Mothers

A Mother is Born

A mother is born
With the babies first cry
Prepared through labor
Her breast stirs in reply

All That I Am

All I am I owe to Eve
The mother of all living
For us, she fell, I believe
Selflessly, she was giving

All I am I owe also
To my mother who gave me birth
Who taught me all I know
About honesty and self worth

All I am I owe to Christ
Who one day will call me home
To live eternal life
With all the mothers known

Sacred Roll Celebrated on the Sabbath

It is fitting that we celebrate
Our mothers on the Sabbath day
And express how we appreciate
All the sacrifices she has made

For without her where would we be?
And without Christ where would we go?
Our ties go on for eternity
Because of our Savior, I know!
Home is a Feeling

Home is not a place
It's a feeling,
It's a warm embrace,
Safe for healing
Home is where you are known
Life's memories lie there
It is where love is shown
And you let down your hair

 Prather, California

Our mother waits
On both sides of the veil
She visits graves
And all of us without fail

I have seen her place flowers into a mason jar and put special stuff on it so the deer won't eat the tasty flowers. Then she distributes them to loved ones at the cemetery who have passed on.  Then she waits for calls and visits from all of us. That is her Mother's Day, Father's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

A Mother Is

A mother is as soft as a rose
Her kiss tickles my wee nose
Her sweet lullabies tenderly teach
As her eyes speak of love with each

A mother is as warm as a throw
As a snuggle safe to know
On her lap her arms wrap me up close
And I stay awake...well almost

Mother did what she could
To bring about the good.

She taught me how to face
Life's hardest trials with faith.

Her example did tell
To suffer through and smile.

So, to endure it well,
Out of love, all the while

Mothers don't give up
They know their child's needs
Nurturing much with love
They teach them how to succeed

[Verse 1] Mother did what she could To bring about the good She taught me how to face Life's hardest trials with faith Her hands were worn but kind Her prayers were strong and wide When shadows pulled me low She stood and made me go [Pre-Chorus] Her example did tell To suffer through and smile Out of love, all the while She held me every mile [Chorus] Mothers don't give up They know their child's needs Mothers don't give up They plant the seed (plant the seed) Nurturing much with love They teach them how to succeed Mothers don't give up They know their child's needs [Verse 2] When tears came to my face She never fled the place She'd wipe the storm away And name a brighter day She saw what I could be Before I could believe And every scar I wore She turned to something more [Pre-Chorus] Her example did tell To suffer through and smile Out of love, all the while She held me every mile [Chorus] Mothers don't give up They know their child's needs Mothers don't give up They plant the seed (plant the seed) Nurturing much with love They teach them how to succeed Mothers don't give up They know their child's needs [Bridge] So if I stand today It's from her steady grace The lessons in her hands Still guide me where I land I hear her in my heart When every road is hard She gave me strength to rise And keep my eyes on skies [Final Chorus] Mothers don't give up They know their child's needs Mothers don't give up They plant the seed (plant the seed) Nurturing much with love They teach them how to succeed Mothers don't give up They know their child's needs Mothers don't give up They know their child's needs Mothers don't give up They plant the seed (plant the seed)

Dear Child, Born of My Heart- Adoption

Dear child, born of my heart ❤️,
Where would I be,
Without you as a part
Of this, our family?

Dear child, so born of my heart
Where would I be,
Without you as the start
of this wonderful painting of family art?

Feeling blessed that my son and his beautiful wife have 3 wonderful children- The first having been adopted.  She was pregnant (after losing a pregnancy and trying for so long) and starting to "show" when the adoption went through. Then they had a third.

He and his mother were talking one day and he said that he was born of his mother's heart.  Beautiful, right?

