matter the most. Bless me with promptings of the Holy Ghost. [Pre-Chorus] Prayerful reading can set our course each new day. When we submit... we act without a delay. Will my garments be white to go no more out? Help me to know how I can show Thee I'm devout. [Chorus] Help me know, help me know Help me know what to do Help me know, help me know I will follow through Help me know, help me know When the moment is here Help me know, help me know And keep my heart clear [Verse 2] We are here to prepare for eternal life. We rejoiced to prove we're faithful despite strife. We can show we will do all the Lord does ask. Help me to choose against temptation's strong grasp. We needed someone with grace and God's favor. Who could perform with love as beloved Savior? We chose Jesus Christ to come qualify us. Help me not procrastinate, while there's justice. [Pre-Chorus] Although we may struggle with complacency, We have been placed purposely since infancy. Though we're seasoned we have not yet done our part. Help me show endurance with a steadfast heart. [Chorus] Help me know, help me know Help me know what to do Help me know, help me know I will follow through Help me know, help me know When the moment is here Help me know, help me know And keep my heart clear [Bridge] Though I'm discouraged with my circumstance, I will carry burdens with more confidence. Each day as thy servant I'll follow through. Bless me to know what I can here and now do. I know Jesus suffered my infirmities. He prayed for all men feeling all agonies. He forgave His enemies and their lies. Help me to forgive and build eternal ties. [Chorus] Help me know, help me know Help me know what to do Help me know, help me know I will follow through Help me know, help me know When the moment is here Help me know, help me know And keep my heart clear [Outro] Help me be thankful that I am yet alive. And to recognize that with Thee I do strive. As a small payment for debt from Christ's purchase, Help me share His charity through kind service. Of those who petition Thy aid, help me see. Bless me to hear Thy voice and know their need. Remind me to pray to Thee both night and day. Help me know my Savior, in His name I pray.

Live By Faith

All over the world, there are good Latter- Day Saints.
As truths are unfurled, faith abounds unrestrained.
Though there are drought conditions we find living waters.
That our homes can be safe midst precarious matters.

The gospel teaches us how to increase our faith.
If we but listen, the Prophet shows us the way.
When we've the Spirit, we serve and lengthen our stride.
From temple's beacon, we're bright, no longer to hide.

When we feel weighed down, we can increase faith and prayer.
Finding emphasized love, to reflect and feel aware.
When we reach hard crossroads, we'll follow Jesus and not fear.
For He shares our burdens and makes them easier to bear.

Live by faith
Not by fear
Lift your face
God is near

Turn To Our Father

I struggle in my troubles
Daily there is no peace.
Till I turn to our Father
And the restless heart finds ease!
He knows my heart, what I'm feeling
And He knows just what I need:
To serve Him, share His love
And let His pure light lead

I know when I've the spirit
New thoughts enter my mind
And my heart thrills to hear it
Sweet is this joy to find!
Feeling God's hand helps me endure
Helps me want more to reach forth
And assist those down trodden,
To know whom to live for

I was playing Away in a Manger and these words started to unfold to the melody. It was a lovely experience.  Does anyone else come up with their own words to favorite hymns?

[Verse 1] I struggle in my troubles Daily there is no peace Till I turn to our Father And my restless heart finds ease He knows my heart, what I'm feeling He knows just what I need To serve Him, share His love And let His pure light lead [Pre-Chorus] I know when I've the Spirit New thoughts enter my mind My heart begins to tremble Sweet joy I get to find Sweet joy I get to find [Chorus] Turn to our Father He knows my need Turn to our Father He sets me free He knows my heart He knows my plea Turn to our Father And follow me [Verse 2] Feeling God's hand helps me endure Helps me want more to reach forth And assist those down trodden To know whom to live for When the road grows heavy And my own strength runs thin I bow my head, He meets me there And fills me up again [Pre-Chorus] I know when I've the Spirit New thoughts enter my mind My heart begins to tremble Sweet joy I get to find Sweet joy I get to find [Chorus] Turn to our Father He knows my need Turn to our Father He sets me free He knows my heart He knows my plea Turn to our Father And follow me [Bridge] So I will keep on reaching For the hand that never leaves And carry love to the broken Like mercy carried me If I lose my footing He will teach my soul to stand I am held, I am guided In the hollow of His hand [Chorus] Turn to our Father He knows my need Turn to our Father He sets me free He knows my heart He knows my plea Turn to our Father And follow me

If You Could Hear the Savior Praying

If you could hear

The Savior's prayers

Imagine the tears!

What warmth He shares!

How pure, His care!

If you could hear the Savior praying

Know that in all that He is saying

Sweetly, your name has been there, too

Daily, more than a time or two!

