To Know Love Born of God

To know love
Is to learn of
Our Father above

To love all
Is mankind's call
But, we ever, ever fall

Our sins bud
And stain love
Making cold our blood

Thus, God's Son
Perfectly won
For us the undone

The day schemed
Betrayal teamed
Yet, still He redeemed!

Thus, He taught
How pure Love's sought
As, our sins, He has bought

Love is born
In perfect form
When the heart is torn

For it swells
And more love dwells
As darkness dispels

We hold fast
To love surpassed
Where we've meekness vast

For unseen
We've equal esteem
Each of but one team

We're combined
When we're of one mind
And love is intertwined

1 Jn. 4: 7-12, 16-21
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
• • •
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
We love him, because he first loved us.
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

Phillipians 2:1-8
If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of
love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being
of one accord, of one mind.
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness
of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the
things of others.
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who,being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a
servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

When In Truth I was Speaking- Walking on Eggshells- Raising a troubled teenager?

When in truth I was speaking
You supposed I must be mad
For otherwise you'd be angry
As that means you have been bad

When you've a consequence
We tiptoe around like a birds
I know to not speak thence
For as eggshells are our words

At a party you lost your phone
Should I be sorry? Your consumption abused
The choice was soley yours to own
But, if I say a word, then I'm the one accused

Why must I be so careful?
When it's you who broke the rules?
Well, I'm afraid I've been a fool
In the chosen parent school

With a friend, you lost your purse
Now, who is looking after you?
What more is there to rehearse
As my cautions are futile too

For you, I've hope and love- not pity
I'd show you a path that's straight
For I believe in your ability
Though it's not been shown as of late

May this truth cut just so deep
That with your heart you'll listen
And desire to covenant keep
That for joy this time, eyes will glisten

Verse 1]
when in truth i was speaking you supposed i must be mad
for otherwise you d be angry
as that means you have been bad
when you ve a consequence we tiptoe around like a birds
i know to not speak thence
for as eggshells are our words

[Chorus]
eggshells are our words
eggshells are our words
why must i be so careful?
when it s you who broke the rules?

[Verse 2]
at a party you lost your phone should i be sorry?
your consumption abused the choice was Indie Pop, Dream Pop, Ambient
yours to own
but if i say a word then i m the one accused
why must i be so careful?
when it s you who broke the rules?

[Chorus]
eggshells are our words
eggshells are our words
why must i be so careful?
when it s you who broke the rules?

[Verse 3]
well i m afraid i ve been a fool in the chosen parent school
with a friend you lost your purse now who is looking after you?
what more is there to rehearse as my cautions are futile too
for you i ve hope and love not pity
i d show you a path that s straight

[Bridge]
for i believe in your ability though it s not been shown as of late
may this truth cut just so deep that with your heart you ll listen
and desire to covenant keep
that for joy this time eyes will glisten

[Final Chorus]
eggshells are our words
eggshells are our words
why must i be so careful?
when it s you who broke the rules?

A War Survivor

A war survivor
Battered and torn
Her best endeavor
Tossed away worn

It was her marriage
Verses Satan
Fought to the edge
Till she caved in

A once loving husband
Abandoned ship
Something he'd not withstand
Caused him to flip

What of the sealing
And the children?
Can there be healing?
How will it end?

With faith and some time
She will not descend
She will conquer the climb
As love steps in

She with a new life
That is not bitter
Again she is called wife
For this role fits her

From what was trampled
Two homes now blend
From their example
The children mend

And to their surprise
Her ex changed too
To repent and rise
And become new

As foundations build
With blessings sent
Who now will be sealed
For their ascent ?

With homes as Swiss cheese
Who has what name?
Are there remedies?
And who is to blame?

This war that we're in
Has casualties
Like walls of Berlin
An end one sees

Thanks to our Savior
We have full hope
We fall from grandeur
He sends a rope

And of that question...
Who's sealed to who?
The next life's session...
For what to do

That survivor is me
How I have been blessed
I am like too many
This life is a test...

I wrote this on my journey
At the start of the day
While unbeknownst to me
That night the letter came my way

My ex was sealed to his wife and started a beautiful family. Still, the Lord provided a tender mercy for me.  I was crying and writing and driving to work writing this and came home to the letter.

Swiss cheese is a term from Neal A. Maxwell who was a great man of deed and words.

Preservation

while most slept a battle to save lives went on

Thoughts of family
And your future goals,
As life's founding,
Fills us when we've holes.

“Another man and I packed his wound to stop the bleeding and we kept him conscious by asking him about his family and what he was going to do in the future. I hope we kept him alive.” https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/1269999/florida-mass-shooting-biggest-massacre-american-history-fifty-dead-killer-omar-mateen/

I think it is stories like this that help us to get through tragedies.  Remember to point a person to hope in the future and remember loved ones.  Of course, the greatest hope we have is our Savior.  Of course, the greatest love comes from God.  Of course, the greatest need is to exercise our gift of choice, our conscience, and to heed the still small voice...

I was also deeply touched to see the scarred policeman's helmet that saved his life.  It's hard to believe just a little while ago people were down on police.  Look at the tremendous courage they have within them.

Love

Love can go on through eternity
That is how the family is meant to be
The husband and the wife and the children they create
On to a posterity, love blooms ever great!

I am treasuring President Packer's talk every day until Conference.

Why Marriage and Family Matter—Everywhere in the World ...

Family is the center of life and is the key to eternal happiness. ... me to see how marriage and family-centered priorities cut across and superseded any political,  ...

