With Clarity and With Warning

With clarity and with warning
I must speak of what's alarming
When reverence for life is lost
The unborn are who pay the cost

For God has promised prosperity
To those who don't commit atrocity
And when laws pass that sanction this act
What justification can excuse this fact...

To define meaningful life by gestation
Cannot be done by vote or legislation
For wonders begin when the first cells unite
As DNA's established unto a new life

With sixty million deaths each year
The senseless assault has been made clear
That the innocent and the voiceless
Have not been heard and are thus choiceless

They're the casualties of a war
That's against the purpose we're here for
Which is to gain bodies of destiny
For eternity, as heirs to rest in peace

Just like an astronaut who is set for space
One cannot abort once the lift off is made
For the journey goes on in life, then in death
And can't be stiffled by the prevention of breath

And thus one cannot unchoose a consequence
As trails lead to parenthood beyond a fence
"Quick there's a way to repent and make repair
Surrender that child to another's kind care...

Dear Mother, of the fetus with two hands and feet,
Once you've felt it move inside, can you still that heart beat?
How sad the fact it will never know a kiss
And my eyes mist for all the joy this life will miss"

Can there be repentance- with God's laws so exact?
Is there any hope for those who've chosen this act?
The answer is YES!- to those who truly repent
Then the sinner's no longer harrowed up and bent

Anyone's life is not meant to be destroyed
We're all part of God's creations here to be enjoyed
And as life comes from life without accident
May we reverence God, that we're each heaven sent

Faith in Jesus Christ

The genesis of a human body
Begins with the union of just two cells
Twenty- three chromosomes from each unite
What this child will look like, this cell foretells.

Twenty- two days later, heart beats are heard.
In four more days blood's in circulation.
As cells multiply and divide away,
Into an amazing creation.

From electricity, the heart works hard.
Delicate valves open and close in pace.
Soon form the eyes to see and ears to hear,
As the nerves and muscles grow in their place.

The body is made with back-up systems
Tools for resistance are generated.
The bones can mend, skin can heal, and leaks can seal.
As fixed temperatures are regulated.

Unto every kingdom is given a law.
And every law has bounds and conditions.
This scientists can measure and define,
Laws apply to all of God's creations.

The phase of the moon, the stars in the sky-
Their courses are fixed to heaven and earth.
Such order bears witness of majesty.
In seven days, God formed law and all birth.

The scriptures declare of our beginning.
Each man's been organized in God's image.
The male and female, created He them,
For us laws were formed, to the very edge.

Dynamic faith in our Lord Jesus Christ
Lends to our minds a new way of thinking.
Works form a conversion and change of heart,
Dawned from His Living wells we're drinking.

We're made alive in Christ, because of faith
And of Him we're spiritually begotten.
There's strength to press forward with steadfastness,
Feeling the love of God unto all men.

With the Book of Mormon and the Bible,
We've scriptures in each hand and we promise.
With full purpose of heart, we preach of Christ.
Showing through works and faith we are His.

I testify that Jesus is the Christ,
The Son of the Living Father
Our Savior, Lord and Advocate.
Exemplar and King, whom we honor.

Jesus Christ the Master Healer

Why did the Savior suffer for me?
He must know and love me so deeply!
My debt to Him is incalculably great.
For He bore my pains and sins, even hate!
What power was His to carry this load?
He our promise of a heavenly abode

When I've sore trials that I must bear,
I'll deepen my faith and trust He is there.
I know He can heal wounds and broken hearts.
That peace and comfort, His Spirit imparts.
His gift to each can't be destroyed by death.
For I know He grants me His living breath.

The Master Healer in perfect frame,
Gives resurrection to those once lame.
Am I not also in need of healing?
Thanks to Him, tender mercy I am feeling.
Thanks to Him, I've hope and bright days ahead.
As He heals me, with His water and bread.

[Verse 1]
Why did the Savior suffer for me?
He must know and love me so deeply!
My debt to Him is incalculably great.
For He bore all the world's sins, at Hells' gate!
What power was His to carry the load?
To lift all flesh to a heav'nly abode?

