The Passage of Time

The passage of time dims our old memories
And none too soon fades our sorrows and worries.
The pioneer trail where tears fell like rain
Now is a roller coaster of grief and pain.

While crimes creep higher to spiral upward
Decency careens society downward
And who can escape as the ride moves faster?
This thrill of the moment speeds to disaster!

Can we muster the courage for today?
As modern pioneers can we show others the way?
The path has been laid to eternity
May we blaze its trail bright with morality!

"Come follow me,"
The Master calls to each
Keep remembering
My spirit's within reach

[Verse 1] The passage of time dims our old memories And none too soon fades our sorrows and worries The pioneer trail where tears fell like rain Now is a roller coaster of grief and pain [Verse 2] While crimes creep higher to spiral upward Decency careens society downward And who can escape as the ride moves faster? This thrill of the moment speeds to disaster [Chorus] Can we muster the courage for today? As modern pioneers, can we show others the way? The path has been laid to eternity May we blaze its trail bright with morality [Bridge] Come follow me, the Master calls to each Keep remembering, my spirit's within reach When every turn unsettles what we know Hold to the good, and let compassion grow [Final Chorus] Can we muster the courage for today? As modern pioneers, can we show others the way? The path has been laid to eternity May we blaze its trail bright with morality [Outro] Keep remembering My spirit's within reach Keep remembering And walk the path we teach

Faith in Jesus Christ

The genesis of a human body
Begins with the union of just two cells
Twenty- three chromosomes from each unite
What this child will look like, this cell foretells.

Twenty- two days later, heart beats are heard.
In four more days blood's in circulation.
As cells multiply and divide away,
Into an amazing creation.

From electricity, the heart works hard.
Delicate valves open and close in pace.
Soon form the eyes to see and ears to hear,
As the nerves and muscles grow in their place.

The body is made with back-up systems
Tools for resistance are generated.
The bones can mend, skin can heal, and leaks can seal.
As fixed temperatures are regulated.

Unto every kingdom is given a law.
And every law has bounds and conditions.
This scientists can measure and define,
Laws apply to all of God's creations.

The phase of the moon, the stars in the sky-
Their courses are fixed to heaven and earth.
Such order bears witness of majesty.
In seven days, God formed law and all birth.

The scriptures declare of our beginning.
Each man's been organized in God's image.
The male and female, created He them,
For us laws were formed, to the very edge.

Dynamic faith in our Lord Jesus Christ
Lends to our minds a new way of thinking.
Works form a conversion and change of heart,
Dawned from His Living wells we're drinking.

We're made alive in Christ, because of faith
And of Him we're spiritually begotten.
There's strength to press forward with steadfastness,
Feeling the love of God unto all men.

With the Book of Mormon and the Bible,
We've scriptures in each hand and we promise.
With full purpose of heart, we preach of Christ.
Showing through works and faith we are His.

I testify that Jesus is the Christ,
The Son of the Living Father
Our Savior, Lord and Advocate.
Exemplar and King, whom we honor.

Emunah- Stand Firm

You can lean your whole weight

Upon the Lord, our God

Stand firm and steadfast, emunah

For God helps to bear all you've got

In truth, you need not buckle

Under your heavy load

He knows your times of trouble

Such is the strength of God

Faith is not just abstract

It is more than a thought

Or a feelings to enact

It's what keeps you standing, taught

A prayer of faith is said

And all around you hear "amen"

