Shannon's Words

The Lord looks on the heart
And knows our every need
If we do our part
To great places He will lead

At birth she fit in one hand
And her development was slow
Academics was hard to understand
But she shone in ways most will never know

For she could play a tune by ear
And sign to the deaf
With the Spirit near
She became quite adept

Through a burning desire
She was called on a mission
This truly did try her
As shyness was an admission

She trusted in her call
That the Lord knew her best
Humble, she gave her all
And let the Spirit do the rest

She doesn't remember what she said
As a man sat beside her
He asked her about what she read
She opened her mouth, and let God guide her

Proving prepared to hear
The words that she could sign
His loved ones soon drew near
All a part of God's design

You don't have to be smart
To serve our Heavenly Father
Just desire to do your part
And He'll take you that much farther

Verse 1] The Lord looks on the heart And knows our every need If we do our part To great places He will lead At birth she fit in one hand And her growth came slow Academics were hard to understand But grace was there to show [Pre-Chorus] She could play a tune by ear And sign to the deaf With the Spirit near She became quite adept [Chorus] Let God guide her Let God guide her He knew her best He knew her best Humble, she gave her all And let the Spirit lead Let God guide her That was all she’d need [Verse 2] For a burning desire She was called on a mission That road could try her Shyness was in the picture She trusted in her call That the Lord knew her best Humble, she gave her all And let the Spirit do the rest [Pre-Chorus] She doesn't remember what she said As a man sat beside her He asked her about what she read She opened her mouth, and let God guide her [Chorus] Let God guide her Let God guide her He knew her best He knew her best His loved ones soon drew near All a part of God's design The words that they could hear Came right on time [Bridge] You don't have to be smart To serve our Heavenly Father Just desire to do your part And He'll take you that much farther [Final Chorus] Let God guide her Let God guide her He knew her best He knew her best You don’t have to be smart To serve our Heavenly Father Just desire to do your part And He’ll take you that much farther

My thought when watching was that New York City would eat her alive.  Such a sweet girl.

I was watching this video (can't find anymore)- and saw that the mission president and his wife were faces from the past. My old Bishop! Over 20 years ago!

The world is oh, so small-
and getting only smaller.
Through the internet and all.
And the design of Heavenly Father.

Holy Higher Education

Weighing the options outside of high school

I thought of a mission or a career path

To bring a scale out... who would I fool?

My eternal future does not require math

Nor would I use sole reasoning to decide

For things of the spirit require confirmation

Prayerfully seeking the Holy Ghost to guide

This is the truest meaning of seeking higher education

If Jesus were just a good man with wonderful advice

Then, any path as a good person would suffice

But He is the Son of God, who laid His life down to submit

To all that is required to provide for us the atonement

A mission field to proclaim His gospel!

I want to be a part of His holy plan

As through the spirit all things are possible

I will prepare to serve and teach who and where I can

Elder Cook spoke to BYU Idaho students October 25 and shared a personal story. His older brother shared his testimony and reasoning for going on a mission when their father was pressuring him to continue his path for medical school. This was a tough decision, I am sure he did not want to displease his father.

"As we reasoned it out we concluded: If Jesus Christ was a great man but not divine, if the Book of Mormon had wonderful counsel but was not the Word of God, or, if Joseph Smith was a wonderful teacher but not a prophet, then dad was right— one could do more good by going to medical school. But, if Jesus Christ is divine the Son of God and the Savior of the world, if the Book of Mormon is the Word of God, and if Joseph Smith is the prophet of the Restoration, then it would be more important to accept the call and proclaim the gospel."

Hinenii Here Am I

This word was introduced to me by Charlie Kirk. I heard him point out to a student where the shirt, "Here I Am, Send Me" what that means in one word.

When called of the Lord Think: "Here I am, send me" And in thanks give the word Hineni Moses led a nation Abraham learned of sacrifice Samuel woke to God's voice Isaiah had a vision In all they did rejoice The mission call's for each We are called to preach Don't cave to apprehension Let His Spirit teach Those He calls He prepares He qualifies to do Some are slow of speech Some are old, some are young Still the call goes forth for each To open their mouths and teach He takes us as we are As we respond with faith He strengthens to go far And makes us something great Here I am your vessel Use me To Thy will, in readiness, in obedience to do Here I am all of me, with all that I am and all that I can be. Here I am your vessel Use me To Thy will, in readiness, in obedience to do Here I am all of me, with all that I am and all that I can be.

The song is not done until you finish it with, "Hineni".

