How did clouds get their names? - Richard Hamblyn

His head was in the clouds

Dreaming of each name

How of the earth they shroud

To rise then fall, a game

Look For The Good

Look for the good
Fight for it, too
With gratitude
Fill it in you

Frodo:
“What are we holding on to, Sam?”

Sam:
“That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.”

Philoteknos Mother Love

Philoteknos, meaning mother love,
Is given to women from Heaven above
Her nurturing care and tender hands tutor
And point a child to a Christ-like future

Question: "What does the Bible say about Christian mothers?"

http://www.gotquestions.org/mothers-Christian.html
"What does the Bible say about Christian mothers?" Got Questions Ministries, n.d. Web.

Answer: Being a mother is a very important role that the Lord chooses to give to many women. A Christian mother is told to love her children (Titus 2:4-5), in part so that she does not bring reproach on the Lord and on the Savior whose name she bears.

Children are a gift from the Lord (Psalm 127:3-5). In Titus 2:4, the Greek word philoteknos appears in reference to mothers loving their children. This word represents a special kind of “mother love.” The idea that flows out of this word is that of caring for our children, nurturing them, affectionately embracing them, meeting their needs, and tenderly befriending each one as a unique gift from the hand of God.

Several things are commanded of Christian mothers in God’s Word:
Availability – morning, noon, and night (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)
Involvement – interacting, discussing, thinking, and processing life together (Ephesians 6:4)
Teaching – the Scriptures and a biblical worldview (Psalm 78:5-6; Deuteronomy 4:10; Ephesians 6:4)
Training – helping a child to develop skills and discover his/her strengths (Proverbs 22:6) and spiritual gifts (Romans 12:3-8 and 1 Corinthians 12)
Discipline – teaching the fear of the Lord, drawing the line consistently, lovingly, firmly (Ephesians 6:4; Hebrews 12:5-11; Proverbs 13:24; 19:18; 22:15; 23:13-14; 29:15-17)
Nurture – providing an environment of constant verbal support, freedom to fail, acceptance, affection, unconditional love (Titus 2:4; 2 Timothy 1:7; Ephesians 4:29-32; 5:1-2; Galatians 5:22; 1 Peter 3:8-9)
Modeling with Integrity – living what you say, being a model from which a child can learn by “catching” the essence of godly living (Deuteronomy 4:9, 15, 23; Proverbs 10:9; 11:3; Psalm 37:18, 37).

The Constant Stream of Pages

The constant stream of pages
Like a spring of truth in flow
Shed light on the dark ages
All could drink now from it and know

https://www.museumofthebible.org/sites/default/files/downloads/TheBibleInAmerica.pdf?bina15
It is only a press, but a press from which will flow a constant stream… Through it, God will spread His Word. A spring of truth will flow from it. Like a new star it will scatter the darkness of ignorance and cause an unknown light to shine for all.

Gutenberg would not financially benefit from his work, however. His financier, Johann Fust, foreclosed on Gutenberg and seized all of his assets and equipment. Fust then hired one of Gutenberg's trained assistants and went on to be one of the most successful printers of the era. Gutenberg died forgotten and alone in a debtor’s prison.

No One is Destined to Fail

No one is destined to fail
It's okay to be different
Let what is inside of you swell
That bit of Heavenly imprint

I love this beautiful message.  Sometimes I feel I am outside of the acceptable different.
Every person is different and has a different contribution to make. No one is destined to fail.

Tomorrow the Lord Will Do Wonders among You

Keep that love which thrills you
To the center of your soul!
Christ's light ever shines through
Seeds of service that you sew!

The Lord is going to do Wonders among you!!!

The Lord will do wonders among you,
Prepare and believe on that day.
Though there may be rivers to cross through,
Trust in Him to open a way!

Retain a Youthful State of Mind

Retain a youthful state of mind
Belief and wonder you will find
See the world through the Light of Christ
And add a sparkle to your eyes

Truly, who has time to grow old
When life promises much to hold?
Share your dreams with each sunrise
Be the one to say, "surprise!"

“Whether sixty or sixteen, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonder, the unfailing child-like appetite of what’s next, and the joy of the game of living. Christmas is a State of Mind

Matthew 2:1–2, 7–10, The Wise Men on their journey
Christmas is a state of mind
That is ever sweet to find
Open your heart and believe
His pure love will never leave

Cherish peace and goodwill
Feel a joy that is real
Wrap yourself in His light
How He makes the world right!

Keep Trying

Privilege Beyond Price

Privilege beyond price
Guidance from Heaven
Each year it comes twice
At conference, given

Pray, make the effort
To receive insight
Servants of the Lord
Will offer His Light

In general conference twice a year, we are blessed with the opportunity to hear the word of the Lord for us from His servants. That is a privilege beyond price. But the value of that opportunity depends on whether we receive the words under the influence of the same Spirit by which they were given to those servants (see D&C 50:19–22). Just as they receive guidance from heaven, so must we. And that requires of us the same spiritual effort.

