Near Bethlehem is found the Wadi Kelt
Here perhaps David wrote down the prayer he felt
As he knelt at the valley of the shadow of death
In a gorge or canyon where thieves and predators thread
Did he say this prayer because he was in need?
Did he wonder all night where troubles might lead?
Was his faith fixed and steadfast by the dawn of day?
Did he know how much we'd need his prayer today?
We each walk from the pastures of plenty, so green
Through the dark passages made unknown by fear
Here to remain hopeful for the future, unseen
Till mercifully, living wells of water appear
Then...know, with you, Jesus walked that lonely path too
To suffer the darkest day that could be
He bore in pain every evil man can do
This He did to restore both you and me
