Hand Picked for Me- The One I Marry- My Love

Oh, the one I marry will have to be
The one Heavenly Father hand picked for me
He knowing the beginning from the end
Is the designer of eternal friends

I pray that we both will equally know
That our love from Heavenly Father doth flow
May faith and trust ground us well from the start
That our love may grow deeply in the heart

Thus, the one chosen for me
Comes, almost, familiarly
A bit, perhaps, of Mom and Dad
The best connections I have had

I will grow a testimony of my love
How perfectly a gift given from above
The differences- how they make a nice blend
As blessings for each other, gifts in the end

love-
Is it a match, a spark
A flame to dim and grow dark
Or is it a connection
Spiritual for detection

Promising more as the windows of heaven outpour
That individually we each have been framed for
Unto a mirror where lies the future and past
A place to remember promises forever cast

Verse 1] Oh, the one I marry will have to be The one Heavenly Father hand picked for me He knowing the beginning from the end Is the designer of eternal friends I pray that we both will equally know That our love from Heavenly Father doth flow May faith and trust ground us well from the start That our love may grow deeply in the heart [Pre-Chorus] Thus, the one chosen for me Comes, almost, familiarly A bit, perhaps, of Mom and Dad The best connections I have had [Chorus] Hand picked for me Hand picked for me From above, for me Heavenly Father, lead me Hand picked for me Hand picked for me A gift in love A blessing to receive [Verse 2] I will grow a testimony of my love How perfectly a gift given from above The differences- how they make a nice blend As blessings for each other, gifts in the end love- Is it a match, a spark A flame to dim and grow dark Or is it a connection Spiritual for detection [Pre-Chorus] Promising more as the windows of heaven outpour That individually we each have been framed for Unto a mirror where lies the future and past A place to remember promises forever cast [Chorus] Hand picked for me Hand picked for me From above, for me Heavenly Father, lead me Hand picked for me Hand picked for me A gift in love A blessing to receive [Bridge] He knowing the beginning from the end I trust the path He charts again If this is mine, let it be true A love He shapes in me and you [Final Chorus] Hand picked for me Hand picked for me From above, for me Heavenly Father, lead me Hand picked for me Hand picked for me A gift in love A blessing to receive

Understand the Doctrine of Marriage

In the broader context, marriage can be seen
Through the sure lens of God's plan
When sealed to the Savior, we join His team
For the salvation of man

560-Pound Man Biking Across US To Lose Weight « CBS Connecticut

560-Pound Man Biking Across US To Lose Weight « CBS Connecticut

Nothing else matters

When love is at stake

Every hope shatters

Incomplete, you ache!

Light the course to take

On it lose yourself

Christ will help you shake

The old to a new self!

See yourself lost in service
Lose yourself in this purpose
Seek a light that's bright to shine
Tender mercy is a sign

When you are given a goal that consumes you
and trials and aid comes along.
Know that God is with you to see you through
and will help you to be strong.

I was touched by two things in this story.  The man is working to save his life and marriage.  Others (complete strangers) are cheering for him and helping him along..

From His Side

From Adam came the woman.
Not from his head to rule her
Or his feet to trample upon.
But from his side to be his partner!

And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he ... in the Bible account of the creation woman was not formed from a part of man's head, ...nor from a part of a man's foot that she was to be trampled under his feet. ... the fact that she was always to be by his side as a partner and companion.

Complete

A marriage is complete
When the spirit's found.
There's no need to compete;
God's the common ground!
Stay hurtful words
Apologize
Let praise be heard
Build loving ties
Guilt injures the spirit
Repentance must take place
Don't avoid it- hear this
The healing balm is grace
Pondering President Packer's sweet words.

The Plan of Happiness

President Boyd K. Packer
President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Over the years I have frequently taught an important principle: the end of all activity in the Church is to see that a man and a woman with their children are happy at home and sealed together for time and for all eternity. …

Pray for Marriage | Stoplight

Shall we let the gray of today

Obscure what is timeless?

For traditional marriage, pray

What Would You Give/ A Selfless Marriage/The Capacities of One

What would you give
to marry the one
who will help you live
your best to be won?

http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/transcript-president-eyring-addresses-vatican-summit-marriage

A selfless marriage
Is happily won
As vows they cherish
To become as one

The capacities of one
Absorbs into the other
Shaping each to become
United for endeavor

For each other
Happiness is produced

"Most remarkable to me has been the fulfillment of the hope I felt the day I met my wife. I have become a better person as I have loved and lived with her. We have been complementary beyond anything I could have imagined. Her capacity to nurture others grew in me as we became one. My capacity to plan, direct, and lead in our family grew in her as we became united in marriage. I realize now that we grew together into one—slowly lifting and shaping each other, year by year. As we absorbed strength from each other, it did not diminish our personal gifts.
Our differences combined as if they were designed to create a better whole. Rather than dividing us, our differences bound us together. Above all, our unique abilities allowed us to become partners with God in creating human life. The happiness that came from our becoming one built faith in our children and grandchildren that marriage could be a continuing source of satisfaction for them and their families.
You have seen enough unhappiness in marriages and families to ask why some marriages produce happiness while others create unhappiness. Many factors make a difference, but one stands out to me.
Where there is selfishness, natural differences of men and women often divide. Where there is unselfishness, differences become complementary and provide opportunities to help and build each other. Spouses and family members can lift each other and ascend together if they care more about the interests of the other than their own interests.
If unselfishness is the key to complementary marriage between a man and a woman, we know what we must do to help create a renaissance of successful marriages and family life.
We must find ways to lead people to a faith that they can replace their natural self-interest with deep and lasting feelings of charity and benevolence. With that change, and only then, will people be able to make the hourly unselfish sacrifices necessary for a happy marriage and family life—and to do it with a smile.
The change that is needed is in people’s hearts more than in their minds. The most persuasive logic will not be enough unless it helps soften hearts. For instance, it is important for men and women to be faithful to a spouse and a family. But in the heat of temptation to betray their trust, only powerful feelings of love and loyalty will be enough.