For the Best

Every prayer is heard
Each in the best way
And quickly answered
To bless in some way
The answer may be, "Wait"
"Trust on" or even, "No"
Listen, exercise faith
And pray you'll see and know
Zacharias and Elisabeth are a good example of this. This poem was inspired by Primary 2 lesson 18

The Sweetness of the Spirit

The sweetness of the Spirit
Purely fills the soul with love
Joy warms the heart, to near It

SIGNS OF THE END PART 160 - LATEST EVENTS APRIL 2016

I got involved with watching this video.  One part discussed abortion and was interviewing women on both sides.  I loved what one said.  We will go to war to protect lives and freedom but some women will not lay down their lives for nine months to protect the life of their unborn child, which they then can put up for adoption.

Can you lay down your life,
For just nine months?
Let the babe stay alive.
Think of his wants!

Adoption is a beautiful thing!

A Point and Time

A thick layer of gray clouds spread out over the ocean, with sun rays breaking through a hole in the clouds. There will come a point and time
Where you will want to know for yourself

But, you'll find strength from the Lord

I'm reading from a book by Mark Waldman.  He says write it all down.  Many of the negative emotions are from way in the past and keep coming to the surface with new situations.  You have to keep this list as a visual and the emotions tied to the experiences start to diminish into life's lessons.

Heavenly Power in Reading the Scriptures

Heavenly power will come as you work hard
to open the scriptures to your heart.
You will receive a special witness
Once again that the Lord is with us.
I found the inspiration for this at Elder Henry B Eyring's Facebook page. He keeps a color-coded list of topics in his scriptures - those that help him further his call as a special witness of Christ.

Captivate and Cultivate

I pray my teaching will captivate
And inspire the mind to cultivate
Thoughts that touch the heart for good
And spread feelings of gratitude

Paused Out

Forgetful, sometimes we put God on pause.

Harried and uncentered we can lose our way.

But, return to prayer for a righteous cause!

We are His agents on His errand, today!

Here to Serve a Righteous Cause

"We all experience times and seasons in our lives. But whether we are at school, at work, in the community, or especially in the home, we are the Lord’s agents and we are on His errand."

—Carol F. McConkie, "Here to Serve a Righteous Cause"

har·ried
ˈharēd/ adjective

feeling strained as a result of having demands persistently made on one; harassed.
"harried reporters are frequently forced to invent what they cannot find out"

I Love You More

When you smile at me like you did today
My heart lights up inside
All troubles flee and the cares go away
I'm so blessed that you're my bride

You're more beautiful than the day we met
And more so every year
Our love is something we'll never regret
How I cherish you, my dear

My husband found this poem he wrote for me a while back.  And he came and read it to me.  He was cleaning his office and I was cleaning my walk in closet that has crates for Christmas and holidays in it.  I turned around to get back to it and there were scorpions all over the floor... His Halloween decorations that he'd found in the office.  What fun!

Sustaining Vote

Your sustaining hand that you raise
Is a symbol of faith and praise
God offers light to those who yearn
Then our degree of faith we return

That voice of dissent was heard
Not just once twice but a third
Each hand rises up to confirm
The degree to God that we turn

pondering my reaction as well as others to #ldsconf

Yes, but a dissenting voice always reinforces to me that this is a recurring, conscious choice.

Stay on the Path

Stay on the path
Endure and be strong
You have a task
With God, you belong
Sometimes you feel like you're a mess and you need encouragement.

That Bitter Cup

Jesus drank from that bitter cup
Which our Father gave to Him
To the dregs, He drank it up
Of our sins, He paid for them

It pressed Him so, that He bled
From His very pores, out it came
And the unrepentant, He said
Will, some day, have to do the same

They will have an awful view
Of their guilt and of the Atonement
And withdraw from the Lord, too
Into a state of endless torment

Christ has drunk out of bitter cup which the Father gave him: 3 Ne. 11:11 .

Mosiah 3: 23 And now I have spoken the words which the Lord God hath commanded me.

24 And thus saith the Lord: They shall stand as a bright testimony against this people, at the judgment day; whereof they shall be judged, every man according to his works, whether they be good, or whether they be evil.

25 And if they be evil they are consigned to an awful view of their own guilt and abominations, which doth cause them to shrink from the presence of the Lord into a state of misery and endless torment, from whence they can no more return; therefore they have drunk damnation to their own souls.

26 Therefore, they have drunk out of the cup of the wrath of God, which justice could no more deny unto them than it could deny that Adam should fall because of his partaking of the forbidden fruit; therefore, mercy could have claim on them no more forever.

27 And their torment is as a lake of fire and brimstone, whose flames are unquenchable, and whose smoke ascendeth up forever and ever. Thus hath the Lord commanded me. Amen.

Oppression

In mismanaged leadership
There will come oppression
Understand your stewardship
And seek out God's direction
For then you are found humble
In but service to fill a need
And when there is a trouble
The spirit is there to lead

The Box

We tend to put people in a box
That is quite a distance away.
Those who complain, lie, argue, or boss
Of our light, they stand in the way.

Look Heavenly

Look Heavenly
With every thought
Through eyes that see,
The spirit's taught.

