The Passage of Time

The passage of time dims our old memories
And none too soon fades our sorrows and worries.
The pioneer trail where tears fell like rain
Now is a roller coaster of grief and pain.

While crimes creep higher to spiral upward
Decency careens society downward
And who can escape as the ride moves faster?
This thrill of the moment speeds to disaster!

Can we muster the courage for today?
As modern pioneers can we show others the way?
The path has been laid to eternity
May we blaze its trail bright with morality!

There Was a Test in the Spirit World

There was a test
In the spirit world
Ending peace and rest
As words were hurled

One third of heaven
Forever failed
God's plan was given
And they rebelled

Before we were born
We were all taught
Heaven became torn
As a war was fought

We stood by our Savior
Without any doubt
While Satan lost all favor
And to earth, was cast out

Now, knowing us as we truly are
He has an unseen advantage over us
To tempt and try...he is never far
Yet... we've helps to be morally courageous

The greatest being the Atonement
Given through the works of Jesus Christ
With His Spirit, if we are repentant
We'll be led unto eternal life

The scriptures are our guide
As we read them with the Holy Ghost
Too, as faith and prayer is applied
We receive what we need the most

Communication with God helps banish fear
Such that our hearts fill with faith and love
As through the priesthood protection nears
Come of our Father in Heaven above

Then, even if we are cast into a deep pit
By evil hands that would to destroy
Still, shining for us, is the Holy Spirit
Our greatest blessing, on earth, to enjoy

Elder Holland said. “We owe the same pioneering, persevering legacy to our children and our children’s children.”

Elder Holland spoke at the Ogden (Utah) Pioneer Days Devotional at the Dee Events Center at Weber State University on July 17, 2011, and encouraged individuals to work together while respecting and emulating their diverse pioneer heritage in their communities today.

“People working together are more successful, more prosperous and much more happy than neighborhoods or ethnic groups or religious faiths that are suspicious of one another, threatened by one another, and all too often hostile, even violent, toward one another,” he said.

This was inspired by comments to a man who posted the picture of his boots and stated it was his last day serving America as a soldier of 14 years.
Jon Gregory You might want to put a brush to those boots before you lace em up. LOL Thank you from the bottom of my heart, you have done what most Americans can only wish they would have done. Courage is a trait that most will never know if they have it, but you my friend have been there and done it, and supported those of us that stood by your side. I will never forget how you reached out to me from Oceans away and supported me and my team with a simple box from the Homefront. You will never know what that meant to me and my Soldiers. Thank you for you Service and sacrifice to this Great Country

For Such a Time as This

Esther looked oft beyond the gate

Courageous Adoption

Brothers...born in a war-zone

The boys were born in Iraq. The mum stayed in Iraq , during the war, until she could finally take them to Australia.

Of course, we will face fear, experience ridicule, and meet opposition. Let us have the courage to defy the consensus, the courage to stand for principle. Courage, not compromise, brings the smile of God’s approval. Courage becomes a living and an attractive virtue when it is regarded not only as a willingness to die manfully, but also as a determination to live decently. A moral coward is one who is afraid to do what he thinks is right because others will disapprove or laugh. Remember that all men have their fears, but those who face their fears with dignity have courage as well. 

Courage to Stand Alone

Sanctify the Lord in your hearts

Be ready always to speak

According to how the Spirit imparts

Offering up hope...as one meek

When the time comes to stand up

Let there not be any doubt

Recently in South America, a seasoned group of outstanding missionaries was asked, “What is the greatest need in the world?” One wisely responded: “Is not the greatest need in all of the world for every person to have a personal, ongoing, daily, continuing relationship with the Savior?” Having such a relationship can unchain the divinity within us, and nothing can make a greater difference in our lives as we come to know and understand our divine relationship with God.
We should earnestly seek not just to know about the Master, but to strive, as He invited, to be one with Him (see John 17:21), to “be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man” (Eph. 3:16).

It is my testimony that we are facing difficult times. We must be courageously obedient. My witness is that we will be called upon to prove our spiritual stamina, for the days ahead will be filled with affliction and difficulty. But with the assuring comfort of a personal relationship with the Savior, we will be given a calming courage.