Heartfelt Prayer

When you cant find words to say
Listen more while you pray
Feel for His holy presence
And His peace in the silence
Examine well your heart
Seek for gratitude, to start
Then, speak- what troubles it so
And feel His Spirit within flow
With impressions in tow
Later through words you'll find, you'll know
Keep this prayer always in your heart
Read His words and trust He will impart
Perhaps from what someone says
Or a voice in your head ...that is His!
Make a record of the time and place
Let it fill your mind and heart with thanks

This was from something Elder Bednar said that I can no longer source.  It was from a video someone made of him and the video no longer exists. Help?  I am noticing there are a lot of videos like this of many of the general authorities....

[Verse 1] When you can't find words to say Listen more while you pray Feel for His holy presence And His peace in the silence [Pre-Chorus] Examine well your heart Seek for gratitude, to start Then speak what troubles it so And feel His Spirit within flow [Chorus] Listen more while you pray Listen more while you pray His peace will light the way In the silence, He will stay (while you pray) Listen more while you pray [Verse 2] With impressions in tow Later through words you'll find, you'll know Keep this prayer always in your heart Read His words and trust He will impart [Pre-Chorus] Perhaps from what someone says Or a voice in your head That is His, if it brings you near And leads you back to love and fear [Chorus] Listen more while you pray Listen more while you pray His peace will light the way In the silence, He will stay (while you pray) Listen more while you pray [Bridge] Make a record of the time and place Let it fill your mind and heart with thanks When the noise falls away You will know the shape of grace (You will know) (You will know) [Final Chorus] Listen more while you pray Listen more while you pray His peace will light the way In the silence, He will stay (while you pray) Listen more while you pray Listen more while you pray Listen more while you pray

Morning and Evening Prayers are Inseparably Linked

Our lives become more meaningful
As we counsel with the Lord
And blessings become bountiful
As we pray while we endeavor

It's natural and instinctive
Right and good and in accordance
To pray for protection and directives
As obedience grows in importance

Through a morning preparation for the day
First spiritually, then temporally we create
And the primary focus for which we do pray
Is based on the Lord's pattern of how to behave

Then comes a moment for anger and we are not
A moment to speak harshly and we are kind
How thankful that morning prayer was not forgot
As silent gratitudes collect in the mind

Because it's from prayer that we improve
When the evening comes we give account
Still, there were moments we'd to remove
And plead to the Father for counsel about

Thus, to the morning and evening, there's a link
As prayer ties together days without ceasing
And if at times we'd ask for nothing but give thanks
Our heartfelt gratitude would be ever increasing

And, as we strive to emulate the Savior
We learn to pray with and in others behalf
Even enemies whom we hate we pray for
As we learn of the love for them He hath

And while our prayer links are forever growing
Earnestly with sincerity, faith and care
Might those who hear our prayers for them flowing
Also seek for the love and strength that's in prayer

He's Been There Before

He's Been There Before by Elder Troy Whittle
The alarm bell rings at 6:30, I stumble to my feet
I grab my companions bedding and pull off his sheets
A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise?
It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes

The morning activities follow- study, prayer and such
When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't accomplished much
"We have a super day planned," My comp. says with a grin
I lowly utter a faithless breath, "Yeah, if anyone lets us in."

With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street prepared to
Face another day of humidity and heat
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through
My champion and I are riding home not accomplishing what we thought to do

We ride up to the mailbox, hoping to receive a lot
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air Box"
We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete
The only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet

It's past 10:30 p.m. My companion is fast asleep,
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep
In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray
I need to talk to father, but I'm not sure what to say

"Oh, Father" I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away
My hands, my aching hands- worn, hurt and beat;
If our area was any smaller, we'd have knocked every street"

"Why on missions are the days so much alike?
The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike
Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes, it's very hard to see"

"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough?
People always laugh at me, and call me stupid stuff
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack
I want to give them Books of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back"

"And what about my family: They don't have much to say
I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day after day
Oh Father, Why am I here am I just wasting time?
Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind"

"My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?
"The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see
Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you"

My prayer now finished, I stand up, then jump right into bed
I need my rest for tomorrow, we have another long day ahead
Sleep start to overtake me, I seem to drift away
Then it seems a vision takes me to another time in another day

I'm standing alone on the hill. The view is very nice
A man walks to wards me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ"
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet
"Arise," He states, "Follow me to the shade. You and I need to speak"

My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete
He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me
I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through
In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you"

"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you
At times I felt not quite sure what else I could do
I know you don't like to ride a bicycle, for you a car would be sweet
Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds"

"I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something you hate
I remember when I sweat blood from ev’ry pore, oh the agony was great!
I see you don't like your companion- you'd rather have someone else-
I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth"

"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you
I remember when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back"

"Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking on doors all day
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way
It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me"
He embraced me with His arms and His light filled me with His love
With tears in my eyes I watched as He went back to the Father above

I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head
I listened and heard the alarm, then realized I was in my bed
My companion let out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

No matter what we go through, when we feel we can't take more
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ, He's been there before

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

These poems are my own thoughts and impressions as I study the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints

I encourage you to read from the Book of Mormon and the standard works, and listen to modern day prophets, also, that your mind and heart might be touched.
