I've come home and become a part again of what makes Fresno great.
The heart of California, is caring, generous, and first rate!
The fire captain, "on top of things"
Walked onto the roof that day
You never know what each fire brings
The flames were not kept at bay
The fire swallowed him whole, it seemed
As he suddenly disappeared
It was a nightmare- the worst dreamed
Death was certain, everyone feared
An heroic effort was made
To rescue "one of their own"
They cut through to where he laid
It was the worst two minutes known
He had been engulfed and nearly consumed
When they carried his body out
70% burned, DEATH was presumed
But, this was NO time for doubt
Still... searing pain has been the only way back
As this man works to rise up and walk again
He gives thanks for each series of healing skin grafts
And the support of loved ones and friends
Verse 1]
The fire captain, on top of things
Walked onto the roof that day
You never know what each fire brings
The flames were not kept at bay
The fire swallowed him whole, it seemed
As he suddenly disappeared
It was a nightmare, the worst dreamed
Death was certain, everyone feared
[Pre-Chorus]
An heroic effort was made
To rescue one of their own
They cut through to where he laid
And pulled him back from stone to bone
[Chorus]
No time for doubt
No time for doubt
He was taken down
But he came back out
No time for doubt
No time for doubt
Seared but still alive
Still here, still proud
[Verse 2]
He had been engulfed and nearly consumed
When they carried his body out
Seventy percent burned, death was presumed
But he was not built for doubt
Still, searing pain has been the only way back
Every step cost blood and years
Every scar on his skin marked what he lacks
And what he fought through here
[Pre-Chorus]
A hundred hard days in a row
Each one a tighter test
But the hands that helped him grow
Kept lifting him through the rest
[Chorus]
No time for doubt
No time for doubt
He was taken down
But he came back out
No time for doubt
No time for doubt
Seared but still alive
Still here, still proud
[Bridge]
As this man works to rise up and walk again
He gives thanks with every breath
For each series of healing skin grafts
For the love that outran death
[Final Chorus]
No time for doubt
No time for doubt
He was taken down
But he came back out
No time for doubt
No time for doubt
He gives thanks today
For every hand that stayed
I want to be named near a perfect man. If I not offend in word, then I can. A voice that utters fervent prayers and sings, Is not the voice that destroys and demeans. When we curse, it ought not to be so. A bridle controls where a horse might go. So it is the tongue we pray to tame. As we call out to thee, in Christ's name.
Bless us to use caution, when ever we speak. To have tongues like angels, we now do seek. By constraint of the spirit and with care Help us to now feel peace though there's much we do bear. When we're unruly, it oft breaks soft hearts. When we criticize, the spirit departs. Yet words are a gift that's from above. Help us to proclaim faith and much love.
We can forgive and be tenderhearted. Help us see when the Spirit's departed. Help us stay hopeful and not estranged. Bless us to see our own faults, with our thoughts changed. Life has many problems, there's much to face. Help us look for what's good and speak with grace. Our tears can be dried, our hearts then healed. Bless us with more faith 'till doubts are stilled.
A voice can be tender and oh, so kind, An extension of a good frame of mind. There are those much plagued with varied disease. Bless us to speak unto the least of these, As the still small voice speaks to the spirit. It edifies those who will but hear it. Help us to love and to speak today. May we serve Thee Lord more now we pray?
[Chorus]
Tongues like angels
Help us now
Tongues like angels
Teach us how
Bless us to speak with caution
Bless us to speak with grace
May love be in our mouths
And faith upon our face
Now that you're baptized, you're on a journey. There are vistas as far as the eye can see. There are wonders and beauty and a glad song. Be of good cheer, Christ will lead you along. He gives us wisdom to finish and with joy. To a celestial reward we will enjoy.
Now that you're baptized you're on a journey. Don't let this day be forgotten and flee. We cannot flag or fail or halt halfway. Those who endure are guiltless the last day. Jesus our Lord will judge all from this world. Someday earth's events will become unfurled.
We can wash garments in blood of the Lord. With faith, we repent. He's shown we're adored. With contrite Spirit and heart broken. By way of covenant, we are now chosen. Where ere we walk, there's a light in the path. If we love the Lord, and do as he hath.
As garments are washed in blood of the Lord, Now, there is much joy for you to live for. Avoid backward glances where there's darkness. Walk with the angels, you'll see much progress. Our paths ascend up hills most of the days. And, we've the Godhead's help in divine ways.