[Verse 1] Dear child, born of my heart You stitched my days together Tiny hands, big sky You changed the weather I was half a home Till you walked in [Pre-Chorus] Where would I be Without you near me? Where would I be Without your name in my story? [Chorus] Dear child, born of my heart Where would I be? Without you as a part Of this family Dear child, born of my heart You are my start The first bright stroke In our family art [Verse 2] Your shoes by the door Your laugh on the floor Little crumbs of life That I cherish more Every sleepy kiss Every Sunday song You made this place Where I belong [Pre-Chorus] Where would I be Without you near me? Where would I be Without your name in my story? [Chorus] Dear child, born of my heart Where would I be? Without you as a part Of this family Dear child, born of my heart You are my start The first bright stroke In our family art [Bridge] If the road turns hard And the rain comes down I will be the hand That holds you now You are the light In my oldest dream You made a home Out of everything [Final Chorus] Dear child, born of my heart Where would I be? Without you as a part Of this family Dear child, born of my heart

Who is the One?

Who is the one who always tries
To see the world with child-like eyes
To light the world with magic and love
It is the mother whom we speak of

Who is the one who believes in us
And for that purpose, gives service
To light our path endlessly
It is through the mother that we see

[Verse 1] Who is the one who always tries To see the world with child-like eyes To light the world with magic and love It is the mother whom we speak of [Pre-Chorus] Who is the one who believes in us And for that purpose gives service [Chorus] It is the mother whom we speak of It is the mother who lifts us up To light our path endlessly It is through the mother that we see [Verse 2] When the road runs hard and the room feels cold She names the stars before we're old She gives her best then gives some more A steady hand at the open door [Pre-Chorus] Who is the one who believes in us And for that purpose gives service [Chorus] It is the mother whom we speak of It is the mother who lifts us up To light our path endlessly It is through the mother that we see [Bridge] If I lose my way she calls me home With gentle fire I am not alone She taught me grace to plant and grow The world is kind because she showed [Final Chorus] It is the mother whom we speak of It is the mother who lifts us up To light our path endlessly It is through the mother that we see It is the mother whom we speak of It is the mother who lifts us up

Philoteknos- Meaning Mother Love

Philoteknos, meaning mother love,
Is given to women from Heaven above
Her nurturing care and tender hands tutor
And point a child to a Christ-like future

In the middle of the night or any time
She is there offering unconditional love
Acceptance, freedom to flail and climb
Teaching faith conquers, they can rise above

Teaching to trust that God has a plan
That there are gifts to seek after
It is more than a mindset of ,"I can"
Teaching to pray and receive an answer

Question: "What does the Bible say about Christian mothers?"

http://www.gotquestions.org/mothers-Christian.html
"What does the Bible say about Christian mothers?" Got Questions Ministries, n.d. Web.

Answer: Being a mother is a very important role that the Lord chooses to give to many women. A Christian mother is told to love her children (Titus 2:4-5), in part so that she does not bring reproach on the Lord and on the Savior whose name she bears.

Children are a gift from the Lord (Psalm 127:3-5). In Titus 2:4, the Greek word philoteknos appears in reference to mothers loving their children. This word represents a special kind of “mother love.” The idea that flows out of this word is that of caring for our children, nurturing them, affectionately embracing them, meeting their needs, and tenderly befriending each one as a unique gift from the hand of God.

Several things are commanded of Christian mothers in God’s Word:
Availability – morning, noon, and night (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)
Involvement – interacting, discussing, thinking, and processing life together (Ephesians 6:4)
Teaching – the Scriptures and a biblical worldview (Psalm 78:5-6Deuteronomy 4:10Ephesians 6:4)
Training – helping a child to develop skills and discover his/her strengths (Proverbs 22:6) and spiritual gifts (Romans 12:3-8 and 1 Corinthians 12)
Discipline – teaching the fear of the Lord, drawing the line consistently, lovingly, firmly (Ephesians 6:4Hebrews 12:5-11Proverbs 13:2419:1822:1523:13-1429:15-17)
Nurture – providing an environment of constant verbal support, freedom to fail, acceptance, affection, unconditional love (Titus 2:42 Timothy 1:7Ephesians 4:29-325:1-2Galatians 5:221 Peter 3:8-9)
Modeling with Integrity – living what you say, being a model from which a child can learn by “catching” the essence of godly living (Deuteronomy 4:91523Proverbs 10:911:3Psalm 37:1837).

