Moroni served well his people
Until they were no more
Being chased, he escaped evil
He kept and wrote for the Lord
The records we hold came at a high price
Of painstaking labor and sacrifice
This prophet shares with us the words of Christ
For our learning, they are filled with light
Absolute morals do and will exist
Through repentance there is grace to enlist
Of Christ's Atonement the scriptures witness
Offering examples of how to persist
The world teaches us a different tale:
When man serves himself, this is no crime
Every man prospers according to his genius
Conquering as will and strength combine
When he was done writing all revealed
He placed the records in a stone box in a hill
Until a later time to be unsealed
When he, as angel would them unveil
That the record of his fallen people
Would warn us of the cycle of pride
At one time they had been God's people
Humble they prospered with goodness inside
But, soon they felt no need for prayer
When battles came, they sought revenge
The thirst for blood was everywhere
To battle to their deaths was their pledge
Let us learn to stay humble and true
Listening to the prophet, for all of our days
Again and again, heeding what to do
With our allegiance to God , always
