Bastille Day started in 1789
When the French citizens proclaimed it was time
They stormed the prison at the center of Paris
And in battle, over took the monarch's fortress

The tyranny of Louis the sixteenth was ended
Such that, this day of revolution, we have befriended
Thus it has become a representation of freedom
A foundation for the restoration of our Father's kingdom

As from America came the framing of the Constitution
It helped in part change the country that aided their revolution
Imagine George Washington with his troupes in a quest to not quit
Make a last bold move then to see behind him a fleet of French ships!

Our thanks to France who came with sacrifice
As their country had little to cover the price
And as a symbol of their love and friendship
They sent Lady Liberty upon a long trip

Let us always remember history
And acclaim good works shining of glory
And thank the unfavored Marie Antoinette
Who with the founders we should not forget

For thus she was baptized by living for the dead
On a day at the temple that was spiritually led
May she be acclaimed and her faults overlooked
As her life was taken for the depression that hit pocket books

Marie Antoinette is recognized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint history for her appearance in the St. George Temple. On August 21, 1877, she was among several eminent spirits who reportedly appeared to Wilford Woodruff, the then-president of the LDS Church, seeking temple blessings. This event is significant within LDS beliefs, as it reflects the church's teachings on the afterlife and the importance of temple work for deceased individuals

Terryl Givens of the University of Richmond along with his answers. For example:

Why do Mormons practice proxy baptism for the dead? ("Historically, Christians have been exclusive," Givens says. "Catholics have taught that only Catholics are saved, and evangelicals say only if you confess according to their tradition. Mormons say, "No, salvation is open to all people.' In that sense, Mormonism is the most nonexclusive religion in the Christian world.")

So are all those who are baptized after death considered Mormon? ("No," Gilgoff wrote. "Mormons believe that baptism provides the deceased with the opportunity to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but not the obligation. 'This is about putting names on the guest list,' says Givens. 'They might not go to the party, but they are given the chance.’ ”

We Sent Her Ashes to the Wind

We flew and spread her ashes to the wind
While circling a mountain to ascend
Symbolically with grandpa she was freed
A thirty three year desire finally achieved

I had him baptized 24 years ago
And my desire for her now does grow
That through time and space they'll be together
To enjoy the blessings that extend forever

How thankful I am for Jesus Christ
That he atoned for us and paid the price
That each man will be given the opportunity
To enjoy gospel covenants in love and unity

How thankful I am for our Eternal Father
To have created a plan that we might gather
There to enjoy increase in every way
If we just come to him, covenant, and obey

Baptism for the Dead

In the Spirit world beyond
Our eternal life continues
And for those who've traveled on
Baptism changes venues

On earth we're given temples
To labor for our dead
As proxy for our people
While by the spirit led

Through our works on their behalf
Bondage and darkness falls away
Light comes they are free to act
And enter the narrow way

Millions of ordinances are performed in the temples each year in behalf of our deceased loved ones. May we continue to be faithful in performing such ordinances for those who are unable to do so for themselves. I love the words of President Joseph F. Smith as he spoke of temple service and of the spirit world beyond mortality. Said he, “Through our efforts in their behalf their chains of bondage will fall from them, and the darkness surrounding them will clear away, that light may shine upon them and they shall hear in the spirit world of the work that has been done for them by their [people] here, and will rejoice with you in your performance of these duties.”1 -Joseph F. What is the Destiny of the Billions

What is the destiny of the billions
Who have lived and died without Christ?
They in the temple can be redeemed
As we proxy for the dead and are baptized


Our God is merciful and just
And has laid out a perfect plan
If we're obedient and trust
We can aid in the salvation of man

Jesus prophesied He would teach
Those in the spirit world when He died
There to organize the righteous to preach
Those in darkness and in need of His light

Like unto the living, the dead can increase in faith
Repent, be cleansed, and burn with the Holy Ghost within
It is their's to await vicarious work of the Saints
For the highest blessings of heaven to begin

With each husband and wife restored together
They are then sealed forever to their children
Till more and more family names do gather
Into an eternally welded link for heaven

Supplying labor for every time to embrace
Who will serve as an officiator?
And vicariously act in the Savior's place
Thus, to provide a way back to our creator

As an expression of our witness
Of the truthfulness of the gospel
We desire all to be humble in meekness
And accept the Atonement and be God's people

We are baptized for the dead
Because we know they will arise
Restored even to each hair on the head
As in Christ shall all be made alive

Our work is theirs to decide
As we've all free agency
In death or in life
Truth is for our accepting

Completing His mission of divine commitment
We benefit from the infinite reach of our Savior
Due to His perfect life and absolute Atonement
He is the sole source of our salvation and favor

And except a man be born
Of water and of the Spirit
His soul can not be reborn
And of judgment he will fear it

For straight is the way
And narrow is the gate
And those who'll know His grace
Will have been baptized in His name

Repent everyone
In the name of Jesus Christ
And follow Him, the very Son
With the Gift of the Holiness for light

Let the dead be freed from prison
To be judged according to the flesh
That the gospel may be preached for one reason
For the great Day when of God's hand we'll all confess

The Heavens are Close

The heavens are, oh, so close
Via the Holy Ghost
As such- much, through prayer, will impart
If faith burns warm within the heart

For, as we know, God is the Father
And our Savior is Jesus the Christ
Our testimony of all three will gather
Unto strength and courage in this life!

A New Commandment, Save Thyself and Thy Kindred

Save thyself and thy kindred
There's redemption for the dead
We have two visions of salvation
To the Latter-Days there's revelation

Brother Joseph's vision adds to us light
They which are baptized, though dead, do rise
And, President Joseph F. Smith saw much too
He saw the innumerable dead and we've work to do

They've gospel truths which otherwise aren't found
They've come by way of commandment and we are bound
God's streams of living waters do and yet flow
Giving us the light and knowledge we need to know

From these two visions we must acknowledge
We have received further light and knowledge
His voice is still heard, His words are without end
The gospel has taught us how to save our kindred