We've been urged to put our hands to the plow. Some things the Holy Ghost can not allow. This Gift is part of a Heavenly Kingdom. We're asked to keep God's words of great wisdom. Our eyes have not seen, nor have our ears heard, Yet, we're enlightened and we move forward.
We've been urged to put our hand to the plow. There is something more the Lord will endow. As we press on, there is brightness and hope. And the Holy Ghost dwells and helps us to cope. He is our guide, on the path we should stay. He's there on the path. He's there night and day.
We have our trials. They're suited to us. We need not compare or think they're unjust. We can have a constant companionship. If we consciously pray and seek for it. Promptings' warm feelings give light on our way. And, help us discern what might be in gray.
We have our trials. They're suited to us. Though we have them, we endure and we trust. We've blessings more than we have burdens. The church is a community of friends. We'll help each other find eternal worth. Here you will find help from Heaven on earth.
[Verse 1]
Now that you're baptized
You're on a journey
There are vistas ahead
As far as you can see
There are wonders and beauty
And a glad song
Be of good cheer
Christ will lead you along
[Pre-Chorus]
He gives us wisdom
To finish with joy
To a celestial reward
We will enjoy
Don't let this day
Be forgotten and flee
We're called to press on
And stay faithfully
[Chorus]
Now that you're baptized
Keep going on
Now that you're baptized
Don't turn back, don't
He'll lead you along
He'll lead you along
(He'll lead you along)
[Verse 2]
We cannot flag
Or fail halfway
Those who endure
Are guiltless that day
Jesus our Lord
Will judge all from this world
Someday earth's events
Will become unfurled
With faith, we repent
With contrite hearts
By way of covenant
We're set apart
[Pre-Chorus]
Where'er we walk
There's a light in the path
If we love the Lord
And do as He hath
As garments are washed
In blood of the Lord
There is much joy
For you to live for
[Chorus]
Now that you're baptized
Keep going on
Now that you're baptized
Don't turn back, don't
He'll lead you along
He'll lead you along
(He'll lead you along)
[Verse 3]
Avoid backward glances
Where darkness grows
Walk with the angels
And watch your soul grow
Our paths ascend up
Hills most of the days
And we've the Godhead's help
In divine ways
We've been urged
To put our hands to the plow
The Holy Ghost teaches
What we need now
[Bridge]
We've got trials
Suited to us
We need not compare
Or call them unjust
If we pray and seek
We'll feel His hand
Promptings give light
When the road seems bland
[Final Chorus]
Now that you're baptized
Keep going on
Now that you're baptized
Don't turn back, don't
He'll lead you along
He'll lead you along
(He'll lead you along)
There's more ahead
Than you can see
Here with the saints
You can still be free
(He'll lead you along)
A plain and precious truth Must be taught to our youth. Though one craves the heat and wants to feast, Once without restraint it is a beast. The souls at stake with winds around. And, there’s a lit match upon the ground.
With much boldness of speech, To the youth we must reach. Wait until you've met a good true love. Who, God will confirm with signs above. With covenants made and hearts melted- With sacred seal, love is welded.
If you wait till wedded, You will not regret it. The best gift is you, as one you will live. To your love be true, and wholly give. The joining can create a blend mild. Spiritually God’s own- sealed your child.
There’s strength when you waver- Scars heal through Christ’s favor. Don’t be deceived and don’t be destroyed. There is more than now to be enjoyed. There are legions of youth who stay clean- Fighting for what’s right, to Christ they do glean!

The Only True God and Jesus Christ Whom He Hath Sent October 2007
Here, in the premillennial inning To a boy whose life was just beginning Came the answer that's been sought out by man "Who is the incomprehensible God?" "To Him, can I pray and be heard?" Yes, I can. And, learn of Him through an iron rod.
Joseph Smith prayed to know which church is true. He, confused and not knowing what to do. At first he was claimed by purgatory Then in the grove a flood of light soon shown. And with embodied and majestic glory The Father and the Son came risen and aglow.
And why did Jesus Christ also appear? He to the left of the Father so dear. Sinless, He'd redeemed us and set up justice. He, with the Father came to earth in the flesh To end confusion with their living witness. We're led by divine beings whose purposes mesh.
[Verse 1]
Here, in the pre millennial inning
To a boy whose life was just beginning
Came the answer that's been sought out by man
Who is the incomprehensible God?