Believe in Home Again

Empty, you keep coming back.
For there's a hole in your soul.
Satan's been on the attack
And, home is where you're whole

You lost a piece of your soul
When you left our family
What you need to become whole
Is to love us, happily

Take hold of the memories
All the joy you felt back when
There was less stress and more ease
Come, believe in home again

For Mankind's Destiny

mormon-temple-marriage.jpgfamily-mormon.jpg

For mankind's destiny-
All marriages between
A man and a woman,
Are central to God’s plan
Having all come from Heaven
This grand foundational doctrine
Populates the world with love
For children come from above
This makes sacred the word marriage
Holy, for the home to cherish

http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/article/church-responds-to-inquiries-on-enda--same-sex-marriage
Mormon Family — The concept of a united family that lives and progresses forever is at the core of Latter-day Saint doctrine. Within families led by a father and a mother, children develop virtues such as love, trust, loyalty, cooperation and service.http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/blog/mormon-images-available-for-use
Mormon Temple Marriage — Members of the Church believe that marriages performed in temples are "sealed," or blessed to last for eternity. The concept that the family unit can continue beyond the grave as a conscious, loving entity, with the marriage partnership and parent-child relationships intact, is a core belief of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.http://www.mormonnewsroom.org/blog/mormon-images-available-for-use

Marriage is a Gift

Marriage is a gift
Given from above
From it do not drift
Give it all your love

If you want something to last forever, you treat it differently. You shield it and protect it. You never abuse it. You don’t expose it to the elements. You don’t make it common or ordinary. If it ever becomes tarnished, you lovingly polish it until it gleams like new. It becomes special because you have made it so, and it grows more beautiful and precious as time goes by.
Eternal marriage is just like that. We need to treat it just that way. I pray that we may see it for the priceless gift that it is, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Saving Your Marriage

A damaged marriage is still precious
As a living, breathing thing
Through the miracle of Jesus
It's healing, He can bring

One to be shaken up
The other to see the light
To endure the bitter cup
And number our days aright

The Fabric of Family is Worth Everything

Our nation's fabric of family
Lies shredded in half and worn
But I'll still defend it, happily
As it was of God she was born

Some would brush two hundred years aside
And put what's secular on stage
But for all who now live and have died
This is but a war against Satan to wage

Oh Mother! Oh Father!  You are the gold
That still shimmers on that frayed rag
The promise, our future you now hold
Remember when to your parents, you ran!

Run now! Run quickly like the wind!
And defend that golden family of the past
To all you can, this message send
It is only under God, our good nation will last!

We All Love

We all love to feel
Loved, needed, wanted.
Indeed, love is real
When virtuously planted

Marriage should be vibrant-
A sharing of two souls.
Do what is important...
Then let faith fill in the holes!

He's Been There Before

He's Been There Before by Elder Troy Whittle
The alarm bell rings at 6:30, I stumble to my feet
I grab my companions bedding and pull off his sheets
A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise?
It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes

The morning activities follow- study, prayer and such
When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't accomplished much
"We have a super day planned," My comp. says with a grin
I lowly utter a faithless breath, "Yeah, if anyone lets us in."

With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street prepared to
Face another day of humidity and heat
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through
My champion and I are riding home not accomplishing what we thought to do

We ride up to the mailbox, hoping to receive a lot
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air Box"
We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete
The only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet

It's past 10:30 p.m. My companion is fast asleep,
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep
In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray
I need to talk to father, but I'm not sure what to say

"Oh, Father" I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away
My hands, my aching hands- worn, hurt and beat;
If our area was any smaller, we'd have knocked every street"

"Why on missions are the days so much alike?
The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike
Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes, it's very hard to see"

"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough?
People always laugh at me, and call me stupid stuff
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack
I want to give them Books of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back"

"And what about my family: They don't have much to say
I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day after day
Oh Father, Why am I here am I just wasting time?
Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind"

"My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?
"The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see
Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you"

My prayer now finished, I stand up, then jump right into bed
I need my rest for tomorrow, we have another long day ahead
Sleep start to overtake me, I seem to drift away
Then it seems a vision takes me to another time in another day

I'm standing alone on the hill. The view is very nice
A man walks to wards me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ"
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet
"Arise," He states, "Follow me to the shade. You and I need to speak"

My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete
He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me
I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through
In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you"

"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you
At times I felt not quite sure what else I could do
I know you don't like to ride a bicycle, for you a car would be sweet
Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds"

"I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something you hate
I remember when I sweat blood from ev’ry pore, oh the agony was great!
I see you don't like your companion- you'd rather have someone else-
I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth"

"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you
I remember when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back"

"Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking on doors all day
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way
It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me"
He embraced me with His arms and His light filled me with His love
With tears in my eyes I watched as He went back to the Father above

I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head
I listened and heard the alarm, then realized I was in my bed
My companion let out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

No matter what we go through, when we feel we can't take more
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ, He's been there before

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

These poems are my own thoughts and impressions as I study the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints

I encourage you to read from the Book of Mormon and the standard works, and listen to modern day prophets, also, that your mind and heart might be touched.