A Mother's Day Tribute at Passing

You know how to warm a heart
Sweetly- you’ve touched mine
Faith and charity you impart
Giving of yourself and time

Mother, you are an inspiration
This is your legacy
So bright with dedication
…Your passing saddens me

Lately, I hold myself close
Wishing you were here
At times, I hear you speak almost
And it brings to me a tear

Oh mother, mine
I miss your voice
It's been a long time
Without you there’s a void

A shining pillar of motherhood
Your example was good and faithful
Always bringing life to the mood
I enjoyed that you were playful

I miss you every day and night
The way you loved and cared
Thanks for being such a light
For the memories we’ve shared

Oh mother, mine
I miss your touch
It's been a long time
I miss you. Oh, so much!

Thank you Tim for inspiring this poem.
For putting to words so much that is

true about Mothers... and how they are missed.

Motherhood Womanhood Relief Society

She gives relief to the poor
The needy and the distressed
For souls she does so much more
According to how she's impressed

She knows a heavenly mandate
Has been given to her to lead
Women of the world to a more divine state
Through her grand example indeed

As evil and darkness threaten
She holds her lamp brightly lit
And speaks of God in heaven
That she and others will profit

I'm visiting teaching today-
thoughts from:
From Our History
At a June 9, 1842, meeting of the Relief Society, the Prophet Joseph Smith taught the sisters that their society was “not only to relieve the poor, but to save souls.” 1 This statement of a spiritual as well as a temporal purpose has characterized Relief Society throughout its history. In 1906 President Joseph F. Smith (1838–1918) taught: “[Relief Society] has not only to deal with the necessities of the poor, the sick and the needy, but a part of its duty—and the larger part, too—is to look after the spiritual welfare and salvation of the mothers and daughters of Zion; to see that none is neglected, but that all are guarded against misfortune, calamity, the powers of darkness, and the evils that threaten them in the world.” 2 In 2001 Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles reiterated, “Every sister in this Church who has made covenants with the Lord has a divine mandate to help save souls, to lead the women of the world, to strengthen the homes of Zion, and to build the kingdom of God.” 3

The Easter Dress

A little girl in her new Easter dress
Covered her eyes as though a princess
Not to ignore, but in fun to play
Hide and see in a peek a boo way

And for her I sang a special song
As a single tear trickled along
Memories spilled of a yester year
To flow upon me all so clear

My mothers voice and her piano
As she rejoiced, her face all aglow
Now my eyes have opened and I can see!
T'was love she had been sharing with me!

My mom always bought new dresses for her four daughters.  When we were little, she made them.

Because I knew their mother
There's a bond that we share
I can reach them like no other...
With their mother's care

You may ask how I do this?
Oft times it's through prayer
Softening me, to notice
A special love so rare

Someday when, again, I see her
I hope she will approve
Right now it brings, to me a tear
Knowing what death cannot remove

This is what the Cinderella story should have been...The father dies and remarries a dear friend who knew his wife. In a way like no other, she can keep the memory of the mother alive, and, heal the grief.

[Verse 1] Because I knew their mother There's a bond that we share I can reach them like no other... With their mother's care [Pre-Chorus] You may ask how I do this? Oft times it's through prayer Softening me, to notice A special love so rare [Chorus] Someday when, again, I see her I hope she will approve Right now it brings, to me a tear Knowing what death cannot remove [Verse 2] Because I knew their mother I carry what she gave In the way I speak to them And the mercy that I save [Pre-Chorus] You may ask how I do this? Oft times it's through prayer Softening me, to notice A special love so rare [Chorus] Someday when, again, I see her I hope she will approve Right now it brings, to me a tear Knowing what death cannot remove [Bridge] If love can cross the silence Then love can still remain In every quiet kindness In every spoken name [Final Chorus] Someday when, again, I see her I hope she will approve Right now it brings, to me a tear Knowing what death cannot remove