To Him, can I pray and be heard?
Yes, I can.
Pray. Revelation is not gone!
[Pre-Chorus]
Joseph Smith prayed to know which church is true.
He, confused and not knowing what to do.
At first he was claimed by dark purgatory
Then in the grove a flood of light, glory!
[Chorus]
Who is the incomprehensible God?
Yes, I can.
Who is the incomprehensible God?
Yes, I can.
Pray, revelation is not gone
[Verse 2]
And with embodied and majestic glory
The Father and the Son came risen and aglow.
And why our Savior, Jesus, also appear?
He to the left of the Father so dear.
Sinless, He'd redeemed us and set up justice.
He, with the Father came to earth in the flesh
[Bridge]
To end confusion with their living witness.
We're led by divine beings whose purposes mesh.
[Chorus]
Who is the incomprehensible God?
Yes, I can.
Who is the incomprehensible God?
Yes, I can.
Pray, revelation is not gone - Elder Holland
The atonement was done of the Only Begotten Son of God It is the crucial foundation upon which all Christian doctrine rests Upon which every law, principle and virtue of the gospel draws And the plan hinged from the significance of this single pivotal event.
The foreordained Atonement of Christ was the voluntary act. He offered His life and spiritual anguish as a redeeming ransom. As the Savior to those who will repent, He will keep justice intact. Those not spiritual, He'll still save from physical death, and to them woe will come.
Our Lord has already offered the atonement in our behalf He has done His part to make man's eternity a reality. Counting those who've died before maturity, He has already saved half. Now it's up to all the rest, how the demands of justice will be for infinity.
[Verse 1]
The Only Begotten came
to bear what none could bear
The weight of every broken law
the sorrow and the tear
Before the world was settled
the rescue was His own
He took the road of sacrifice
and made the way to home
[Pre-Chorus]
He gave His life in full
He paid what must be paid
Justice still stands unbent
and mercy found a way
[Chorus]
Justice and mercy met
justice and mercy met
At the cross, at the cross
the debt was held and kept
Justice and mercy met
justice and mercy met
He made a living path
for every soul He let
[Verse 2]
He saved the little ones
from death before they knew
He covered all who never had
the years to choose and prove
And for the rest of us
the answer still remains
Will we receive the gift He gave
and answer to His name
[Pre-Chorus]
He gave His life in full
He paid what must be paid
Justice still stands unbent
and mercy found a way
[Chorus]
Justice and mercy met
justice and mercy met
At the cross, at the cross
the debt was held and kept
Justice and mercy met
justice and mercy met
He made a living path
for every soul He let
[Bridge]
If He has done His part
then let my heart be clean
Let me repent in truth
and trust what I have seen
The plan was never small
it reached eternity
The Son gave all to hold us close
and make us fully free
[Final Chorus]
Justice and mercy met
justice and mercy met
At the cross, at the cross
the debt was held and kept
Justice and mercy met
justice and mercy met
He made a living path
for every soul He let
Justice and mercy met
justice and mercy met
Now I will answer Him
with all that I have left
I had a dream, I was in Gethsemane And soon to witness the Savior's agony I stood behind a tree in the foreground nearby As He came through a wicket gate at my right. He asked Peter, James and John to pray He passed to the other side away He knelt and prayed that the cup would pass from Him Nevertheless, He'd do as the Father wilt.
Why did He suffer? Why did He plead His case? As He prayed great tears streamed down His face. I was so moved at the sight, I wept also Out of pure sympathy with His great sorrow. My whole heart went out to Him. What love I felt! I longed for Him as I longed for nothing else. Then He arose and found the Apostles asleep. He gently shook them and asked them to watch keep.
He returned to His place and He prayed again. Then to the Apostles- and He awoke them To admonish...And then He prayed as before. Three times this happened- I knew His face and form. He of noble stature and majestic mien. He was lowly as a child, Our God was meek. And, I was familiar with His appearance. Then, at once things changed to a new circumstance.
The scenery changed, Jesus was to my left. He soon to ascend, I grabbed His knees and begged. He stooped and raised me up so we could embrace. His bosom was warm, I gazed unto His face. He said, "The Apostles work was done for them. You must stay and finish yours." I clung to Him. "Promise me, that I will come to you," I tried. He smiled sweetly and tenderly, and replied- "That will depend entirely upon yourself." I awoke, a sob was in my throat- and, I was all by myself.
