Quiet Feet at Dawn

Noble fatherhood

Is a glimpse of the divine

For this I've gratitude

And strive to divide my time

My wife and I rise with quiet feet

We pray, and i leave unheard

All the while the children sleep

I provide for them, this their world

I go about my work day

Still, my mind is on my wife and them

Then I hurry on my way

For the fun of family chaos often

The meal the clean up

Bath time and prayers

Their lives are filled with love

They sleep free of cares

They but played while I labored

Not comprehending

 I provided all they had about

All they used as they explored

and created, trying new things out

My wife and I do it all for them

That they might learn and grow

I think of our Father

And thank Him 

For providing this life we know.

The Honored Title Father

We will make a round card that can be spun on a brad to see the colors blur.  Fun.Sadly, I have one without a grandfather or dad.  Sigh.  Any suggestions?

Fatherhood can sometimes be walking the floor at midnight with a baby that can’t sleep. More likely, fatherhood is repairing a bicycle wheel for the umpteenth time, knowing that it won’t last the afternoon. Fatherhood is guiding a youth through the wilderness of adolescence toward adulthood.

Fatherhood is holding tight when all seems to be falling apart; and it’s letting go when it is time to part. Fatherhood is long hours at the blast furnace or in the fields, behind the wheel or in front of a computer screen, working a 12-hour shift or doing a six-month tour of duty. It’s giving one’s all, from the break of day to its end, on the job, in the house, but most of all in the heart.

It is hard to think of an Universal description of Him
Until you think of God- who is always there
wise
solid
a part of you

Father is the one you call
When you have had a scare

It's June and in my corner of the world, that means warmer weather, summer vacations, kids out of school and Father's Day! In just over a week we will be celebrating the influence of dads in our lives. United Families International has researched the critical place fathers play in the lives of their children.

We recognize that dad is not only the one to toss us high into the air, teach us to ride a bike and fix its flat, loosen the tight grip on the pickle jar, move our boxes as we go away to college and comfort us when we make mistakes, but fathers also provide the security that keeps kids in school, and out of drugs, mischief and prisons. Social science clearly shows that having a father in the home lessens substantially the risks of unhappy, delinquent children in society.

I wish to thank Tom Christensen for the following write up on fathers. Having been involved in pro-family work for over 25 years and as the father of 16 children, Tom certainly understands the importance of fathers and families in a healthy society!