Chorus]
How deep, the love of Jesus
the Master Healer of us all
He suffered deeply for us
He conquered sin and death- His call

[Verse 2]
I have sore trials that I must bear,
They deepen my faith.  I feel His kind care.
I know He heals wounds and mends broken hearts.
That peace and comfort, His Spirit imparts.
His gift to each cannot be destroyed by death.
He offers to all, His life giving breath.

Chorus]
How deep, the love of Jesus
the Master Healer of us all
He suffered deeply for us
He conquered sin and death- His call

[Verse 3]
The Master Healer in perfect frame,
Gives resurrection to those once lame.
Am I not also in need of this healing?
Thanks to Him, I am not past feeling.
Thanks to Him, there are brighter days ahead.
As He heals me I am spiritually fed.

Chorus]
How deep, the love of Jesus
the Master Healer of us all
He suffered deeply for us
He conquered sin and death- His call

-Elder Russell M. Nelson- Jesus suffered deeply,
because He loves us deeply

In A Day That's Lacking Restraint

In a day that's lacking in restraint.
We need to be wholesome and quaint.
The Master has called out, “repent”.
To proclaim this- prophets were sent.
We can be washed and found worthy.
We can have hope on our journey.
Spread the news to all upon the land.
The Kingdom of God is now at hand.
We can change and come unto Christ,
Thus avoiding a sad tragic life.
The prize of joy is worth the price!
For those who are swamped much in sin.
The gospel life helps us change from within.

What does it mean to repent?
Does it mean we feel some regret?
Our sorrow must be so sincere.
Each patient step must include prayer.
The first step is recognition.
Then there's remorse unto confession.
We confess to all those we offend.
Though we're sincere, this in not the end.
The next step is restitution.
We can restore without spite's friction.
We'll show faith to this fruition.
For all those who are swamped much in sin.
The gospel life brings a change from within.

When Jesus said we must repent.
With soul and mind is what He meant.
To not repeat, He said there's more.
For we've eternal life in store.
We're asked to change even our breath,
Thus avoiding a spiritual death.
When we repent we are converted.
Our whole being is then diverted.
We repent in thought and in deed.
The fruit of repentance is so sweet!
With the love of God as our treat.
For all those who are swamped much in sin.
The gospel life builds us from deep within.

Repentance is not easy
But the prize is worth the price
The steps may be humbling
But they bring you close to Christ

Doors of Death

Broken into two songs:

A crucial component of life
Comes at the doors of death
When we lose a husband or wife
We feel lost and bereft
The separation evokes pangs
Of loneliness and shock
Where this heavy door hangs
There's an unbearable clock

The younger the greater the grief
They're seen as a victim
The tragedy's beyond belief
The loved one's far stricken
Yet, even when the infirm are called
Though it gives them relief
In some way they had stalled
And their last good-bye seems brief

The deepest expression of love
Is to mourn for those we've lost
We've divine command from above
To weep when there's a loss
The only way to avoid tears
Is to remove all the love
Oh, the reunion with our dears
When we return to home above!

God's our primary directive
Spiritually for handling
When we've eternal perspective
We've peace past understanding
Life does not begin with birth
Nor does it end with death
Prior to birth we had worth
We'll go on without breath

As seedlings of God while on earth
We were born to die and then live
From blossoms to flowers of worth
We've a journey with a motive
To everything there's a season,
A time, a plan, and a purpose
We each are here for a reason
And life's lessons will further us

Home Above

We pass through- not around deaths doors
On a returning trip
To live with the Father once more
Though trials we would to skip
Deaths essential to happiness
And there's life beyond the veil
If we could just peek and witness-
How we'd prepare there to dwell!

