Glorious Sight- Our General Assembly

 

Here we now assemble
What a marvelous sight.
With our hearts in full swell
Overwhelmed in God’s light.

In His warmth, here we bask.
United in His cause.
Strengthened for this great task.
We pledge to keep His laws.

May our futures be bright?
May we see through earth’s blight?

Here we now assemble.
What a glorious sight.
Though the earth may tremble.
We will sing with His might.

May angels join to sing?
May heaven hear our calls?
And down His Spirit bring
What’s holy to these halls?

May our hearts feel delight
As our voices unite.

Here we now assemble.
What a tremendous sight.
And with this preamble-
May we join in the fight?

As armies we must go,
In battle for lost souls.
Or, else they’ll never know
Of man’s Celestial roles.

May we give someone sight?
To desire God's light!

My husband sings in Gladys Knights Saints United Voices.  They did the same thing a couple of Christmases ago in Las Vegas.  It was wonderful!

Put a Bounce In Your Step

Put a bounce in you step.

Sing a happy tune.

Give it a lot of pep.

There Are Feeling in the Breast That Cannot Be Expressed

There are feelings in the breast
That cannot be expressed
But, with music, then perhaps...
As to the past, we lapse

A familiar melody
Hummed so very softly
Brings back to us memories
Of childhoods' life of ease

Of when Mother sang to me
When I was just past three
I can almost hear her voice
And find my eyes turn moist

The many years she's been gone
Must add up on and on
But, oh, how I love her so
Her song forever flows

In the Millennial Day

With joy I'll draw from the water,
Out of the wells of salvation.
In thanks, only good I'll utter-
Singing praise and adoration.

His excellent deeds show his care.
They will be known to all the earth.

2 Nephi 22
1 And in that day thou shalt say: O Lord,
I will praise thee; though thou wast angry
with me thine anger is turned away, and thou

strength and my song; he also has become my

In Sin I Groan

In sin, I groan
As I'm encompassed about.
Though I've afflictions and doubt,
I don't feel alone.

Humbly in prayer
As I'm prompted- there's promise,
I will not ask Him amiss.
And, my God is there.

My soul delights
In the goodness of the Lord.
As I read, pray and record,
I find new insights.

Why should I weep
In the valley of sorrow?
There's bright hope in tomorrow.
Where I'll feel at peace.

Though sad I walk
In the valley that is low.
There's a path to a plain road
Where I'll find God's rock.

Awake my soul.
And, no longer droop in sin.
What is holy flows within!

THE SECOND BOOK OF NEPHI
CHAPTER 4
Lehi counsels and blesses his posterity—
He dies and is buried—Nephi glories in
the goodness of God to him—Nephi puts his
trust in the Lord forever.
Between 588 and 570 B.C.
16 Behold, my soul delighteth in the
things of the Lord; and my heart pondereth
continually upon the things which I have
seen and heard.
17 Nevertheless, notwithstanding the great
goodness of the Lord, in showing me his
great and marvelous works, my heart exclaimeth:
wretched man that I am! Yea, my heart
sorroweth because of my flesh; my soul grieveth
because of mine iniquities.
18 I am encompassed about, because of the
temptations and the sins which do so easily
beset me.
19 And when I desire to rejoice, my heart

I know in whom I have trusted.
20 My God hath been my support; he hath

of sorrow, and my flesh waste away,
and my strength slacken, because of mine
afflictions?
27 And why should I yield to sin,
because of my flesh? Yea, why should I
give way to temptations, that the evil
one have place in my heart to destroy my
peace and afflict my soul? Why am I
angry because of mine enemy?
28 Awake, my soul! No longer droop in
sin. Rejoice, O my heart, and give place
no more for the enemy of my soul.
29 Do not aanger again because of mine
enemies. Do not slacken my strength because
of mine afflictions.
30 Rejoice, O my aheart, and cry unto the
Lord, and say: O Lord, I will praise thee
forever; yea, my soul will rejoice in thee,
my God, and the rock of my salvation.
31 O Lord, wilt thou aredeem my soul? Wilt
thou deliver me out of the hands of mine enemies?
Wilt thou make me that I may shake at the
appearance of sin?
32 May the gates of hell be shut continually
before me, because that my heart is broken and
my spirit is contrite! O Lord, wilt thou not
shut the gates of thy righteousness before me,
that I may walk in the path of the low valley,
that I may be strict in the plain road!
33 O Lord, wilt thou encircle me around in the
robe of thy righteousness! O Lord, wilt thou make
a way for mine escape before mine benemies! Wilt
thou make my path straight before me! Wilt thou
not place a stumbling block in my way—but that
thou wouldst clear my way before me, and hedge not
up my way, but the ways of mine enemy.
34 O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust
in thee forever. I will not put my trust in the arm of
flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his
trust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that
putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm.
35 Yea, I know that God will give liberally to
him that asketh. Yea, my God will give me, if I bask
not amiss; therefore I will lift up my voice unto thee;
yea, I will cry unto thee, my God, the rock of my
righteousness. Behold, my voice shall forever ascend
up unto thee, my rock and mine everlasting God. Amen.