What drew me to him was the pain in his eyes Though he was pleasant, he did not oft smile Of his membership, he said, "I'm not worthy I am attracted to men -I've strong feelings Just why am I this way? With feelings so real?" However, he'd not acted on how he'd feel He would not violate the law of chastity For he sought to keep his life in harmony
He spoke for a while we each were in relief This man showed courage to live within beliefs For he did not act upon what was in him I assured him that attraction's not in sin Whatever the cause of how he now does feel It does not matter his worthiness was real He's worthy to serve and enjoy fellowship He still did belong and with his membership
I told him much more from spirit to spirit And of every single word, he wanted to hear it I told him thank you for wanting to be clean That this attraction was not differently seen Heterosexuals and homosexuals, too Have the same requirements that they must do I gave him assurance and he sat up straighter Sex is a small part, On Christ we must center
With hope in his eyes, newly detected Not feeling rejected, next steps were directed With a recommend, he could simply endure For during this life, there might not be a cure God loves his children, we don't know all meanings And what we now feel may not be as it's seemings When we're unworthy, may we act to repent Let's love each other, we're all so different
To you who struggle :
When we've fears we're quick to feel offended Please recognize that to harm was not intended We can do things to keep weeds from choking And when we've faith, great blessings we're invoking Like anyone else there's lessons in gardening And things to do to keep soils from hardening For spiritual nourishment there's things we must do Like scripture reading, worship, fasting and prayer, too.
The Lord's aware of each current circumstance Fight the good fight. We can take a stance We can promote the law of chastity Whatever our situations here might be Dear Father, in regards to those who have this struggle Help them overcome all the thoughts that juggle We weep for them. We've admiration and respect Of what we can do to show love, let us detect
[Chorus]
Let's love each other, we're all so different
Let's love each other, we're all so different
On Christ we must center
On Christ we must center
We're all so different
We're all so different
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland Helping Those Who Struggle With Same Gender Attraction
My Dear, I know my limitations And you're more than I can take What's more I have reservations About the choice of friends you make
It's not that I don't love you You are such a part of me That the drama that you do Is just too hard to see
So where does that leave you? That is for you to decide You're in need of rescue Not just where to reside... But of decisions made inside
This is but your journey And Christ can give you care For He knows of all your needs And awaits for you in prayer
[Verse 1]
My Dear, I know my limitations
And you're more than I can take
What's more I have reservations
About the choice of friends you make
It's not that I don't love you
You are such a part of me
That the drama that you do
Is just too hard to see
[Pre-Chorus]
So where does that leave you?
That is for you to decide
You're in need of rescue
Not just where to reside...
[Chorus]
This is but your journey
This is but your journey
Christ can give you care
Christ can give you care
For He knows of all your needs
For He knows of all your needs
And awaits for you in prayer
And awaits for you in prayer
[Verse 2]
I have stood here with you
Through the hurt and the noise
Watched the same old shadows
Steal the edge from your voice
But I won't close the doorway
No, I won't turn away
I can only speak the truth
Then let your heart obey
[Pre-Chorus]
So where does that leave you?
That is for you to decide
You're in need of rescue
Not just where to reside...
[Chorus]
This is but your journey
This is but your journey
Christ can give you care
Christ can give you care
For He knows of all your needs
For He knows of all your needs
And awaits for you in prayer
And awaits for you in prayer
[Bridge]
When the road is broken
And your hands are full of fear
There is still a Savior
Who is patiently near
Take the step before you
Let the old weight fall
He will meet you in the question
He will answer when you call
[Chorus]
This is but your journey
This is but your journey
Christ can give you care
Christ can give you care
For He knows of all your needs
For He knows of all your needs
And awaits for you in prayer
And awaits for you in prayer --------------------------------------
At the door, I stood my ground my welcome, for peace only If you want to be around You'll need another story
Grandma... seeing your tears Now chooses to get involved Your move in soon nears Love melts what's not resolved
With promises to compromise Each gave in some hard way Each with rules that tries Being careful what to say
The tears melted the ice Such that friends are welcome... if They are respectful, quiet, and nice And grandpa doesn't raise a tiff
As you are an adult She knows your time's your own And she'll not add insult But, if you keep her sleepless, how she'll moan
If you choose drugs and drink Although it's more than we can bare She'll not raise a stink But... some tears she still will share

--------------------------------------------- Where else but the family Is there patience, love, and sacrifice As offspring try amply It's grandma's home of peace that will suffice
What other institution Can melt away behaviors And start peaceful resolutions But the home a grandchild adores
What other place Than where aunts and uncles come And with them cousins chase Delighting in some fun
In the family line There are others who too chose To rebel and give hard times Which makes yours just part of current news
And in the path of forgiveness Some how this makes a difference As so many come to bless Unto hope of repentance
You saved some of your income And kept your job as required
You along with some friends
Found a place, for new freedom desired

----------------------- O.k. you moved in with a friend And your things went here and there Your car took a nasty end Too you job... your pocket's bare
Grandma is your second chance A place to feel you've promise To lift your circumstance Look ahead and take notice
You don't have much this time To unpack in your room Some friends had been unkind And sang a selfish tune
Humility and hope Are the right mixture To lean towards health to cope And make happiness a fixture
What better Christmas gift Than a chance to begin again And from the past... set it adrift As with grandma you find a friend

We have joy in bad works for a season As we're complacent and don't listen to reason Our selfishness makes the heart grow so hard But, exactly what is there to guard?