In support of what comes ahead

Just like Aaron and Hur back then

During the battle with Amalek

Moses held out the staff of God

And his arms were upheld

Steady until the enemy was gone

The righteous live by emunah

The righteous live by emunah

They find strength to live upon

The righteous live by emunah

Verse 1] You can lean your whole weight Upon the Lord, our God Stand firm and steadfast, emunah For God helps to bear all you've got In truth, you need not buckle Under your heavy load He knows your times of trouble Such is the strength of God [Pre-Chorus] Faith is not just abstract It is more than a thought Or of feelings to enact It's what keeps you standing, taught A prayer of faith is said And all around you hear amen In support of what comes ahead Just like Aaron and Hur back then [Chorus] The righteous live by emunah The righteous live by emunah They find strength to live upon The righteous live by emunah The righteous live by emunah The righteous live by emunah Hold my arms when I grow weak The righteous live by emunah [Verse 2] During the battle with Amalek Moses held out the staff of God And his arms were upheld Steady until the enemy was gone When my hands are tired and shaking You lift what I can't hold When my heart is worn and breaking You steady my soul [Pre-Chorus] Faith is not just abstract It is more than a thought Or of feelings to enact It's what keeps you standing, taught A prayer of faith is said And all around you hear amen In support of what comes ahead Just like Aaron and Hur back then [Chorus] The righteous live by emunah The righteous live by emunah They find strength to live upon The righteous live by emunah The righteous live by emunah The righteous live by emunah Hold my arms when I grow weak The righteous live by emunah [Bridge] When the night feels long And my strength runs dry You remain my song You lift me high Hands still raised in trust Heart still set on You What You start in us You carry through [Final Chorus] The righteous live by emunah The righteous live by emunah They find strength to live upon The righteous live by emunah The righteous live by emunah The righteous live by emunah Hold my arms when I grow weak The righteous live by emunah

Habakkuk 2:4, "the righteous will live by his emunah" - quoted three times in the New Testament - and the honest, centuries-old ambiguity over whether it means "faith" or "faithfulness" - What it means when the Bible calls GOD Himself emunah - faithful, reliable, load-bearing, incapable of buckling

steadfast and immovable

Hebrews 11:1 — “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”

Faith is a relationship of confidence in God’s character, His promises, and His faithfulness.

Living Right

This world is in trouble
It's values have declined
When temptations double
Some do all they feel inclined

We have clear instruction
A pattern for success
When we reach a junction
We can pray when in distress

If we ask worthily
We're safe from destruction
When we react humbly
He will give us conviction

When e'er we trust in God
There's help in our dealings
Where our feet need to trod
He'll give us quiet promptings

Sometimes answers we need
Come a piece at a time
Without character we'd
Not benefit all mankind

Expanded character
Enhances our faith
This valuable factor
Helps us not deviate

How do we keep resolve
When decisions abound?
Temptations will dissolve
When to the scriptures we're found

Our moral character
Weaves one thread at a time
God's yardstick can measure
As upwards now man must climb

Increase Your Faith

Questions come that threaten
Your foundation of faith
Remember all you've been given
Ask God to increase your strength

Study, prayer and service
This is the path to seek for truth
Conversion with purpose
Feeling God's love is your proof

Spirit to spirit
From my heart to yours
His love does confirm
As it warmly outpours

Someone comes at you
Citing scriptures on end
Leaks in our history
Pinning doubts on events

They preach their slogans
Intellectually
The "know its" of man's notions
Not spiritually

Their quest's rational
Without the spirit and prayer
They're not inspirational
Applying not service and care

They have prepared a meal
To lure you away
But the Spirit does heal
So increase your faith

Defend light and truth, but with faith
Give up the need to be right
With those grown distant in debate
Seek God's word, His love, His light

Always remember
Whose job it is to convince
Always the spirit
To those with open minds, hence