Hymns Connect Us

The beats in all music spring new life to our lives.

Where emotions thrive.

Hymns turn off all the tunes that take.

The Hymns will quiet appetites that need to break.

The hymns connect us to Holy Scriptures

Beware where you’re lead.

The Hymns can nourish us with Light  for which we hunger.

Singing favorites helps when we're tried.

They invite the Spirit to be our guide.

Expressions of the Spirit

The words soft spoken with a gentle gaze.
A tender smile, hands outwards in praise.
Of anything sweeter what would it be?
For, expressions of the spirit fulfill me.

As I search the scriptures, liken them to me.
Ancient Prophets' words speak softly.
If I had been there what would I see?
Great expressions of the spirit surrounding.

When I bear my testimony on fast day.
I’ll speak from my heart, This I do pray.
I’ll witness of the Son’s divinity.
I’ve expressions of the spirit inside me.

My eyes wet from new feelings I’ve found.
I testify Gods’ love is all around.
Do angels make record? Am I worthy?
The expressions of the spirit burn in me.

Inside each of us lies a sweet angels’ song.,
We express our thanks that we belong.
We will pray as we sing. Let voices ring.
With expressions of the spirit, the heart sings.

That Spirit Which Leaded To Do Good

I am surrounded by worldliness.
What is popular is abjectness.
How can I avoid what is not good?
How can I become all that I should?
When all I hear is profane, how do I stay sane?
The Holy Ghost, my companion, helps me to maintain.
May I ever be mindful of this precious gift,
As there's music to my ear that gives me a lift.
Through the blessed hymns I feel the love of Jesus.
The comforter helps me to be more courageous.
I can be bold just like Joseph Smith.
And call out for them to cease forthwith.

I am surrounded by worldiness.
What is popular is abjectness.
How can I avoid what is not good?
How can I become all that I should?
When all I see is obscene, how do I not look?
The Holy Ghost, my companion, helps me through a book.
May I ever be mindful of this precious gift,
Full of hope and charity which gives me a lift.
Through the blessed words I feel the love of Jesus.
The comforter helps me to be more courageous.
I can be bold like another Joseph.
When someone tried to tempt him- he just fled.

These - Our Little Ones

Parents behold each child

A Glorious Season

In each of us lies a piece of childhood.
Where bliss and wonder is best understood.
We revel with much fun at Christmas time.
Amongst tinseled presents some yours, some mine.

But there is something else, something better.
As we sit with our families together.
And we read the fascinating story.
Of our Lord's birth, ministry and glory.

When God's great love for us has been measured,
His priceless gift stands alone most treasured.
To us was given the Mighty Prince of Peace.
And may our love for Him only increase.

And so at this Christmas season, we sing.
With praise and gratitude, with hearts softening.
Let us be more generous to spread His love.
With Peace and wonder, to ponder what's above.

There’s Joy on the Mountains

There’s joy on the mountains.

He Lives

Risen reality,
Our Savior does yet live.
He is divinity.
To our day, He did give

For Times of Trouble

Make each day count
And avoid self doubt
Evil is there
When e'er there’s despair

It will work, it will grow, it will spread,
It will fill our lives with more dread
As a germ it is fed. It is bred

Wake up late, climbing through the sand
We’re open for sin, we just can’t win
One poor thought, with no strength we’re caught

It can erode
Charity, faith and hope
We turn inward-
And then look downward

We’ll feel shame and pity, woe is me
It will fill our lives with more need
With increase- it will be a disease

And again we will surely be
It is troublesome and burdensome-
And it builds, as it yields blind fields

A panic bold-
Soon fear takes a hold
An evil twin
Grips and sweats within

No more breath, no more depth, feels like death
It will fill our lives till we’re deaf
Fear and self doubt have met and they fret

Panic and despair lead us nowhere
The times of trouble now are double
Where one stops one begins and hops

It will attract
It seeks to distract
With misery-
You don’t think clearly

Don’t give up, don’t give in, you can change
All thought patterns will rearrange
Free of filth, free of mange, there’s more range

We must confess- our sins address
Make restitution, make ablution
And we feel cleansing that’s real

Preparation
Acts as prevention
From self defeat-
The three cannot meet

We will work, we will grow, we will spread
And, yes we’ll use our head, to where led
We’re ahead; it’s our bread, now we’re fed

Preparation is our cure for this
Being more aware coupled with prayer
The prepared are not impaired

Carry the calm-
With focus the balm
Composed to fight
Attack goals with might

We will work, watch the time, thoughts are seen-
And we’ll burst at the seam
When we’re keen, how we dream and we beam!

Having a vision, for our mission
And, we’ll work out a plan- one that we can
With each step we will holler, yep!

Off to the school
With the golden rule
We’re on our own-
From home we’ve flown

Off we go, it’s a test, on our breast
We will wear the BYU crest
To do our best, and with zest we’ll not rest

In each class we’ll pray. Always we’ll say-
We’re so thankful with hearts so full,
For this chance- for minds to enhance

the caissons go rolling along
And may BYU remain strong!
