World Wide Missionary Broadcast 2013

Serve alongside
The missionaries.
 Let His light guide
His words we carry.

[Verse 1] Serve alongside the missionaries. Let His light guide His words we carry. May we be a light, Even a beacon. Before others, bright. Like Christ to become. The work of our Father Excludes naught a one. Look after each other, Enthused get things done. [Pre-Chorus] Have faith the drought will end, And souls will come your way. Pray the floodgates open More and more each day. Plan for each rescue, Bring them safely in. There is much to do To wash souls, begin. [Chorus] Have faith, have faith The heavens will open Have faith, have faith A miracle comes All is well All is well Have faith, brothers and sisters All is well [Verse 2] Love everyone, Not just the favored few. We have work to get done. Those we reach will help too. God won't let us fail When we wait upon Him. Have faith. All is well. The heavens will open. Our baptisms were low, We looked where we could be strong. Our numbers to grow Through reactivation's song. [Pre-Chorus] Where once we had been weak, Light touched those around. Who brings more in who seek To know what they have found? The good news comes alive Through an individual's story. Conversions unto Christ Are for God's work and glory. [Chorus] Have faith, have faith The heavens will open Have faith, have faith A miracle comes All is well All is well Have faith, brothers and sisters All is well [Bridge] God's hour is upon us To counsel all anew. To widely seek, thus What He would have us do. An invitation, humbly born Of our love for Christ and others. Will never offend or scorn. Have faith, brothers and sisters. [Final Chorus] Have faith, have faith The heavens will open Have faith, have faith A miracle comes All is well All is well Have faith, brothers and sisters All is well

The ward I visited had a return missionary from Japan speak. He left for Japan right after the tsunami, so it was a great kickoff for the broadcast.  Afterwards, I wrote a record number of poems in a little over an hour. I posted them on my phone while sitting alone, out in nature.  I feel so blessed.

Looking for a Missionary Poem

Family, and its education,
Is the place where we are known
Structurally as a foundation
It goes with us, where ever we are flown

From its loving supportive face
A missionary plants his feet
To a new found family in place
And the experience is sweet

For they too have sent someone
And there is a void... a longing to know
What it's like...through this service done..
All the many ways you learn, teach, and grow

Oh the joy to serve the Lord
To represent Him and share His gospel
To know His support is poured
Through and for families, made possible

The longing for home
It is always there
For of love and support shown
It is grand to share

Our Father in Heaven knows this
Is what we need the most to learn
That through loving family, we notice
For our eternal home we yearn

[Verse 1] Family, and its education, Is the place where we are known Structurally as a foundation It goes with us, where ever we are flown From its loving supportive face A missionary plants his feet To a new found family in place And the experience is sweet [Pre-Chorus] For they too have sent someone And there is a void A longing to know What it's like through this service done All the many ways you learn Teach, and grow [Chorus] Oh the joy to serve the Lord To represent Him and share His gospel Oh the joy to serve the Lord Through and for families, made possible Oh the joy to serve the Lord His support is poured, His love is faithful Oh the joy to serve the Lord Through and for families, made possible [Verse 2] The longing for home It is always there Of love and support shown The heart wants to share Our Father in Heaven knows this Is what we need the most to learn That through loving family, we notice For our eternal home, we yearn [Pre-Chorus] For they too have sent someone And there is a void A longing to know What it's like through this service done All the many ways you learn Teach, and grow [Chorus] Oh the joy to serve the Lord To represent Him and share His gospel Oh the joy to serve the Lord Through and for families, made possible Oh the joy to serve the Lord His support is poured, His love is faithful Oh the joy to serve the Lord Through and for families, made possible [Bridge] So hold me near, and send me out When the miles feel long, remind my heart What family means, what heaven shapes A love that travels, never parts [Final Chorus] Oh the joy to serve the Lord To represent Him and share His gospel Oh the joy to serve the Lord Through and for families, made possible Oh the joy to serve the Lord His support is poured, His love is faithful Oh the joy to serve the Lord For our eternal home, we yearn