Verse 1] Questions come that threaten Your foundation of faith Remember all you've been given Ask God to increase your strength Study, prayer and service This is the path to seek for truth Conversion with purpose Feeling God's love is your proof [Pre-Chorus] Spirit to spirit From my heart to yours His love does confirm As it warmly outpours [Chorus] Increase your faith Increase your faith Defend light and truth Give up the need to be right Increase your faith Increase your faith Seek God's word, His love, His light (Your faith) (Your faith) [Verse 2] Someone comes at you Citing scriptures on end Leaks in our history Pinning doubts on events They preach their slogans Intellectually The know its of man's notions Not spiritually [Pre-Chorus] Their quest's rational Without the spirit and prayer They're not inspirational Applying not service and care [Chorus] Increase your faith Increase your faith Defend light and truth Give up the need to be right Increase your faith Increase your faith Seek God's word, His love, His light (Your faith) (Your faith) [Bridge] They have prepared a meal To lure you away But the Spirit does heal So increase your faith Always remember Whose job it is to convince Always the spirit To those with open minds, hence [Final Chorus] Increase your faith Increase your faith Defend light and truth Give up the need to be right Increase your faith Increase your faith Seek God's word, His love, His light With those grown distant in debate (Increase your faith) (Your faith)

slogan meaning/ origin:   It is made up of the Scottish Gaelic word sluagh, meaning "army," and ghairm, meaning "call, cry."

It is not our job/work to debate, try to convince or convert anyone-
that is the work of the Holy Spirit.
Our work is to invite and show/share the reason for our faith & beliefs and where & how to find more of what we believe to see the truth for themselves -
ComeUntoChrist.org
And then may we suggest for them to ask God, in sincere prayer (with an open mind and willing/ready to act on His answers) ---with reading Bible scriptures and including the BofM.
-- We may use some time to share/give evidence for our belief/faith *if* people are open minded and respectful
(not calling names or trampling pearls etc)
---otherwise it is
best not to waste our time.
God bless us all with whatever we need most.

Carved in the Soul

You can't google or text message faith
As it must be carved into the soul
That when the storm blows we'll not grow faint
But, have strength to accomplish our goals

It is through Faith's process that faithfulness takes root
Deep into our hearts for happiness, Light and peace
Through study and obedience we make more room
For blessings and testimonies to increase

Life teaches us a lot
Someone is hurt
Another knows loss
Someone is hungry
Another is lost
Mortality's cost

But we are not alone
Abandoned to the wind
the Savior did atone
He is our loving friend

He does not have set hours
Or times He is away
Blessings from Him shower
Any time or day

Why look any further
We've a God with a heart
And our loving Savior
They both are never far

[Verse 1] You can't google up faith You can't text it in gently It gets carved in your soul deeply When the storm starts to rage We won't fold, we won't faint, we will stay faithful in the rain [Pre-Chorus] When the thunder shakes the day
God is our shelter through the storm
He offers love, peace and comfort
In our hearts to stay
[Chorus] Faith is the fire we claim When every promise feels empty
Pray on Pray and hold tight to the plan We find strength to rise up again A firm foundation to stand Our Father has a plan We find strength to rise up again A firm foundation to stand [Verse 2] It is through Faith's process Faithfulness starts to gently Dig down deep in our hearts for plenty Happiness, Light, and peace Through our study and hope we can see We can feel
[Pre-Chorus] When the thunder shakes the day
God is our shelter through the storm
He offers love, peace and comfort
In our hearts to stay
[Chorus] Faith is the fire we claim When every promise feels empty
Pray on Pray and hold tight to the plan We find strength to rise up again A firm foundation to stand Our Father has a plan We find strength to rise up again A firm foundation to stand
[Bridge] Life will teach us, line by line Someone broken, someone blind Hungry hearts and heavy loss All the weight of mortal cost But we feel a gentle hand Guiding us to higher plans [Final Chorus]
Faith is the fire we claim When every promise feels empty
Pray on Pray and hold tight to the plan We find strength to rise up again A firm foundation to stand Our Father has a plan We find strength to rise up again A firm foundation to stand

