Let Us Start by Sharing What's Happened This Week

Let us start by sharing what's happened this week
It's only a sentence, it's only a peek
Of who I am and what I like to do
And when it's my turn, I'll share it with you

Since I've been baptized, I've had a personal guide
That shows me the path that's best to decide
And as I explore all kinds of good things
I am learning about me, and how to gain strong feelings

You've Something That Sets You Apart

You've something that sets you apart
You've a sweet spirit and a gentle heart
You've all the resources to help you along
Parents, teachers, leaders to help you be strong

But, the biggest thing you have today
Is that heart felt desire to always pray
For it's Heavenly Father that knows you best
And His outstretched arms never need rest

It's through the Comforter that He speaks to you
To guide and assist you in all that you do
And, your brother Jesus Christ has shown the way
To be worthy to hear what the spirit does say

Achievement- Learning and Living the gospel

I am like a bear
Cuddly, soft, and sweet
My nose knows just where
Good foods are to eat

Like him, I can look
For good nourishment
In a quad sized book
I've God's testament

milk, I can drink....
But, I will look for meat
When I read, I link
And spiritually feast

I can hunt through and read
the scriptures there to  find
God's words truly does feed 
the spirit and the mind

This was a nice activity for our combined summer group.
They each brought their scriptures and a teddy bear or stuffed animal. When they came in, they picked out a ribbon to put on their bear. (Some of the bears were boys)They introduced themselves and their bear and (some were adopted and named on the spot) something special about it. Then we had a prayer.

I asked questions about bears in the garden of Eden, why we could play with them. And that we will be able to when Jesus comes and we enjoy the millennium. I asked questions about what they eat, how they find it and what ways we are similar to bears. We made bookmarks. Then we talked about what the scriptures do for our spirits and that food is mentioned a lot in the scriptures and how we are nourished when we read.
Then we played a scripture hunt. (like bears) First I told them to start with 4 colors, and to write in that color, where the scriptures talked about things on the list. We had two teams and they tried to find a scripture with each of the words. I made sure that they knew the four books to look in -Book of Mormon, Old Testament, New Testament and Doctrine and Covenants/Pearl of Great Price.

Father's Day Achievement

I'm thankful for the time we spend

And all the places that we go

You're my father. You're my friend

The Honored Title Father

The honored title, Father, means much to me

As I ponder my eternal family.

Rightly and first is God, in Heaven above.

I am His child, born of Him, in Spirit and love.

Next, is the Father and creator of Earth.

Who, through the Atonement, taught us our worth.

The next might surprise you. It is Adam.

For, his life spent fallen, brought about all man.

Still there are more before I get to my own.

There is Noah, whose ark saved all life, alone.

Then, there is Abraham and the covenant of his seed.

His children outnumber the sands of the sea.

I can’t forget the one who adopted the Lord of us all.

My Dad

My Dad throws me way up high

It’s June and in my corner of the world, that means warmer weather, summer vacations, kids out of school and Father’s Day! In just over a week we will be celebrating the influence of dads in our lives. United Families International has researched the critical place fathers play in the lives of their children.

We recognize that dad is not only the one to toss us high into the air, teach us to ride a bike and fix its flat, loosen the tight grip on the pickle jar, move our boxes as we go away to college and comfort us when we make mistakes, but fathers also provide the security that keeps kids in school, and out of drugs, mischief and prisons. Social science clearly shows that having a father in the home lessens substantially the risks of unhappy, delinquent children in society.

I wish to thank Tom Christensen for the following write up on fathers. Having been involved in pro-family work for over 25 years and as the father of 16 children, Tom certainly understands the importance of fathers and families in a healthy society!