The angels whisper highly of mothers
For their heavenly work is like no others
Enduring well the hardships they carry
They make their home a sanctuary

For a woman will smile when she wants to scream
Lending to others energy to dream
Here is a tribute for all that she does
Selflessly and just because

She sings whenever she wants to cry
And believes in others when they try
She laughs at herself when she grows nervous
Yet offers strength to others for their purpose

She'll fight for the things that she believes in
And inspire others to grow from within
She'll stand up against any known injustice
And put evil thoughts and deeds on notice

Here's to Women

On a quest "no" is not the correct answer
And she knows how to get her word heard
For since a solution’s just a prayer away
She will turn to God that very day

She will go without so her family can have
And of what she has she will gladly give half
She cheers with delight for those who excel
And strengthens those whose hope has grown pale

She, with the angels, when a friend dies
Responds to tears with their own heartfelt cries
Her love can heal a tender broken heart
Such is the power her hug and kisses impart

A woman – in all her shapes, sizes, and colors
Yes... is the one who notices others
She will drive, fly, walk, and run just to reach you
Thus showing how much she ever cares, too

The heart of a woman is what keeps the world turning
Keeping joy, hope, and love continually burning
Women have vital things to say and everything to give
Here’s to good women- where ever they work, serve, and live!

mother of 7 grandmother of 13

I am an empty nest with one grandchild. I had the strangest dream last night. My husband and I were on vacation. Passing through, we went to visit one of our married children. I offered to watch the grandkids and relieve them overnight. I thought of errands to do and surprise them. We ran into friends and I invited them to dinner. I then saw something my husband could easily fix while grandkids were scrambling about. I was cooking- a lot was needing to be attended to. Having to go to the bathroom, I called out to my husband to quickly get to something in the kitchen. He called back he was equally busy. And I called back to him explaining I was using the bathroom...and woke up almost wetting the bed!
I had two revelations- I always offer my husband to help others and get too busy to use the bathroom.

Eternal Missionaries- Mother and Daughter

Mother and daughter-

In bond from the start

Their love like no other

So born of the heart

The daughter to leave

And work the Lord's vinyard

But, near the call's eve

A tragedy entered

The accident was bad

Their injuries too grave

Such the love that they had

Was this call for heaven saved?

Leaving this earth together

Knowing the daughter's call

We're certain of their new endeavor-

To serve our God with their all

Do the Best That You Can - The Influence of Righteous Women

Do the best that you can
The Lord will do the rest
Put your trust in His hand
Believe...you will be blessed

Wherever in this world you may be
The Lord knows you and listens to your prayers
He loves you and wants you to succeed
And to the seeker, He freely shares

inspired from:
Dieter F. Uchtdorf
The Influence of Righteous Women
Liahona, Sept. 2009, 2–7

"Blessings beyond Imagining
As you live up to this mission, in whatever life circumstance you find yourself—as a wife, as a mother, as a single mother, as a divorced woman, as a widowed or a single woman—the Lord our God will open up responsibilities and blessings far beyond your ability to imagine.

May I invite you to rise to the great potential within you. But don’t reach beyond your capacity. Don’t set goals beyond your capacity to achieve. Don’t feel guilty or dwell on thoughts of failure. Don’t compare yourself with others. Do the best you can, and the Lord will provide the rest. Have faith and confidence in Him, and you will see miracles happen in your life and the lives of your loved ones. The virtue of your own life will be a light to those who sit in darkness, because you are a living witness of the fulness of the gospel (see D&C 45:28). Wherever you have been planted on this beautiful but often troubled earth of ours, you can be the one to “succor the weak, lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees” (D&C 81:5).

My dear sisters, as you live your daily life with all its blessings and challenges, let me assure you that the Lord loves you. He knows you. He listens to your prayers, and He answers those prayers, wherever on this world you may be. He wants you to succeed in this life and in eternity."