For, this much we know within
The real sting of death is sin
As the spirit's mortified
From God, separate, and denied
With opportunity gone
As we see clearly each wrong
That of our sins, we'll not be saved
Except we repent, and have them waived

The twilight of life is long
It's difficult to be strong
We must endure physically
And learn to cope spiritually
We've a divine injunction
To endure till there's no function
With heavy hardships how we lean
But, with them much can be gleaned

We must endure our trials
And suffer long with kind smiles
We'll pattern after the Lord
Through suffering, He loved, adored
And after tribulation
We're promised blessing's station
Our life is temporary
Then there's extraordinary

Returned to God and His home
Where a state of rest is known
This is temporary still
According to our Father's will
The grave must deliver up
The body and spirit cuff
To become a living soul
That's immortal in its new role

Our bodies will be perfect
As they are no longer subject
With eternal laws employed
These bodies can't be destroyed
Then comes the day of our Lord
Where our judgment is offered
There we'll be judged of our works
Presided by Christ and not clerks

Those who've almost to death crashed
Report seeing their whole life flashed
Having a rapid recall
They saw good and bad- It all
There's a sense of returning
And of a bright light burning
Some have seen their ancestors
But, their time was not answered

They live to tell us of peace
We know that life will increase
This is our time to prepare
We can bless others with kind care
Be generous and give thanks
And seal unto your family its ranks
For with loved ones close to enjoy
Death's door will be sweet unto joy

When our departure's at hand
May the veil of death be thin
As loved ones on both sides stand
There's comfort to journey in
Death does not hold one hostage
But, it will come eventually
When we've reached our time full-fledged
Then we slip away ever so gently

Surpassing all Technology- Prayer

Surpassing all technology
Prayer can access the heavens
Without hardware, software, or a monthly fee
This timeless offer extends for free

Initiated through faith in Jesus Christ
The invitation is: ask and it shall be given
After having received divine light
And with the intention to follow through with Him

Then with a process of sifting
We must study things out in our minds
There to feel, within, a burning
To confirm it's a righteous need to find

Indeed, the richest things we learn
Come by accepting the will of the Father
And, we must be humble to discern
For, that which is revelation ought to be honored

The Lord asks that we unify and develop
With an eye, single to the glory of God
Growing in faith and hope with charity enveloped
Giving thanks for the strength to obey His laws

Then, for the building up of God's kingdom
And... as one having lent an ear unto His word
We can receive line upon line... inspired wisdom
As, through the veil, it is spiritually discerned

Aging Body

The perspective of the wise
See with more maturing eyes
The body does funny things,
The aging process, it brings!
The broad shoulders and narrow waist
Trade and take each other's place
The hair loses strength, placement, and color
And couples start to look like each other

I think this is funny.  I found two really long eyebrow hairs on my 52 year old face.  My husband has crazy eyebrows, if he doesn't get them trimmed!

Ask the Missionaries

Ask the missionaries
They can help you
With them each carries
What sees them through...

We can Change

We can change ourselves
Our behaviors and desires
Through our Lord who helps
Who enables and inspires

He can heal and cleanse
As we come unto Him
Through the atonement
We are changed from within

"We can change our behavior. Our very desires can change. How? There is only one way. True change—permanent change—can come only through the healing, cleansing, and enabling power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ."

Hastening more Along

Hastening more along
The uncut stone moves on
Faster than ever before
All for the work of the Lord.

My dear brothers and sisters, I am grateful to be with you on this special occasion. This event is historic because we have in attendance 173 new mission presidents and their companions! They come from 19 different countries and are assigned to serve in 50 nations around the world. This record number of new mission presidents, coupled with the record number of 70,000-plus missionaries, are significant signs that the Lord is hastening His work.

The Good News Comes Alive

 The good news comes alive
Through an individual's story
Conversions unto Christ
Are for God' work and glory.
Missionary work comes alive when we hear remarkable stories of individual conversion. I would like to begin my message today by relating a conversation recently recorded with Sister Neill F. Marriott, sustained last April as second counselor in the general Young Women presidency. Many lessons can be learned as you listen carefully to her story.

Callings Build on Each Other

Callings build on each other
Anchored on Christ.
Linking lessons together
Lifting us to light.

Well, I love Church meetings. I know that sounds strange, but my real heart is in my home. And so with each calling—and they did seem to build one on another—I would take care of my home first. Some meetings I missed, but it wasn’t an intrusion on family life. If anything, it taught me to be a better mother.
ELDER NELSON
You’re a better mother because you’re anchored to the gospel.