Light on the Heart

Christ does not convince the mind

He converts the heart

The treasures of the gospel light

And this is just the start

Connecting truths line upon line

And some evidence confirms

Gathering truth and light

Oh, how the bosom burns

The walls came down in Jericho

By obedience and faith

all to witness the power of God

And that patience is a strength

Two brothers, Layman and Lemuel

Saw an angel face to face

But the were disobedient

They'd not faith to embrace

Seeing isn't believing

Some evidence is clear

Winds come, deceiving

And those convinced disappear

God in His mercy and His grace

Allows to find our way

The gospel light to embrace

Comes as we seek and pray

Willing to submit to all things

Ever and always it takes faith

Then comes the brightest blessings

[Verse 1] Christ does not convince the mind He converts the heart The treasures of the gospel light And this is just the start Connecting truths line upon line And some evidence confirms Gathering truth and light Oh, how the bosom burns [Pre-Chorus] God in His mercy and His grace Allows us to find our way The gospel light to embrace Comes as we seek and pray [Chorus] Light on the heart Light on the heart Truth burns bright in me Ever and always it takes faith Then comes the brightest blessings [Verse 2] The walls came down in Jericho By obedience and faith All to witness the power of God And that patience is a strength Two brothers, Layman and Lemuel Saw an angel face to face But they were disobedient They'd not faith to embrace [Pre-Chorus] Seeing isn't believing Some evidence is clear Winds come, deceiving And those convinced disappear [Chorus] Light on the heart Light on the heart Truth burns bright in me Ever and always it takes faith Then comes the brightest blessings [Bridge] Willing to submit to all things Ever and always it takes faith When the road looks dim and far I still will seek and pray [Final Chorus] Light on the heart Light on the heart Truth burns bright in me Ever and always it takes faith Then comes the brightest blessings

@hankrsmith

I think someone can become more dependent on evidence for the Book of Mormon and then, as a result, spend less time in the Book of Mormon. But the Lord doesn’t want us convinced. He asks us to choose to be converted. Evidence convinces. The text converts.

Evidence doesn’t convert. The text does. Look at Laman and Lemuel. They saw a literal angel sent by God. They never doubted what they saw. They simply refused to obey. Their hearts weren’t turned toward God, so seeing wasn’t believing. We are accountable for the knowledge we receive. That’s why God, in His mercy, lets us walk by faith instead of perfect knowledge. The more we know, the more we’re responsible for. Truth comes line upon line as we keep the commandments. The precepts in the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, draw us near to God. All the external evidence in the world won’t turn us into faithful disciples. Just look at the Bible: mountains of evidence, yet not everyone becomes a Christian. Seeing isn’t believing. That’s why the scriptures say, “He that hath eyes to see, let him see; and he that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” Spiritual blindness and deafness are real, even when the evidence is staring us in the face.

Spiritual conversion is more powerful than physical evidence. Reminds me of the battle of Jericho. The Israelites destroyed the walls using the power of God and not the power of the flesh.

High Peak Banner

Verse 1] After hiking as far as they could The apostles and the prophet stood High above the valley Their new home With God’s blessings No longer to roam To a walking stick They tied a cloth On a high peak They waved it aloft As an ensign to all From the storm A raised standard Of works to perform [Pre-Chorus] Here was the place That the Savior chose The blossoming desert A unique rose Each pioneer Had survived circumstance Now the cause of Zion Could advance [Chorus] Raise the banner high Raise it high The Lord is our refuge Our defense Light the path ahead Light the path For our fellow man For our inheritance Raise the banner high Raise it high If we do our best We will stand [Verse 2] The gospel message Is now ours to preach To our neighbors Our example can reach Like the pioneers Who had much taken We, through our trials Gain faith unshaken If we are doing The best that we can We can light a path For our fellow man As a candle placed Upon a high peak Our flame can burn bright For all who may seek [Bridge] We must not attack Or turn flighty But in faith Pray to our Almighty Hold us steady When the wild winds blow Teach our hands Where to build and go [Chorus] Raise the banner high Raise it high The Lord is our refuge Our defense Light the path ahead Light the path For our fellow man For our inheritance Raise the banner high Raise it high If we do our best We will stand

Live By Faith

All over the world, there are good Latter- Day Saints.
As truths are unfurled, faith abounds unrestrained.
Though there are drought conditions we find living waters.
That our homes can be safe midst precarious matters.