How Can I Know Who I Really Am?

I wrote this at the Las Vegas airport.  I just  found out that my friend's dad passed away and I wished I could be there.  She was already going through a lot. I was considering giving her this pamphlet, through a missionary's prompt.

Have you ever hungered to know who you are really?  That was me when I was getting my patriarchal blessing!

[Verse 1]
[F] How can I know who I really am?
[M] You are God's child. You are part of His plan.
[F] I have learned some, of His Son, Jesus
[M] He walked on earth. He lived and died for us.

[F] Am I too late, to follow His ways?
[F] Through Heaven's gate at the end of my days
[M] It's not too late! I'll teach you how to pray
[M] To repent and make changes, now, today

[Chorus]
[M] It’s not too late!
[M] You are God's child
[M] Start today, you can pray

[Verse 2]
[F] Thanks, is that all? I feel there should be more
[M] We can teach you. We've the priesthood of the Lord
[M] His church is here, you can pray to know it's right
[M] Become a Saint, of The Church of Jesus Christ

[M] Come be baptized and washed clean unto Him
[M] His commandments, come find strength to do them!
[M] Then, the Holy Ghost can always to be with you
[M] The sacrament, too, will wash you clean, anew!

[Chorus]
[F] It is not too late
[F] I am God's child
[F] Daily, weekly I can pray

[Bridge]
[M] Find who you are and be called to His work
[M] In Sunday school we'll help you read His word
[M] His grace, His mercy for peace of conscience;
[M] For worthiness, at life's end, to enter God's presence!

[Chorus]
[F] It is not too late
[F] I am God's child
[F] Daily, weekly I can pray

F] It is not too late [F] I am God's child [F] How I feel blessed today!

I tried to get different voices for this song and it didn't work out. The second version is SUNO's variation.

[Verse 1] [M] How can I know who I really am? [F] You are God's child. You are part of His plan. [M] I have learned some, of His Son, Jesus [F] He walked on earth. He lived and died for us. [Pre-Chorus] [F] Am I too late, to follow His ways? [F] Through Heaven's gate at the end of my days [M] It's not too late! I'll teach you how to pray [M] To repent and make changes, now, today [Chorus] [M] You are God's child [F] You are God's child [M] It’s not too late! [F] It’s not too late! [M] Come back to Him [F] Come back to Him [M] You are His own [F] You are His own [Verse 2] [F] Thanks, is that all? I feel there should be more [M] We can teach you. We've the priesthood of the Lord [M] His church is here, you can pray to know it's right [M] Become a Saint, of The Church of Jesus Christ [Pre-Chorus] [M] Come be baptized and washed clean unto Him [M] His commandments, come find strength to do them! Preach the Gospel

[Verse 1]
Preach the gospel
Unto all people
Teach what is true
Be Thou humble
And fill the temple
There is work to do

[Pre-Chorus]
Come and unite
With oil for light
Awake and watch keep
Do what is right
The goal is in sight
Call in the lost sheep

[Chorus]
There is work to do
(There is work to do)
There is work to do
(There is work to do)
Keep the mind pure
And walk on through
There is work to do

[Verse 2]
Keep the mind pure
There's help to endure
Great blessings await
There is treasure
Of greatest pleasure
On the path that is straight

[Pre-Chorus]
Come and unite
With oil for light
Awake and watch keep
Do what is right
The goal is in sight
Call in the lost sheep

[Chorus]
There is work to do
(There is work to do)
There is work to do
(There is work to do)
Keep the mind pure
And walk on through
There is work to do

[Bridge]
Great blessings await
Even now, don't wait
Hold fast to the light
One heart, one flame
One holy name
Till morning turns bright

[Chorus]
There is work to do
(There is work to do)
There is work to do
(There is work to do)
Keep the mind pure
And walk on through
There is work to do

Faith in Troubling Times

Express and act on faith

In these troubling times

Explosions we will face

As the end designs

We'll see many signs

We pray for a revival

A turning of hearts towards Christ

We await His arrival

And fill up our lamps with His Light,

For the wedding feast, day or night

A woman in our ward spoke of her sister on a service mission in the Oman/Dubai region. She could see explosions in the distance and spoke of traveling by faith....

A Work in Progress- Forgoing Sports for a Mission- Giving His Best Shot

Parable of the Freethrow Line- Tyler Haws

It is in the doing
That goals do not fade
Through endless freethrowing
The best is displayed

You can make history
Through hours of labor
But for whom goes the glory
Without the Savior?