Matthew 13:

15 For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

The Captain of the Soul- Invictus/ The Soul's Captain by Elder Orson F. Whitney

Invictus by William E. Henley
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance,
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

The Soul's Captain [The Answer]
by Elder Orson F. Whitney
of the Quorum of the Twelve
Art thou in truth? Then what of him
Who bought thee with his blood?
Who plunged into devouring seas
And snatched thee from the flood?
Who bore for all our fallen race
What none but him could bear.
The God who died that man might live,
And endless glory share?
Of what avail thy vaunted strength,
Apart from his vast might?
Pray that his Light may pierce the gloom,
That thou mayest see aright.
Men are as bubbles on the wave,
As leaves upon the tree.
Thou, captain of thy soul, forsooth
Who gave that place to thee?
Free will is thine — free agency
To wield for right or wrong;
But thou must answer unto him
To whom all souls belong.
Bend to the dust that head "unbowed,"
Small part of Life's great whole!
And see in him, and him alone,
The Captain of thy soul

He's Been There Before

He's Been There Before by Elder Troy Whittle
The alarm bell rings at 6:30, I stumble to my feet
I grab my companions bedding and pull off his sheets
A groan fills the room, is it already time to arise?
It seems like just a second ago I was able to shut my eyes

The morning activities follow- study, prayer and such
When it's time to leave the apartment, you feel you haven't accomplished much
"We have a super day planned," My comp. says with a grin
I lowly utter a faithless breath, "Yeah, if anyone lets us in."

With the word of God and my faithful Schwinn, we ride off in the street prepared to
Face another day of humidity and heat
It's 9:30 in the evening, the day is almost through
My champion and I are riding home not accomplishing what we thought to do

We ride up to the mailbox, hoping to receive a lot
Only to look inside and hear my echo reverberate "air Box"
We go up to our apartment, the day is now complete
The only thing to show for our work is a case of blistery feet

It's past 10:30 p.m. My companion is fast asleep,
Silence engulfs me all about and I begin to weep
In the midst of sadness, I kneel down to pray
I need to talk to father, but I'm not sure what to say

"Oh, Father" I begin, "What happened to us today?
I thought we'd teach somebody, but everyone was away
My hands, my aching hands- worn, hurt and beat;
If our area was any smaller, we'd have knocked every street"

"Why on missions are the days so much alike?
The only difference about today was the flat tire on my bike
Will you send some cooler weather? The heat is killing me
I sweat so bad, it gets in my eyes, it's very hard to see"

"Why do I have to wear a helmet, isn't your protection enough?
People always laugh at me, and call me stupid stuff
Please send us investigators so I may give them what they lack
I want to give them Books of Mormon, the weight of them hurts my back"

"And what about my family: They don't have much to say
I'm sick of not hearing from home day after day after day
Oh Father, Why am I here am I just wasting time?
Sometimes I just want to go home, I'm sorry but that's on my mind"

"My companion, Heavenly Father, what are you giving me?
"The way he rides his bicycle, I don't think he can see
Now you have it, I can't go on, I don't know what to do
That, my Father in Heaven, is the prayer I have for you"

My prayer now finished, I stand up, then jump right into bed
I need my rest for tomorrow, we have another long day ahead
Sleep start to overtake me, I seem to drift away
Then it seems a vision takes me to another time in another day

I'm standing alone on the hill. The view is very nice
A man walks to wards me and says, "My name is Jesus Christ"
Tears of joy well up inside, I fall down to His feet
"Arise," He states, "Follow me to the shade. You and I need to speak"

My attention's towards my Savior, total and complete
He says, "Your mission is similar of what happened to me
I understand how you feel, I know what you're going through
In fact, it would be fair to say I've felt the same as you"

"I even know how you felt when no one listened to you
At times I felt not quite sure what else I could do
I know you don't like to ride a bicycle, for you a car would be sweet
Just remember the donkey I rode wasn't equipped with 21 speeds"

"I understand you don't like sweating, in fact it's something you hate
I remember when I sweat blood from ev’ry pore, oh the agony was great!
I see you don't like your companion- you'd rather have someone else-
I once had a companion named Judas who sold my life for wealth"

"It's hard to wear a helmet and have people make fun of you
I remember when they put thorns on my head and called me King of the Jews
So you feel burdened down by the weight of your pack
I recall how heavy the cross was when they slammed it on my back"

"Your hands hurt from tracting and knocking on doors all day
I guess when they pounded nails into mine, I ached in a similar way
It's hard not to hear from home when your family's not there to see
I lost communication on the cross and cried, "Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

"We have a lot in common, but there's a difference between us you see
I endured to the end and finished my mission, so follow and do like me"
He embraced me with His arms and His light filled me with His love
With tears in my eyes I watched as He went back to the Father above

I stood with awe and wonder when a beep rang in my head
I listened and heard the alarm, then realized I was in my bed
My companion let out a groan, "6:30 already, no way!"
I sat up and said, "Come on, I'll even carry your scriptures today!"

No matter what we go through, when we feel we can't take more
Just stop and think about Jesus Christ, He's been there before