Mother Mary

The emotion of a mother
Left without her son
A pain like no other
T'was more true with this one

He of humble nature
Had served all selflessly
The hope of the future
Now lay cold...breathlessly

Her life had become empty
Grown dark as the night
He'd suffered so greatly!
What could offer her light?

From humble birth without a room
He'd submitted to all that came
His body in a borrowed tomb
What would become of His good name?

She would attend to His last needs
And care for His battered body
Remembering His greatest deeds
Which He'd done for everybody

Then word came, His body was gone?
The stone had been rolled away!
He had risen along with the dawn
And, oh, the brightness of day!

What greater joy could a mother know
Than that her child will live again
Overcome with tears endless in flow
Life would go on without an end

At the Heart of the Family

At the heart of the debate
We ask, "what is rational law?"
Is it what society can tolerate
Or rather what is best for all

Children do best on every measure
When raised by their mother and father
Marriage is an institution to treasure
As it provides stability like no other

"At the heart of the debate is whether marriage as between a man and a woman benefits society and is therefore a rational law. We know the answer to those questions is undoubtedly "yes"--as well as the fact that kids do best on every measure of well-being when raised by their mom and dad. Not only do children benefit from marriage, though: couples who are married are much more likely to be healthy and financially stable."

"We fully expect that this case will eventually find its way to the U.S. Supreme Court and become a landmark case on the issue of marriage. We will continue to keep you updated on the case's progress and how it could impact your family and what your children will be taught about marriage in public schools."

"Thank you for your prayers on behalf of marriage and for our elected officials in Washington. "

For faith and family,

Tom Minnery
Senior Vice President, Government & Public Policy

He's Been There Before

He's Been There Before by Elder Troy Whittle
The alarm bell rings at 6:30, I stumble to my feet
I grab my companions bedding and pull off his sheets
A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise?
It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes

The morning activities follow- study, prayer and such
When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't accomplished much
"We have a super day planned," My comp. says with a grin
I lowly utter a faithless breath, "Yeah, if anyone lets us in."

With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street prepared to
Face another day of humidity and heat
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through
My champion and I are riding home not accomplishing what we thought to do

We ride up to the mailbox, hoping to receive a lot
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air Box"
We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete
The only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet

It's past 10:30 p.m. My companion is fast asleep,
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep
In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray
I need to talk to father, but I'm not sure what to say

"Oh, Father" I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away
My hands, my aching hands- worn, hurt and beat;
If our area was any smaller, we'd have knocked every street"

"Why on missions are the days so much alike?
The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike
Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes, it's very hard to see"

"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough?
People always laugh at me, and call me stupid stuff
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack
I want to give them Books of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back"

"And what about my family: They don't have much to say
I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day after day
Oh Father, Why am I here am I just wasting time?
Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind"

"My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?
"The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see
Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you"

My prayer now finished, I stand up, then jump right into bed
I need my rest for tomorrow, we have another long day ahead
Sleep start to overtake me, I seem to drift away
Then it seems a vision takes me to another time in another day

I'm standing alone on the hill. The view is very nice
A man walks to wards me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ"
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet
"Arise," He states, "Follow me to the shade. You and I need to speak"

My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete
He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me
I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through
In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you"

"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you
At times I felt not quite sure what else I could do
I know you don't like to ride a bicycle, for you a car would be sweet
Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds"

"I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something you hate
I remember when I sweat blood from ev’ry pore, oh the agony was great!
I see you don't like your companion- you'd rather have someone else-
I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth"

"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you
I remember when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back"

"Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking on doors all day
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way
It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me"
He embraced me with His arms and His light filled me with His love
With tears in my eyes I watched as He went back to the Father above

I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head
I listened and heard the alarm, then realized I was in my bed
My companion let out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

No matter what we go through, when we feel we can't take more
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ, He's been there before

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

These poems are my own thoughts and impressions as I study the gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints

I encourage you to read from the Book of Mormon and the standard works, and listen to modern day prophets, also, that your mind and heart might be touched.