Presented with a great shot
He knew this was one to make
Thus, a mission life was sought
As precious souls were at stake

I am a work in progress
To himself, he oft says
Thus he would keep his promise
Made in childhood days

Being one to labor
Having vision, to give his best shot
He'd represent the Savior
On a mission, and give it all he's got

[Verse 1] It is in the doing That goals do not fade Through endless freethrowing The best is displayed You can make history Through hours of labor But for whom goes the glory Without the Savior? [Pre-Chorus] Presented with a great shot He knew this was one to make Thus, a mission life was sought As precious souls were at stake [Chorus] On a mission On a mission Give it all he's got On a mission On a mission He'd represent the Savior [Verse 2] I am a work in progress To himself, he oft says Thus he would keep his promise Made in childhood days Being one to labor Having vision, to give his best shot He'd represent the Savior On a mission, and give it all he's got [Chorus] On a mission On a mission Give it all he's got On a mission On a mission He'd represent the Savior [Bridge] Hours on the floor And knees in prayer No empty applause Can take him there Precious souls ahead A call rings clear He keeps the promise Year by year [Final Chorus] On a mission On a mission Give it all he's got On a mission On a mission He'd represent the Savior On a mission On a mission Give it all he's got

Stay on the Right Path

Stay on the right path
My parents called out as I left
And I did as they asked
Until... I overslept

Then... I missed a Sunday
Because I was so tired
And with the afternoon too sunny
To the mall's coolness I retired

There, I met a cute girl
The one of my dreams
And Sunday's our only day
As she works so much, it seems

I brought her to church one day
But, she thought the day too long
Well, I'll just go to pray...
But, also that proved wrong

For though I arrived on time
No one was to be seen
The conference was at nine
So I sat alone to weep

What has happened to me?
I think I've lost my way
Having misplaced my duty
I'd not kept the Sabbath day

From now on I promise
For myself and to God
To never again do this
For to the Lord I'd give my all

Weeks passed... I thought things through
I recognized how much, alone, I lacked
And with such gratitude... I knew
That I was back on the right track

And doing what I truly wanted
I sought a chance to further progress
To serve a mission and make a difference
And share with others how I'd been impressed

The Highs and Lows of Mission Life

The highs and lows of mission life
Are born of service, love, and strife

Books are read as minds prepare
Calls are made, before thoughts fade
From what is born, wisdom is shared
A seedling grows, a pattern is laid
All because two Elders cared

The spirit is felt... the joy is sweet
The cigarettes are tossed at the third meet

But... a night with friends, bad habits return
The investigator starts to avoid...
Yet...what once was discerned can be relearned
For there is a void when something is destroyed
Years pass...there's a hunger that burns

An Elder only see's the width
And knows not of the length nor breadth

Thus time goes on with or without the song
And the spirit proves what God behooves
For He's never gone, and His arms reach long
What's been buried moves when what's hard removes
A brightness dawns and light burns strong...

To witness new that with God we belong
So missionaries please carry on and on and on...

And come the day you go home... what of your life?
Will you soon comb for and find a wife?

Will you serve with an increased verve?
As love more flows and the family grows
What has been reserved will you preserve?
One must not doze, but train as example shows
For children observe as too they curve and swerve

On what descends, whate'er life dishes
Good luck my friends and best wishes

Preach My Gospel

Preach my gospel
Unto the people
Give them my love
And Father's above

Help them to know
My waters still flow
Teach of my ways
And how best to pray

Those that hear it
Will feel the Spirit
Which testifies
That I hear their cries

As they begin
To reach towards heaven
They'll find treasures
Within in the scriptures

Please be my voice
The rest is their choice
Bless you my son,
From the Beloved One

Introduction- Preach My gospel

Preach My Gospel
Is a book that's flexible
Read all the stories
For in them principles are seen

Rise and commit
To pray and seek the spirit
Much lies before
There's suggestions where to find more

Prepare every day
Rehearse what you will say
There are many lessons
That will answer basic questions

Also, there are quotes
And, margins to write your notes
Before your very eyes
Your testimony will gently rise

Daily make a record
What you learn from the Lord
Memorize a scripture
Let it be a lifetime treasure
Best wishes to you on this endeavor

The Bar is Rising

Continually, the bar is rising
For the missionaries prepared to serve
Surprisingly, there's no downsizing
As we've plenty and they show great verve

The message can not be memorized
As from the scriptures the truths will come
And a testimony must burn bright
So it can be shared with that special one

