On an unmarked path bent for mayhem
With a well-planned plot of persecution
In brilliant white, an angel stopped them
And announced this was an intervention
Due to the prayers of members they'd attacked
And of his father's, the prophet!
how his pricked heart doubly hurt!
His eyes grew in fear. With his mouth agape, he fell back
As he was asked, "Why do you persecute the church?"
Yes the prayers of many and the many prayers of just one
Are heard, and angels can be sent by the Son
And his friends, his followers
The sons of the king
They carried Alma the Younger back
Unconscious, sleeping
Marveling, wondering
Alma the Younger was in quite a state
Reliving all he had done to persecute
All he had caused to join him and deviate
This tormented he saw himself of ill refute
And he repented avowed to make up for all of his hate
Yes the prayers of many and the many prayers of just one
Are heard, and angels can be sent by the Son
He recalled all he had learned in his youth
And that he had acted in open rebellion
For days he lay their unable to speak or move
And vowed he would never again be a hellion
He prayed for mercy feeling encircled
by the everlasting chains of death
Light shown about and he saw multitudes
That needed to be taught and invited to be born again
Redeemed of their carnal state and he was invited too!
Yes the prayers of many and the many prayers of just one
Are heard, and angels can be sent by the Son
Yes the prayers of the repentant, too, are heard and answered by God
And snatched from the everlasting chains of death
To be forgiven, redeemed and born of God
Then he awoke and stood and testified of what he had seen and heard
And went to preach the gospel to one and all
Yes the prayers of many and the many prayers of just one
Are heard, and angels can be sent by the Son
Yes the prayers of the repentant, too, are heard and answered by God