Tree Already There

The goal is not to join the church

Or wanting you to believe something

For then you would miss the point

It is not just about the joining

The Book of Mormon starts with a family

And their struggle on a journey far

For not all of them share the father's vision

And there is contention from the start

Some sons do the least that is asked

Their heart is not okay with this change

But, one son knew how to correct this path

He prayed and gained for himself faith

He, too saw what his father saw

A tree bearing the purest white fruit

Of the love found there was God

Offering us His Son, in truth

The book is about connections

Of turning your heart to Christ

And partaking of the love shared

 By covenant making in life

The tree is already there

It is up to us to reach for it

And to be willing to share

Knowing how YOU are better for it

[Verse 1] The goal is not to join the church

[Chorus] The tree is already there

 (The tree is already there)

Reach for it

Reach for it

 The love is already there

(The love is already there)

Christ is near

Christ is near

[Bridge] Knowing you've found something of value to share

Knowing how YOU are better for it

Not just the joining,

not just the name

But the turning of a heart

[Final Chorus] The tree is already there (The tree is already there) Reach for it Reach for it The love is already there (The love is already there) Christ is near Christ is near

1 Nephi, chapter 11:

For it came to pass after I had desired to know the things that my father had seen, and believing that the Lord was able to make them known unto me, as I sat pondering in mine heart I was caught away in the Spirit of the Lord, yea, into an exceedingly high mountain, which I never had before seen, and upon which I never had before set my foot.

He Who Notes the Fall of a Sparrow

He who notes the fall of a sparrow
Surely hears the pleadings of our heart
Remember where'er we lack in wisdom
It's through prayer that our Father imparts

To those who are struggling with challenges
With difficulties large or small
Prayer is what moves those door hinges
That the love of God may come to call

Speak to Him... then listen
As miracles are wrought
That, this time, as tears moisten
It's from a wondrous hope filled thought

Know... no matter that where you live is crowded
And millions of people surround
Answers come from heaven... though once doubted
When we're searching... God can be found

Long ago... one named Daisy
Had been taught the seeds of truth
Time passed... something stirred her heart
She wished again for that time of reproof

She saw missionaries at a distance
And prayed fervently to Father in Heaven
There to promise... if given a new chance
She would open her door and heart unto them

Meanwhile... missionaries too were praying
And working to find someone to teach
They searched old records of tracting
And knew... Daisy was the one to reach

Such it was that very day
That they knocked upon her door
Through a passport of prayer and faith
All were taught... as love did pour

Matthew 10:
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Hit the Ball

Knock that ball
Out of the park
Give your all
Prayer is the start

Aim with faith
Make that contact
Face to face
There's strength to act

Hit the ball out of the park is an idiom that means to do something extraordinarily well.
What better thing to do exceptionally well, than to teach the gospel to a golden contact.

Unto All the World

https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2013-11-022-unto-all-the-world-the-gospel-in-russia?lang=eng

To spread the gospel
Unto all of the world
Is not impossible
If it's the will of the Lord

I just watched a beautiful video of Russia when Elder Nelson was given the responsibility, through President Benson, to open doors where countries did not allow missionaries.  It took six years and it was an amazing time.  What memories! It eas families that had left Russia, joined the church, and then returned to their homeland that made it possible.  Russia required 20 members.  How else could that happen when missionary work was not allowed. Beautiful.

Amazing

John 9:1–41, Man born blind tells the Pharisees of Christ's healing power
Spread the word
About Christ
Make Him heard
Be His light

The world needs your voice
More than ever before
Speak of what is choice
Share how you love the Lord

Be like this man,
Once blind, who sees
Through Christ, one can
Spreads joyful seeds

Two By Two

Today, the missionaries go two by two
In all the world to preach
Sharing the gospel.  That's what they do
And how they love to teach!

I saw our missionary waiting ever hopeful for his investigator to come to church.  We share with another ward, so they get assigned to be with someone so we have a missionary each Sunday.