And may they see through your example
How to humbly pray and know for themselves
Then nothing can weaken or trample
The plant grown where one continually delves

Little Remnants

Little remnants of thought
Where do they come from?
No matter how hard fought
Minds can't be made numb

We've no drug or disease
To completely erase
Nor will time appease
All we've likened to chase

The twisting of doctrines
And shading of laws
Have led to darkened skins
And torn murmuring claws

We've the Preach My Gospel
It is for all the earth
May knowledge soon pool
Unto cleansing and rebirth

Come and bask in the truth
And in the pure sunlight
Where fountains yields fruit
As thoughts turn to what is right

Nephi and Lehi, Named of Their Forebears

Nephi and Lehi, named of their forebears
Patterned their lives after the names they held dear
And when Nephi's judgment seat not overturn sin
He switched to missionary work and taught doctrine

For the laws were corrupt from the pride that increased
And for the most part, their righteousness had ceased
They were ripening towards utter destruction
And he knew they were in need of God's instruction

They, by their own voice, chose what made the skin crawl
Refusing to be governed by any good at all
And Nephi had now weary of unraveling each instance
For his remainder, he sought to preach repentance

Lehi went with Nephi and took courage to heart
From their parents words, strength did impart
And as exemplary sons they took on new covenants
True to their good names, they'd now be God's servants

Reading King Benjamen's words they had an impression
That there's only one way to receive sin's remissions
Their goals were good works, they sought not to boast
But to remember what they'd been taught and whom they loved most

By no other way shall mankind be saved
But by the atonement, where judgment is waived
The treasures of heaven need not fade away
For there would be a Savior to pave them the way

He who, by no other means and by no other,
Would come to the earth and be our honored brother
To redeem us from the fall without precondition
He would provide us light by which to re position

Our Lord is a rock, a solid foundation
Whom to build upon for life and salvation
We'll not be dragged down with the devil's winds
Nor by mighty storms or whate'er he sends

First to Bountiful, they preached of God's word
Then to each city- they'll work till all have heard
They preached with power to the dissenters
Soon they were humbled, to where faith then enters

Then for the Lamanites, the brothers prepared
To rid long hard feelings- how are hearts repaired?
They had the traditions of their fathers of old
Would they abandon them with preaching that's bold?

In Zarahemla, thousands were baptized
How were they convinced? Truth is recognized!
While other Lamanites were soon so angered
That the two men's lives became endangered

They were arrested and put into a dark jail
But after a few days, this hatred would fail
Lehi and Nephi, while suffering much from neglect
The guards were taught to treat them with respect

These two brothers, became encircled with fire
And were safe to preach to their hearts desire
The prison walls shook and so did the ground
And on them all looked from the darkness around

"Repent ye, repent," they heard a lone voice speak-
In perfect mildness, twas still, how they then shook
Again, then again, the trembling began
The marvelous words could not uttered by man

When we are wicked, who will caution us?
And show us the way t'wards our Lord, Jesus?
But, the missionaries, God's ambassadors
Modeling the Savior, as they knock on hard doors

They've God's instructions and priesthood for power
The faith of a seed will come to grow and flower
Too, they rely on us to give them a name
A door that will open- and be glad they came

The Rescue of Alma the Younger

Alma the Younger did more than waste away his youth.
An angel helped him to face this long avoided truth
He had made life hard for members of the church...
But, now rebuked, the guilt felt began to churn

With anguish of soul, none would want to know of
For three bitter days he lay in death's deep coma
Confronting every sin was extremely hard to bear
This was truly an answer to his father's constant prayer

Then as one rescued from the darkest abyss
Alma was awakened to a life of promise
Becoming an example of change, light, and hope-
(One does not have to stay alone, in the dark, to grope)

As to Christ, Alma repented and cried deeply in his heart
He found mercy and deliverance – and a new path to start
Spending the remainder of his many blessed days
Preaching and teaching others how to change their ways

Thank you Phil- author of:
Clean Hands, Pure Heart:
Overcoming Addiction to Pornography
Through the Redeeming Power of Jesus Christ

In this Book, author, Philip A. Harrison relates
his journey out of addiction to pornography into
recovery and freedom. He explains: "like Paul and
Alma the Younger, who also spent a portion of their life
in serious darkness and were delivered from it by
Christ Himself, I am willing to allow my life to be an
example of someone the Lord has rescued from
'the darkest abyss.'"
Using the scriptures and teachings of Church Leaders,
Phil leads us through the process of coming unto Christ
and having our burdens lifted. For those who have
struggled with sexual addiction or any other
overwhelming challenge , as well as for those who
care about them, this book offers welcome help,
guidance and hope.