Love Me

Plain White Tees opened a concert. I love this song.
It is so sweet.

Love me for who I am,
Who I can and want to be
There's nothing better than
Having you believe in me

Heavenly Father wants us to have confidence in potential.

Love Is In

Love is in a hug, a word, a glance
Where the heart strings tug then skip and dance

The Memories of their Courtship

The memories of their courtship
Live on in the hearts of their children
The joining of two spirits in worship
Through blessings from heaven given

I hope there are some children out there who think their parents are living the best love story they ever heard! Anyone out there meet at church?

Our All

"The Savior demonstrated genuine love of God by living the perfect life, by honoring the sacred mission that was His. Never was He haughty. Never was He puffed up with pride. Never was He disloyal. Ever was He humble. Ever was He sincere. Ever was He obedient."
—Thomas S. Monson, "Obedience Brings Blessings"
Topics: Jesus ChristLoveProphetic Messages

Never was He haughty
Or puffed up with pride
He with power aplenty
Let the Father guide

Let us honor what we hold
As a sacred call
Let us help the work unfold
And give to God our all

Love is a Fragile Thing

Love is a fragile thing
Tender to the touch
Timid at first... budding
Gentle feelings blush

"How Do I Love Thee?" - Jeffrey R. Holland
speeches.byu.edu/Feb 15, 2000 – " .... Love is a fragile thing, and some elements in life can try to break it. Much damage can be done if we are not in tender hands, caring hands. ..."

"Marriage relationships can be enriched by better communication. One important way is to pray together. This will resolve many of the differences, if there are any, between the couple before sleep comes. I do not mean to overemphasize differences, but they are real, and make things interesting. Our differences are the little pinches of salt which can make the marriage seem sweeter. We communicate in a thousand ways, such as a smile, a brush of the hair, a gentle touch, and remembering each day to say 'I love you' and the husband to say 'You're beautiful.' Some other important words to say, when appropriate, are 'I'm sorry.' Listening is excellent communication."
--President James E. Faust, "The Enriching of Marriage," Ensign, Nov. 1977, 9

Sharpen This Pencil and Write I Love You

Sharpen this pencil
And write- I love you
Point to yourself
And know it is true

With this sweet thought
Write about your life
Of memories soft
And all that is right

Then with the pencil
Broken and used up
Reread this ever still
And think of this as a warm hug

I Believe Love Conquers All

I believe love conquers all
For I have faith in Christ
He's redeemed us from the fall
And paid salvation's price

I know He would to preserve us
And keep our families safe
That if we'd come to Him and trust
Our marriages, He would save

If we'd cultivate a desire to know God
And ponder the things of heaven
We'd have a softened heart to heed the call
Of our Savior who would we come to Him

The companionship of the Spirit
Makes efforts become worthwhile
That of our light we share it
As feelings from thoughts compile

Oftimes We Wonder

Ofttimes we wonder
Why tears come and we cry
Perhaps feelings held under
Brim up, o'er, and out through our eyes

Know this dampness I feel
Comes because of you
My love for you ...so real
Now drips as though mists of dew

He's Been There Before

He's Been There Before by Elder Troy Whittle
The alarm bell rings at 6:30, I stumble to my feet
I grab my companions bedding and pull off his sheets
A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise?
It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes

The morning activities follow- study, prayer and such
When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't accomplished much
"We have a super day planned," My comp. says with a grin
I lowly utter a faithless breath, "Yeah, if anyone lets us in."

With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street prepared to
Face another day of humidity and heat
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through
My champion and I are riding home not accomplishing what we thought to do

We ride up to the mailbox, hoping to receive a lot
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air Box"
We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete
The only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet

It's past 10:30 p.m. My companion is fast asleep,
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep
In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray
I need to talk to father, but I'm not sure what to say

"Oh, Father" I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away
My hands, my aching hands- worn, hurt and beat;
If our area was any smaller, we'd have knocked every street"

"Why on missions are the days so much alike?
The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike
Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes, it's very hard to see"

"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough?
People always laugh at me, and call me stupid stuff
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack
I want to give them Books of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back"

"And what about my family: They don't have much to say
I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day after day
Oh Father, Why am I here am I just wasting time?
Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind"

"My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?
"The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see
Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you"

My prayer now finished, I stand up, then jump right into bed
I need my rest for tomorrow, we have another long day ahead
Sleep start to overtake me, I seem to drift away
Then it seems a vision takes me to another time in another day

I'm standing alone on the hill. The view is very nice
A man walks to wards me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ"
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet
"Arise," He states, "Follow me to the shade. You and I need to speak"

My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete
He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me
I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through
In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you"

"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you
At times I felt not quite sure what else I could do
I know you don't like to ride a bicycle, for you a car would be sweet
Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds"

"I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something you hate
I remember when I sweat blood from ev’ry pore, oh the agony was great!
I see you don't like your companion- you'd rather have someone else-
I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth"

"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you
I remember when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back"

"Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking on doors all day
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way
It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me"
He embraced me with His arms and His light filled me with His love
With tears in my eyes I watched as He went back to the Father above

I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head
I listened and heard the alarm, then realized I was in my bed
My companion let out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

No matter what we go through, when we feel we can't take more
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ, He's been there before

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

These poems are my own thoughts and impressions as I study the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints

I encourage you to read from the Book of Mormon and the standard works, and listen to modern day prophets, also, that your mind and heart might be touched.