Is there excitement in some infraction? Are we angry with some others actions? If we lose sight and follow the wrong crowd We'll push the limits to what’s not allowed
Till one day, comes a feeling of remorse For how far we journeyed down the slippery course Yet, we've a friend whom we can turn to If we'd but return Jesus’ love, too?
For He will lift us up. It is time to mend He can soften the heart. He's our best friend There’s a lesson every wise man has learned Perfection only one man has earned.
As we apply principles taught by the Savior We feel His love change our reckless behavior Then in humility one prays morning, noon and night For strength to stay on the path that is right
When we look for good it’s easy to find When we’re Christ-like we’re patient and we’re kind We are grateful for the chance to take Part in joy everlasting with a new heart

3 Ne. 27: 11 11 But if it be not built upon my gospel, and is built upon the works of men, or upon the works of the devil, verily I say unto you they have joy in their works for a season, and by and by the end cometh, and they are ahewn down and cast into the bfire, from whence there is no return.
The road is difficult
The journey is long
When the winds tumult
I'll not drift from my song
For with hope grown brighter
I will anchor my soul
So, I'll step lighter
And spring towards my goal
I have faith in the Lord
That He leads my day
With armor and sword
For His will, I will pray
I'll not murmur or faint
For I am steadfast
As a Latter-Day Saint
On my Lord, my eyes cast
Press forward, onward
With steadfastness in Christ
Celestially toward
Your hope of eternal life
[Verse 1]
The road is difficult
The journey is long
When the winds tumult
I'll not drift from my song
For with hope grown brighter
I will anchor my soul
So, I'll step lighter
And spring towards my goal
[Pre-Chorus]
I have faith in the Lord
That He leads my day
With armor and sword
For His will, I will pray
[Chorus]
Press forward, onward
With steadfastness in Christ
Press forward, onward
Celestially toward
Your hope of eternal life
[Verse 2]
I'll not murmur or faint
For I am steadfast
As a Latter-Day Saint
On my Lord, my eyes cast
Through the dust and the fire
Through the cold of night
You raise my desire
And keep my soul in sight
[Pre-Chorus]
I have faith in the Lord
That He leads my day
With armor and sword
For His will, I will pray
[Chorus]
Press forward, onward
With steadfastness in Christ
Press forward, onward
Celestially toward
Your hope of eternal life
[Bridge]
When the path feels steep
And my strength feels small
You are with me
You will carry it all
[Final Chorus]
Press forward, onward
With steadfastness in Christ
Press forward, onward
Celestially toward
Your hope of eternal life
Press forward, onward
I will follow Your light
Press forward, onward
Celestially toward
Your hope of eternal life
2Nephi 31:19, 20
19And now, my beloved brethren,
after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path,
I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you,
Nay; for ye have not come thus far save
it were the word of Christ with unshaken faith
in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him
who is mighty to save.
20Wherefore, ye must press forward
with a steadfastness in Christ,
having a perfect brightness of hope,
and a love of God and of all men.
Wherefore, if ye shall press forward,
feasting upon the word of Christ,
and endure to the end, behold,
thus saith the Father:
Ye shall have eternal life.
