Two Antidotes for Anxiety- Work and Knowledge

Work is an antidote for anxiety,
A healing ointment for sorrow,
A doorway to possibility,
And a strength for others to borrow

Let us set our bodies and minds
Unto glorious excellence
There to roll up our sleeves and find
Hard labor does make a difference

If we constantly put our goals off
We will never see them fulfilled
Don't let time and foolishness rob
You of what endurance instills

And then at times with much to face
Through a love of learning we will witness
Knowledge does away with darkness
As it becomes a light to embrace

Too, let us seek for all that is virtuous,
Lovely, praiseworthy, or of good report
For the added light it brings to us
To drink deeply from the fountains of the Lord

The fruits of the gospel

Out of A Single Thought

Out of a single thought
So much more can grow
That from a single man
There is so much to know

I Believe in the Pursuit of Endless Learning

I believe in the pursuit of endless learning
That study and faith brings forth the highest earnings
And as a child's taught to be helpful through responsibilities
There's joy in service as well as more confidence in abilities

But, there is something more important than all of this
Which is the desire to observe, question and notice
That when a particular subject is introduced
The mind opens and a piqued interest is produced

For therein is absorption, that the learning is retained
That the student is edified and new wisdom is obtained
Unto the exploration of the simple as well as complex
Enjoying the unraveling process which some others would perplex

If I were hired by your academy
I know it will benefit you as well as me
As I would work to improve learning each day
For that is how to teach in an academic way

Learning is More than Quietly Reading

Learning is more than just quietly reading
It's asking and thinking and it's more- it's needing
There's so much around us that's for our viewing
That our minds commands of us to be ever doing

And around us all nature seems to be talking
This I observe and sense as I'm out walking
When our minds are filled with light, we feel peace
May it be our desire for this to ever increase

Four Steps to Learning

There are four steps to learning
(For knowledge comes through earning)
First, have a desiring mind
That's of an inquiring kind
Then, one must study out
What needs to come about?
And, with daily practice
The application's noticed
Then, while engaged in prayer
Ask that wisdom be made bare

For the discovering of goals
Choose models with good roles
Also, nourish your faith
And seek what scriptures sayeth
Learning can be misused
If not spiritually enthused
As there's a divine decree
To obtain that high degree
The way to revelation
Comes by way of invitation

Learn the law of the kingdom
Of your own activity
Then utilize the scriptures
To measure each thought and deed

There's divine direction
To see another way
Step by step t'wards perfection
There's truths to embrace each day

Knowledge

Knowledge is power in the world today
Or so that is what most people say
So why play about and waste all your time
You've a long way up and you must climb

When I Saw the Skies

When I saw the skies, all a smoke
All the surrounding hills in char
I wish now that in me it had awoke
That light, which has gone from me afar

Like words as a dream that has passed
Gone my fleeting memory
Until some day when upon it I cast
As part of my history

All we learn on earth will come back
Restored- and for evermore
Though, for now it's something we lack
We can train and extend and store

In the Celestial Kingdom

For an eternal end there are three degrees of heaven
And we ask, to which of these will we be given?
As it's those who have sealings who reach highest story
We can aim for where there is God's Celestial glory

If a person has gained much knowledge
Have they expanded to the very edge?
No, it must be balanced with diligence
As, too obedience combines with intelligence

For the blessings from God to be obtained
It requires some things be abstained
We must be more than just educated
There are laws on which things are predicated

There is an order to priesthood
Where in steps, God is understood
In the new and everlasting covenant
We reach higher, no longer ignorant

When our bodies are purified
We'll see what earth has denied
Our spirits are made of unique matter
That is fine and pure and cannot be shattered

Breathing and growing
Knowledge from the heart
Where all good things start

What of Our Tears?

What of our tears
Where do they drip from?
New pain and fears
And joy- then they come

We have feelings
And sacred learnings
With minds reeling
From each yearning

We each have the capacity to do good

Our time has limits- yes
And, the world rushes by
Who is in need of us?
Oh, if we had wings to fly...

When we are together
