The stripling warriors

At best they were juniors
But their devotion was grand

What Has God Done For You?

Make Your Way to Him- A Rip Tide Lesson

Boogie Boarding- the day was great

I eyed each oncoming wave

I did not know my situation was grave

I just assumed I was safe

The next thing I knew- a life guard

Said, "Grab the buoy, I'll tow you to safety"

He explained I was in a rip tide

I told him I could swim on my own, safely

But, the current wore out my strength

I was going further out to sea

I stretched my arms out and reached at length

Crying "lifeguard, you're right! Save me!

He knew something, I did not

You can't fight this kind of current,

Sight the shore and swim parallel

For the rip is deceptively swift

Pride caught, unaware, I'd been drifting

I learned something great from this lesson

Listen to the trained voice of reason

Inspired words are our greatest blessings

Endure the narrow path to Heaven
Listen. Life offers us storms
Continually pray for strength within
Heed, with faith, the Savior restores

We had ward conference and Bishop Fairbanks shared this experience from his youth. I am thankful for lifeguards!  SUNO translated my words into a song.  Very different, but heading the same direction. 

By the way, my bishop said to focus on 5 things that bring us to safety.

pray continually

keep the commandments

give service

He challenged us to pick one to improve upon and ponder as we prepare for the coming General Conference.

Faith in Jesus Christ

The genesis of a human body

I think someone can become more dependent on evidence for the Book of Mormon and then, as a result, spend less time in the Book of Mormon. But the Lord doesn’t want us convinced. He asks us to choose to be converted. Evidence convinces. The text converts.

Evidence doesn’t convert. The text does. Look at Laman and Lemuel. They saw a literal angel sent by God. They never doubted what they saw. They simply refused to obey. Their hearts weren’t turned toward God, so seeing wasn’t believing. We are accountable for the knowledge we receive. That’s why God, in His mercy, lets us walk by faith instead of perfect knowledge. The more we know, the more we’re responsible for. Truth comes line upon line as we keep the commandments. The precepts in the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon, draw us near to God. All the external evidence in the world won’t turn us into faithful disciples. Just look at the Bible: mountains of evidence, yet not everyone becomes a Christian. Seeing isn’t believing. That’s why the scriptures say, “He that hath eyes to see, let him see; and he that hath ears to hear, let him hear.” Spiritual blindness and deafness are real, even when the evidence is staring us in the face.

Spiritual conversion is more powerful than physical evidence. Reminds me of the battle of Jericho. The Israelites destroyed the walls using the power of God and not the power of the flesh.