The gospel teaches us how to increase our faith.
If we but listen, the Prophet shows us the way.
When we've the Spirit, we serve and lengthen our stride.
From temple's beacon, we're bright, no longer to hide.

When we feel weighed down, we can increase faith and prayer.
Finding emphasized love, to reflect and feel aware.
When we reach hard crossroads, we'll follow Jesus and not fear.
For He shares our burdens and makes them easier to bear.

Live by faith
Not by fear
Lift your face
God is near

Glorious Sight- Our General Assembly

Here we now assemble
What a marvelous sight.
With our hearts in full swell
Overwhelmed in God’s light.

In His warmth, here we bask.
United in His cause.
Strengthened for this great task.
We pledge to keep His laws.

May our futures be bright?
May we see through earth’s blight?

Here we now assemble.
What a glorious sight.
Though the earth may tremble.
We will sing with His might.

May angels join to sing?
May heaven hear our calls?
And down His Spirit bring
What’s holy to these halls?

May our hearts feel delight
As our voices unite
.

Here we now assemble.
What a tremendous sight.
And with this preamble-
May we join in the fight?

As armies we must go,
In battle for lost souls.
Or, else they’ll never know
Of man’s Celestial roles.

May we give someone sight?
To desire God's light!

This is the Moment

A man folds his arms and bows his head while praying outside.
Believe, that this is the moment
God will take you as you are,
And work with you through the atonement.
All you need is a willing heart!
"God will take you as you are at this very moment and begin to work with you. All you need is a willing heart, a desire to believe, and trust in the Lord."

He's Been There Before

He's Been There Before by Elder Troy Whittle
The alarm bell rings at 6:30, I stumble to my feet
I grab my companions bedding and pull off his sheets
A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise?
It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes

The morning activities follow- study, prayer and such
When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't accomplished much
"We have a super day planned," My comp. says with a grin
I lowly utter a faithless breath, "Yeah, if anyone lets us in."

With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street prepared to
Face another day of humidity and heat
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through
My champion and I are riding home not accomplishing what we thought to do

We ride up to the mailbox, hoping to receive a lot
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air Box"
We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete
The only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet

It's past 10:30 p.m. My companion is fast asleep,
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep
In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray
I need to talk to father, but I'm not sure what to say

"Oh, Father" I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away
My hands, my aching hands- worn, hurt and beat;
If our area was any smaller, we'd have knocked every street"

"Why on missions are the days so much alike?
The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike
Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes, it's very hard to see"

"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough?
People always laugh at me, and call me stupid stuff
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack
I want to give them Books of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back"

"And what about my family: They don't have much to say
I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day after day
Oh Father, Why am I here am I just wasting time?
Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind"

"My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?
"The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see
Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you"

My prayer now finished, I stand up, then jump right into bed
I need my rest for tomorrow, we have another long day ahead
Sleep start to overtake me, I seem to drift away
Then it seems a vision takes me to another time in another day

I'm standing alone on the hill. The view is very nice
A man walks to wards me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ"
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet
"Arise," He states, "Follow me to the shade. You and I need to speak"

My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete
He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me
I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through
In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you"

"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you
At times I felt not quite sure what else I could do
I know you don't like to ride a bicycle, for you a car would be sweet
Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds"

"I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something you hate
I remember when I sweat blood from ev’ry pore, oh the agony was great!
I see you don't like your companion- you'd rather have someone else-
I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth"

"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you
I remember when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back"

"Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking on doors all day
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way
It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me"
He embraced me with His arms and His light filled me with His love
With tears in my eyes I watched as He went back to the Father above

I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head
I listened and heard the alarm, then realized I was in my bed
My companion let out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

No matter what we go through, when we feel we can't take more
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ, He's been there before

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

These poems are my own thoughts and impressions as I study the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints

I encourage you to read from the Book of Mormon and the standard works, and listen to modern day prophets, also, that your mind and heart might be touched.