Love Everyone

Love everyone
Not just the favored few.
We have work to get done.
Those we reach will help too.
The most effective missionaries always act out of love. Love is the lubricant and life of good missionary work.
The father in the parable loved each child. So we too should act out of love to help all, not just a favored few. Opportunities come in various ways, and sadly, some of those are missed opportunities.

Have Faith the Drought will End

Have faith the drought will end
And souls will come your way.
Pray the floodgates open
More and more each day.

Plan for each rescue
Bring them safely in
There is much to do
To wash souls, begin.

PRESIDENT BOWMAN
We were concerned as a presidency about what was happening, and we counseled together. So we sent a letter out, asking the members to join together in a fast for missionary work and for the drought.
CHRIS EUBANKS
We received this letter, and the entire stake and other stakes around us fasted, and the missionary work immediately started to pick up.
The floodgates kind of opened up, and everybody was getting involved.

The Work of Our Father

The work of our Father
Excludes naught a one.
Look after each other...
Enthused get things done!

The work of salvation excludes no one! Missionaries and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are sent forth to labor in the Lord’s vineyard for the salvation of the souls of men.1 This includes member missionary work at its best, with activation of less-active members and preparation of God’s children for all the blessings of the temple. God wants all of His children to return to Him and qualify for eternal life.

The Work of Salvation: Parable of a Father at Bedtime
In the dim light
From the doorway
Review the night
And the long day.

Who is asleep
Tucked safe in bed?
Who needs watch-keep?
Father, be led!

It Takes Faith to Obey

It takes faith to obey

"You will encounter people who pick which commandments they will keep and which they will ignore. This practice of picking and choosing will not work. It will lead to misery. To prepare to meet God, you need to keep all of His commandments. It takes faith to obey them, and keeping His commandments will strengthen that faith."

He's Been There Before

He's Been There Before by Elder Troy Whittle
The alarm bell rings at 6:30, I stumble to my feet
I grab my companions bedding and pull off his sheets
A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise?
It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes

The morning activities follow- study, prayer and such
When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't accomplished much
"We have a super day planned," My comp. says with a grin
I lowly utter a faithless breath, "Yeah, if anyone lets us in."

With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street prepared to
Face another day of humidity and heat
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through
My champion and I are riding home not accomplishing what we thought to do

We ride up to the mailbox, hoping to receive a lot
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air Box"
We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete
The only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet

It's past 10:30 p.m. My companion is fast asleep,
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep
In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray
I need to talk to father, but I'm not sure what to say

"Oh, Father" I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away
My hands, my aching hands- worn, hurt and beat;
If our area was any smaller, we'd have knocked every street"

"Why on missions are the days so much alike?
The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike
Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes, it's very hard to see"

"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough?
People always laugh at me, and call me stupid stuff
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack
I want to give them Books of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back"

"And what about my family: They don't have much to say
I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day after day
Oh Father, Why am I here am I just wasting time?
Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind"

"My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?
"The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see
Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you"

My prayer now finished, I stand up, then jump right into bed
I need my rest for tomorrow, we have another long day ahead
Sleep start to overtake me, I seem to drift away
Then it seems a vision takes me to another time in another day

I'm standing alone on the hill. The view is very nice
A man walks to wards me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ"
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet
"Arise," He states, "Follow me to the shade. You and I need to speak"

My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete
He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me
I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through
In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you"

"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you
At times I felt not quite sure what else I could do
I know you don't like to ride a bicycle, for you a car would be sweet
Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds"

"I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something you hate
I remember when I sweat blood from ev’ry pore, oh the agony was great!
I see you don't like your companion- you'd rather have someone else-
I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth"

"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you
I remember when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back"

"Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking on doors all day
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way
It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me"
He embraced me with His arms and His light filled me with His love
With tears in my eyes I watched as He went back to the Father above

I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head
I listened and heard the alarm, then realized I was in my bed
My companion let out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

No matter what we go through, when we feel we can't take more
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ, He's been there before

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

These poems are my own thoughts and impressions as I study the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints

I encourage you to read from the Book of Mormon and the standard works, and listen to modern day prophets, also, that your mind and heart might be touched.