Freedom of Religion and Speech

It is always okay
To open your mouth and share
How you are blessed this day
Through Heavenly Father's care

He Can Reach the One You Teach

Each person you teach
Our Father can reach
Have faith and preach on
Your message is strong

You never know who is being prepared for the gospel.  Heavenly Father is capable of reaching all His children when the time is right.

The Missionary Invite

Two missionaries read scriptures to a woman who has a child in her lap and another child standing next to her.

The Elders hold the power
To invite the spirit in
To homes that blessings shower
And a change is felt within!

It's all about the Work

Make a difference in the world
It is all about the work
When it's the lords time
His miracles unfurl

I just watched The Best Two Years.  I loved it and this thought struck me.

Now- Here They Come!

Now is the time to prepare
For the coming of the Lord!
We have the gospel to share!
We have light! We have His Word!

Pondering words from President Holland.

We're Hastening the Work

We're hastening the work
In gathering lost sheep
As shepherds to the world
We've the gospel to preach

In a way, I am sharing the gospel...online...
To lands I will never see!
God bless!

The Lord's Emissary

As the Lord's emissary
I hold divine light
It's His words I carry
To teach with insight

I am always amazed how young missionaries are always prepared to give us a message when we feed them.

Focus

Focus like a laser
On what you can do
To spread the Word farther
To those before you

Of all the mind boggling uses for lasers beams, if one could send a message of light to a darkening world, it would be the most important.

Take a Chance

Take a chance
Extend a hand
Help one grasp
The gospel, grand

The fertile soil waits
to be turned and seeded.
The best fruit awaits.

He's Been There Before

He's Been There Before by Elder Troy Whittle
The alarm bell rings at 6:30, I stumble to my feet
I grab my companions bedding and pull off his sheets
A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise?
It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes

The morning activities follow- study, prayer and such
When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't accomplished much
"We have a super day planned," My comp. says with a grin
I lowly utter a faithless breath, "Yeah, if anyone lets us in."

With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street prepared to
Face another day of humidity and heat
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through
My champion and I are riding home not accomplishing what we thought to do

We ride up to the mailbox, hoping to receive a lot
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air Box"
We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete
The only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet

It's past 10:30 p.m. My companion is fast asleep,
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep
In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray
I need to talk to father, but I'm not sure what to say

"Oh, Father" I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away
My hands, my aching hands- worn, hurt and beat;
If our area was any smaller, we'd have knocked every street"

"Why on missions are the days so much alike?
The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike
Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes, it's very hard to see"

"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough?
People always laugh at me, and call me stupid stuff
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack
I want to give them Books of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back"

"And what about my family: They don't have much to say
I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day after day
Oh Father, Why am I here am I just wasting time?
Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind"

"My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?
"The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see
Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you"

My prayer now finished, I stand up, then jump right into bed
I need my rest for tomorrow, we have another long day ahead
Sleep start to overtake me, I seem to drift away
Then it seems a vision takes me to another time in another day

I'm standing alone on the hill. The view is very nice
A man walks to wards me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ"
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet
"Arise," He states, "Follow me to the shade. You and I need to speak"

My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete
He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me
I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through
In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you"

"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you
At times I felt not quite sure what else I could do
I know you don't like to ride a bicycle, for you a car would be sweet
Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds"

"I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something you hate
I remember when I sweat blood from ev’ry pore, oh the agony was great!
I see you don't like your companion- you'd rather have someone else-
I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth"

"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you
I remember when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back"

"Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking on doors all day
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way
It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me"
He embraced me with His arms and His light filled me with His love
With tears in my eyes I watched as He went back to the Father above

I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head
I listened and heard the alarm, then realized I was in my bed
My companion let out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

No matter what we go through, when we feel we can't take more
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ, He's been there before

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

These poems are my own thoughts and impressions as I study the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints

I encourage you to read from the Book of Mormon and the standard works, and listen to modern day prophets, also, that your mind and heart might be touched.