Ether 12:4
4Wherefore, whoso believeth in God
might with surety hope for a better world,
yea even a place at the right hand of God,
which hope cometh of faith,
maketh an anchor to the souls of men,
which would make them sure and steadfast,
always abounding in good works,
being led to glorify God
with thanks to:

Verse 1]
You have places to go
People to meet
Things to achieve
You've goals
You've legs and feet
But if you don't, here's hope
With braces for forearms and hands
And as new faith takes ahold
Walking!... laboring, each new step lands
[Pre-Chorus]
May our steps move us forward
To who we are meant to be
Yes, at times we may be wayward
But press on...
[Chorus]
Progressing
Progressing
Press on, progressing
We keep on moving
Progressing
Progressing
Press on, progressing
Till we find our meaning
[Verse 2]
When the road feels uneven
And the weight hits hard
One small step is enough
To go farther than before
You don't need perfect timing
Just a steady yes today
Every breath can be a turning
Every fall can make a way
[Pre-Chorus]
May our steps move us forward
To who we are meant to be
Yes, at times we may be wayward
But press on...
[Chorus]
Progressing
Progressing
Press on, progressing
We keep on moving
Progressing
Progressing
Press on, progressing
Till we find our meaning
[Bridge]
If your hands are shaking
If your feet feel slow
Grace is in the reaching
Even here, you grow
[Final Chorus]
Progressing
Progressing
Press on, progressing
We keep on moving
Progressing
Progressing
Press on, progressing
Till we find our meaning
Verse 1]
We cannot afford
To miss out on prayer
To speak to the Lord
And be in His care
Bow down and pray
Let your heart go still
Answers will come
In His perfect will
[Pre-Chorus]
At the very moment
You call His name
He leans close in mercy
He knows your frame
[Chorus]
Fully in His care
Fully in His care
God hears your humble prayer
Fully in His care
His eyes and ears are with you
Right where you are
Fully in His care
Fully in His care
[Verse 2]
To guide you all day
To improve and become
When you lay it down
He is never numb
There is no other resource
That blesses you like this
Anytime, anywhere
He meets you in the shift
[Pre-Chorus]
At the very moment
You open your soul
Grace finds the broken
And makes you whole
[Chorus]
Fully in His care
Fully in His care
God hears your humble prayer
Fully in His care
His eyes and ears are with you
Right where you are
Fully in His care
Fully in His care
[Bridge]
There is no other resource
No other way
To set your feet on a course
That holds you today
So I will bow down
And I will pray
Till my worry fades
And Your peace stays
[Final Chorus]
Fully in His care
Fully in His care
God hears your humble prayer
Fully in His care
His eyes and ears are with you
Right where you are
Fully in His care
Fully in His care

Our heritage
Came of sacrifice
Through faith and courage
For a better life
Preserved to labor
They carved, for us, a trail
A path to the Savior
Hear the echoes "all is well"
Let us do the same
For our children's children
In our Lord's name
Let us persevere for them
Working wonderfully well together
Without concerns of status
Yes! A modern day miracle
Of charity and peace amongst us

Old wounds held together

...persevered against injustice, misunderstanding, some intolerance, occasional bigotry, occasional racism, against differences of custom and traditions and faith, [and] labored against all of that to carve out for us, their descendants, the wonderful day and the marvelous miraculous time in which we live
Elder Holland said. “We owe the same pioneering, persevering legacy to our children and our children’s children.”
Elder Holland spoke at the Ogden (Utah) Pioneer Days Devotional at the Dee Events Center at Weber State University on July 17, 2011, and encouraged individuals to work together while respecting and emulating their diverse pioneer heritage in their communities today.
“People working together are more successful, more prosperous and much more happy than neighborhoods or ethnic groups or religious faiths that are suspicious of one another, threatened by one another, and all too often hostile, even violent, toward one another,” he said.
I have been lovingly led To a woman who completes me When I was on a path to dread Prayer helped me to believe and see ... A recent love Was a deception I saw the dirt on her gloves With prayer's closer inspection
Then in heart ache I questioned myself And for pain's sake Put dating on the shelf
But, as time flew I made a rebound I had to move, too For the right girl, I'd found
This time my vision's not been blurred I'm with the right person, in the right place And a prayer has sealed what my heart assured She's whom I'll marry throughout time and space...
