2 Timothy 1:7


Christ brings immortality and eternal life through the gospel—Be strong in the faith.


1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

 2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

 3 I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

 4 Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

 5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

 6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;

 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

 11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

 13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

 14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

In the light of a new year
Something warms each heart

The launching point was Thanksgiving
As the offering of thanks enlarges us
Then, with love, comes Christmas giving

Now is the time to search and build

What, through neglect does sleep?

For fear distracts and grasps us hard

Eating our time, so much that we stumble

Jesus Christ our peace giver
Is the Light, the Life, the Way
He is the First, and Last...forever
And says, "Let Not your heart be afraid"

When Fears Light Up

When fears light up
Speech centers shut down
For survival...telling us
To listen and not make a sound

Ironically, as this hides us
We actually find ourselves
As we think what might guide, thus
Unto resources... as one dwells

To help someone calm down
We might try a loving song
To soothe what does surround
And enable one to move along

In fear, at first, a child is quiet
Hoping to not be seen
Then explodes like a rocket
As the voice restores to scream

When we're set off with alarms
Prayer is a power that calms
That as we fold up our arms
The spirit lights us and balms

Thus fear and faith can't coexist...
For when we pray our fears dispel
That we might recover and resist
Through a process that does impel

When Joseph prayed in the grove
He was seized by an unseen power
Causing him to lose his tongue
Unto listening... as the first vision towered

Next time... when in a state of riot
As your worries and stress rage
Remember to use self-imposed quiet
And listen as the ears and heart engage

Then... start to converse
With yourself, God, or others
Feel the hormones reverse
As roaring fears are smothered!

We'll Not Take Counsel From our Fears

When there's evidence that Satan nears
We'll not take counsel from our fears
For we see there is so much to do
And we've not time to be anxious too

And since we know it's foolish to act in haste
We'll apply prayer whene'er fear gives to chase
For we're determined to live the good life
Where there is strength to see us through strife

Why Ever Should I Fear?

Why ever should I fear
With the Savior by my side?
For whenever He is near
Satan must leave and hide

Poor judgment brings in clouds
That darken and confuse
If I do what's not allowed
It's my covenants I abuse

This, I must remember
And hold Christ's light close to me
Giving thanks I'm a member
With ears to hear and eyes to see

His light is never far
It's ever above the storm
And, He's my pillar star
To lead me safe from harm

God Hath NOT Given Us the Spirit of Fear

God hath not given us the spirit of fear
We can be assured, He is ever so near
Full of power and love that is ours to find
May this knowledge calm us unto a sound mind

These words were written by the Apostle Paul
While he was imprisoned by a dungeon wall
And, soon to be "offered", he wrote to Timothy
Zealous in his desire to bear his testimony

What was this power that He spoke of and clung to?
The power of the priesthood and what it could do!
And his underlying faith, was the antidote for fear
Which strengthened him, although his sentence loomed more near

There is something worse than facing death of torture
Even if it's by scorch or wounds that puncture
It's the burden of shackles from the heavy load of sin
Which has to be the worst as it ever gnaws within

Fear has many faces: ridicule, loneliness, failure and ignorance
And when we fear the present we're thus defeated of future chance
But, regardless of the forms of fear, Satan lies at the root
And he would to knock us down and trap us by his boot

But, the Lord has said, "Look unto me in every thought"
And He would that we be faithful- to doubt not, and fear not
For His love can bridge the chasm of fear and despair
That we might overcome and witness He is ever there

And when we are free of worry and discouragement
We can move forward ever learning as we were meant
To walk in faith on the road that leads to our Father, hence
Ever gaining light and wisdom for the glory of intelligence

May we not give in to what is tawdry due to ridicule
But, live and love with sound minds unto the golden rule
Let us repent of any wrongdoings and be free from each sin
That we might be ever hopeful with virtue and peace within

Oh, How I Want a Change of Heart

Oh, how I want a change of heart
And, to give up my character flaws
I know now is the best time to start
As my past still threatens with claws

To all outward appearances I've changed
But, I don't like how I react and cope
Although with my past I've estranged
I still carry around a long rope

And, tied to the rope, I'll admit
Is worry and fretful living
And Oh how I wish that would quit
So, more from my heart I'd be giving

For I'll not avoid those who have needs
Out of fear that I will enable
To be like the Savior, one feeds
Compassion does not disable

For we all are in need of fellowship
There Christ dwells more in our hearts
As we enhance our membership

With the Lord's help, I know who I am
And, with a new heart, I've contentment

40 Behold, ye are little children and ye cannot bear all things now; ye must grow in grace and in the knowledge of the truth.
41 Fear not, little children, for you are mine, and I have overcome the world, and you are of them that my Father hath given me;
42 And none of them that my Father hath given me shall be lost.

MY PRAYER IS FILLED WITH FAITH

My prayer is filled with faith.
Please grant me vision and grace.
A child of God I am wanting.
Help me to see that life's not daunting.
Please take my doubts and cast them away.
For these things continually I pray.

Turmoil is full of lies.
Grant me strength to seek the wise.
Who's filled with compassion and love?
Their counsel comes from God above!
And while the kiln is still burning strong,
Please witness that to Thee I belong.

Please cast my fears aside.
With the Holy Ghost as my guide,
I then feel loves gentle smile.
Comforting me through each trial,
When I obey there is much to gain.
And gratitude sees past all of the pain.


A Bishops can lift earth stains.
And leaders I must sustain.
Call me to rise above my needs.
For others I will bend my knees.
And with my ward, I will serve, I will grow.
Together of Thee we'll come to know.