The Bombs Fell Again, Today

The bombs fell again, today
Making the sky a dismal gray
The stock market too took a dive
Aren't we all glad we're yet alive?

When conflicts and wars get worse
Do we think we live in curse?
Will we spend on food or gas?
Do we wish this state would pass?

When so many do what's hard to tell
Is it no wonder our poor hearts fail?
The scriptures told of this anxious day
We are all in need of help for which we must pray

Yet, this is the best time, in light, to live
While mankind is being sifted with a sieve
Of our many trials, God is aware
And we can find Him, He is always there

God's breath will o'er power the murky stream
Uncovering the long neck's of vanity
In their jaws hang strong bridles
Keeping them turned to their idols

God's lips burn with anger
His tongue's waits with fire
His glor'ous voice shall be heard
His arms of lightnings never tire

The trumpets on the mountain
Announce His name afar
Unto each plain and nation
Reminds us of whom we are

Scatter, oh tempests and hailstones
Come to us and quake our bones
Ye, mighty one of Israel
Awaken us to feel

Rid us of our lofty anger
Help us in love more to linger
Oh, Lord bind up the breach
And heal our wounds, far to reach

Here and Now

Here and now, I can know what my life is about.
I can be assured of my mission, my true route.
If I pray and study and do what God requires.
I will start, I will move, in tune with God's desires.
I'll seek growth; keep moving, though challenged by mistakes.
I will learn, prayerfully to discern as I do what it takes.
Though the sea boils high as it tries to engulf me,
I'll exert all of my energy, vigorously.

Here and now, I can know what I am meant to do.
I can pray and not faint. I can know what is true.
Dear Father, consecrate what I do, to Thy wise care.
May what I do perform be for my soul's welfare.
With one line at a time I will try with my might.
I'll trust Thee to help me keep my goal in clear sight.
I'll seek not for riches, But, I'll seek for Thy wisdom.
This I'll pray. Then I'll say “Look out world, Here I come.”,

Meekness

Through the virtues of patience we live out our lives
While not pursuing that which goes out of style
Thus avoiding being like the gaderine swine
Whose appetites go whole hog for the trends of time

Will we be meek and listen to our Savior?
He meekly proffered His life as our ransomer
He did as the Father taught and required
Let's square our shoulders, also, impressed with desire

Our meekness can be an initiator
As it is often a spiritual facilitator
We will do exceedingly well throughout all of our days
If we live with hope in Christ, filled with charity and faith-

Then, we'll have acquired attributes of Deity
To participate in the wined up scenes that are to be
With meekness being the subtraction of self
Reducing the multiplication of our pride's swell

Our meekness is what gospel life is about
Through our meekness God's love goes beyond doubt
This does not mean that we force loved ones to God
But, we can teach the prepared, through  the virtue of love

The scriptures tell us of all we can be
Likened to our Savior...we can say "here I am, send me"
So, in matters little or seemingly too large
Let's emulate our Savior and trust in His charge

Our meekness is vital to become Christ-like
Through our meekness other virtues come unto sight
This does not translate into character weakness
But puts ourselves, purely, in a posture of kindness

We can be meekly drenched in our destiny
Washed in love, peace, and serenity
If we're seeking to do service and giving gently
We'll see love flood the world where hearts were once empty

- Neal A Maxwell

There's a Force

The Son of the Morning was cast from God's presence.
The heavens wept o'er him and there was sadness.
He's practiced at persuading others to him.
He took with him a third of the hosts of heaven.
Now he's the bad force bent to destroy us.
He's ever expanding. He's ever devious.
He's smart from experience and not from skill.
His lies will blind men until captive to his will.
He seeks to be in control, his own purpose to fulfill.

He will try incitements and use deceitful ways.
Pretense and sophistries, he weaves in last days.
“All is well we prospereth, so all is well”.
He says as he leads man carefully down to hell.
Now he's a lion seeking whom he may devour,
Ever wanting glory, dominions, and power.
We say “get thee hence, Satan, Imitator.
We refuse to hear your entreaties any more.
We pray for the day you're gone. And your dominions by force.”

The devil cites scripture, if it suits his purpose.
The more we draw to God; he's there to thwart us.
The minute the Saints revolt, what comes from God.
He'll take a hold and have us singing his ballad.
We need to be sober and vigilant this day.
As in the Lord's work we anxiously engage.
We can and do roll back bad input on us.
Through our brother and Savior, our Lord Jesus.
Through him we hold God's priesthood.
We hold God's powers in trust.