Now: work, love and school There's no time for rest Except for the spiritual fuel I would not ace each test
And what lies ahead? A sealing date, of course And from this day, may I be lead By proven prayer as my best resource For that is the way to be safe from remorse

Oh, the one I marry will have to be The one Heavenly Father hand picked for me He knowing the beginning from the end Is the designer of eternal friends
I pray that we both will equally know That our love from Heavenly Father doth flow May faith and trust ground us well from the start That our love may grow deeply in the heart
Thus, the one chosen for me Comes, almost, familiarly A bit, perhaps, of Mom and Dad The best connections I have had
I will grow a testimony of my love How perfectly a gift given from above The differences- how they make a nice blend As blessings for each other, gifts in the end
love- Is it a match, a spark A flame to dim and grow dark Or is it a connection Spiritual for detection
Promising more as the windows of heaven outpour That individually we each have been framed for Unto a mirror where lies the future and past A place to remember promises forever cast

When the people, fearing God, cried out with one voice....Were they singing?
Was someone signing and they were saying the words in unison? I do sense that the latter is what happened.
Heavenly Father, We cry aloud, Lamenting our sins, with one voice. Please forgive us our carnal state. To speak Thy Son's name, we rejoice.
Oh have mercy and apply the Atoning blood of Christ. Help us to be more repentant, With our hearts more purified.
May we be filled with Thy spirit, For a remission of our sins. May Thy mercy shine upon us. With grace. Please forgive us and cleanse.
We feel less that the earth
Even less than unwelcome dust
Help us realize our worth
The potential within each of us

May we be filled with Thy spirit
For a remission of our sins
We lean in low
We come again
And ask You to begin
[Pre-Chorus]
Oh have mercy
And apply
The Atoning blood of Christ
Help us be more repentant
With our hearts more purified

Mosiah Chapter 4
King Benjamin continues his address—Salvation comes because of the Atonement—Believe in God to be saved—Retain a remission of your sins through faithfulness—Impart of your substance to the poor—Do all things in wisdom and order. About 124 B.C.
1 And now, it came to pass that when king Benjamin had made an end of speaking the words which had been delivered unto him by the angel of the Lord, that he cast his eyes round about on the multitude, and behold they had fallen to the earth, for the fear of the Lord had come upon them.
2 And they had viewed themselves in their own carnal state, even less than the dust of the earth. And they all cried aloud with one voice, saying: O have mercy, and apply the atoning blood of Christ that we may receive forgiveness of our sins, and our hearts may be purified; for we believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who created heaven and earth, and all things; who shall come down among the children of men.
Verse 1]
Little by little
Temptations come
Trouble by trouble
You fail to become
Wisdom's corrupted
Judgment's gone off
Trust, now, interrupted
And then you get caught
This high life cut short
Competitors leer
Your vacancy they're for
Your enemies cheer
[Pre-Chorus]
Remember the day
The Lord had your back
You walked in His ways
Your life was on track
The peace of the Sabbath
The calm of the covenant
You were on the right path
It's time to be repentant
[Chorus]
Walk in my ways
Walk in my ways
Put love back in all of your days
Walk in my ways
Walk in my ways
Come follow me, come follow me
[Verse 2]
Return to the good days
When you could live with yourself
You had nothing to hide
When you felt and loved to help
No need to pretend
No need to divide
The door is still open
The road is inside
[Pre-Chorus]
Remember the day
The Lord had your back
You walked in His ways
Your life was on track
The peace of the Sabbath
The calm of the covenant
You were on the right path
It's time to be repentant
[Chorus]
Walk in my ways
Walk in my ways
Put love back in all of your days
Walk in my ways
Walk in my ways
Come follow me, come follow me
[Bridge]
Hear the Lord call
Hear the Lord call
The mercy is near
The old chains fall
[Break]
Return to the good days
You can live with yourself
You had nothing to hide
You were made to help
[Final Chorus]
Walk in my ways
Walk in my ways
Put love back in all of your days
Walk in my ways
Walk in my ways
Come follow me, come follow me
Walk in my ways
Walk in my ways
Put love back in all of your days
[Verse 1]
The birth of a pearl
Is a miraculous thing
From an oyster to unfurl
A grain, a treasure to be
See the pearl shimmer
with a soft inner glow
Unlike any other gem
the earth holds to show
[Pre-Chorus]
Iridescent
With a luster of white
See it reflect and refract
All the colors of light
[Chorus]
Inwardly aglow
Inwardly aglow
Each prized in heaven
Each one made to grow
Inwardly aglow
Inwardly aglow
Beauty to become
Bright for the road
[Verse 2]
See the Young Women
Inwardly aglow
Each prized in heaven
With beauty to grow
Her luster of virtue
From being washed clean
Is bright for the future
Like celestial crystalline
[Chorus]
Inwardly aglow
Inwardly aglow
Each prized in heaven
Each one made to grow
Inwardly aglow
Inwardly aglow
Beauty to become
Bright for the road
[Bridge]
From grain to glory
From hidden to shown
What was once buried
Becomes a holy stone
[Final Chorus]
Inwardly aglow
Inwardly aglow
Each prized in heaven
Each one made to grow
Inwardly aglow
Inwardly aglow
Beauty to become
Bright for the road
The birth of a pearl is truly a miraculous event. Unlike gemstones or precious metals that must be mined from the earth, pearls are grown by live oysters far below the surface of the sea. Gemstones must be cut and polished to bring out their beauty. But pearls need no such treatment to reveal their loveliness. They are born from oysters complete -- with a shimmering iridescence, lustre and soft inner glow unlike any other gem on earth.
A natural pearl begins its life as a foreign object, such as a parasite or piece of shell that accidentally lodges itself in an oyster's soft inner body where it cannot be expelled. To ease this irritant, the oyster's body takes defensive action. The oyster begins to secrete a smooth, hard crystalline substance around the irritant in order to protect itself. This substance is called "nacre." As long as the irritant remains within its body, the oyster will continue to secrete nacre around it, layer upon layer. Over time, the irritant will be completely encased by the silky crystalline coatings. And the result, ultimately, is the lovely and lustrous gem called a pearl.
How something so wondrous emerges from an oyster's way of protecting itself is one of nature's loveliest surprises. For the nacre is not just a soothing substance. It is composed of microscopic crystals of calcium carbonate, aligned perfectly with one another, so that light passing along the axis of one crystal is reflected and refracted by another to produce a rainbow of light and color.
Cultured pearls share the same properties as natural pearls. Oysters form cultured pearls in an almost identical fashion. The only difference is a person carefully implants the irritant in the oyster, rather than leaving it to chance. We then step aside and let nature create its miracle.
He's Been There Before by Elder Troy Whittle The alarm bell rings at 6:30, I stumble to my feet I grab my companions bedding and pull off his sheets A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise? It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes
The morning activities follow- study, prayer and such When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't accomplished much "We have a super day planned," My comp. says with a grin I lowly utter a faithless breath, "Yeah, if anyone lets us in."
With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street prepared to Face another day of humidity and heat It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through My champion and I are riding home not accomplishing what we thought to do
We ride up to the mailbox, hoping to receive a lot Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air Box" We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete The only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet
It's past 10:30 p.m. My companion is fast asleep, Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray I need to talk to father, but I'm not sure what to say
"Oh, Father" I begin, "What happened to us today? I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away My hands, my aching hands- worn, hurt and beat; If our area was any smaller, we'd have knocked every street"
"Why on missions are the days so much alike? The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes, it's very hard to see"
"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough? People always laugh at me, and call me stupid stuff Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack I want to give them Books of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back"
"And what about my family: They don't have much to say I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day after day Oh Father, Why am I here am I just wasting time? Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind"
"My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me? "The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you"
My prayer now finished, I stand up, then jump right into bed I need my rest for tomorrow, we have another long day ahead Sleep start to overtake me, I seem to drift away Then it seems a vision takes me to another time in another day
I'm standing alone on the hill. The view is very nice A man walks to wards me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ" Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet "Arise," He states, "Follow me to the shade. You and I need to speak"
My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you"
"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you At times I felt not quite sure what else I could do I know you don't like to ride a bicycle, for you a car would be sweet Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds"
"I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something you hate I remember when I sweat blood from ev’ry pore, oh the agony was great! I see you don't like your companion- you'd rather have someone else- I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth"
"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you I remember when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back"
"Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking on doors all day I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?"
"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me" He embraced me with His arms and His light filled me with His love With tears in my eyes I watched as He went back to the Father above
I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head I listened and heard the alarm, then realized I was in my bed My companion let out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!" I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
These poems are my own thoughts and impressions as I study the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints
I encourage you to read from the Book of Mormon and the standard works, and listen to modern day prophets, also, that your mind and heart might be touched.