We're given gifts from God. We can have discernment,
If we live to obey all God's commandments.
Although Satan knows to sins' our tendency,
He has no real authority, we've agency.
He has no real power, unless we permit it.
A wicked spirits' bound, by law and limit.
We can resist him more than we now realize,
If we heed the counsel of those who do preside.
And allow the Holy Ghost to be our companion and guide.

A wolf in sheep's clothing, He's a thief in the night.
He'll send plagues and break hearts. He'll try to snuff life.
Yet, he needs our bodies for all they can do.
We can render him powerless, if we've faith to.
There is no soul that's safe. That he would not destroy,
For he has legions under his employ.
They are the masters of speech, and they whisp'reth.
“There is not a hell or a devil,” they flatt'reth.
Of this they'll persist to way beyond the umptieth.

We must warn young people of his sly devices.
Before they succumb to his vain entices.
He'll seek to divert them from their future path.
He'd like to hold us within his fingerless grasp.
We have our strong bodies to command him, “retreat”.
Resist him, be righteous and then he will flee.
He'll tell us there's no hope, once we transgress,
But, we've been given our agency to progress.
We can repent of our sins 'though they may be most grievous.

We can voice a warning sound against the devil
And against his angels, who mainstream evil.
On the Saints, he will increase use of power.
As the kingdom of Heavenly Father grows stronger.
We believe that Satan's ever-expanding efforts
prove all the truthfulness of the gospel work.
We will need greater spirituality to perceive
his attempts to pacify and then deceive.
He will intrigue the naive. We can have wisdom or grief.

He'd love to destroy us. Mostly of our usefulness
in carrying the gospel into its fullness.
Yet, we have the still small voice for our stopping.
And if we don't listen, we'll fall to tempting.
This mechanism can't stay when we're weakened.
So, we need to help those who have lost this friend.
Heavenly father, please bless us, when we are weak.
And generously, please, forgive when we misdeed.
Help those in need of solace. And keep us from pride and greed.

He's Been There Before

He's Been There Before by Elder Troy Whittle
The alarm bell rings at 6:30, I stumble to my feet
I grab my companions bedding and pull off his sheets
A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise?
It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes

The morning activities follow- study, prayer and such
When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't accomplished much
"We have a super day planned," My comp. says with a grin
I lowly utter a faithless breath, "Yeah, if anyone lets us in."

With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street prepared to
Face another day of humidity and heat
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through
My champion and I are riding home not accomplishing what we thought to do

We ride up to the mailbox, hoping to receive a lot
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air Box"
We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete
The only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet

It's past 10:30 p.m. My companion is fast asleep,
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep
In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray
I need to talk to father, but I'm not sure what to say

"Oh, Father" I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away
My hands, my aching hands- worn, hurt and beat;
If our area was any smaller, we'd have knocked every street"

"Why on missions are the days so much alike?
The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike
Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes, it's very hard to see"

"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough?
People always laugh at me, and call me stupid stuff
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack
I want to give them Books of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back"

"And what about my family: They don't have much to say
I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day after day
Oh Father, Why am I here am I just wasting time?
Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind"

"My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?
"The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see
Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you"

My prayer now finished, I stand up, then jump right into bed
I need my rest for tomorrow, we have another long day ahead
Sleep start to overtake me, I seem to drift away
Then it seems a vision takes me to another time in another day

I'm standing alone on the hill. The view is very nice
A man walks to wards me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ"
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet
"Arise," He states, "Follow me to the shade. You and I need to speak"

My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete
He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me
I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through
In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you"

"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you
At times I felt not quite sure what else I could do
I know you don't like to ride a bicycle, for you a car would be sweet
Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds"

"I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something you hate
I remember when I sweat blood from ev’ry pore, oh the agony was great!
I see you don't like your companion- you'd rather have someone else-
I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth"

"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you
I remember when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back"

"Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking on doors all day
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way
It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me"
He embraced me with His arms and His light filled me with His love
With tears in my eyes I watched as He went back to the Father above

I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head
I listened and heard the alarm, then realized I was in my bed
My companion let out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

No matter what we go through, when we feel we can't take more
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ, He's been there before

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

These poems are my own thoughts and impressions as I study the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints

I encourage you to read from the Book of Mormon and the standard works, and listen to modern day prophets, also, that your mind and heart might be touched.
