What Now For Joseph? Isaiah 53: 9 Joseph of Arimathea and the Tomb

Watching the cross six hours
The last three in the dark
Continually thinking
"Do not cower!
Not now, for time is shrinking"

He'd no part
The Sanhedrin
From the start
Wanted Christ's end

He'd not been there
The votes were cast
No consent to share
He prayed, his agony would pass

Then the blanket of darkness
The earthquake, the signs were here
Now Jesus was dead
He watched the spear

[Pre-Chorus] Boldly, he ran To the praetorium near Courage in the face Of grave danger No time! He must race Risking the Sanhedrin's anger He arrived, "dead" he panted, So soon? Six hours a surprise! Permission ...granted He was authorized [Chorus] What now for Joseph? He'd found his courage What now for Joseph? This time he would prove

What now for Joseph? Offering his tomb? What now for Joseph? Three hours- he must move!

[Verse 2]
Jesus' body was his
To take to the tomb
The centurions
Lowered him down

They removed the nails
Nicodemus came
With myrrh and aloe
And the burial linen

They'd enough spices
For a royal king
They dressed all His wounds
And wrapped Him carefully

Then, as it was the custom
They tied the face cloth under his chin
And left after rolling the stone in front
They rushed for at sundown, the Sabbath begins

[Pre-Chorus] The Sanhedrin plotted The problem of Jesus was not over Guards would make sure That He rotted And the tomb's owner must not take cover What now for Joseph? Touching the crucified made him unclean Politically marked Socially isolated His arrest, soon...perhaps in the dark? [Bridge] Whatever time it was Nicodemus wrote this truth: "He was miraculously released" His escape was the proof Give much thanks for Joseph He a wealthy man Gave Christ his burial tomb And fulfilled prophecy [Chorus] What now for Joseph? To walk away from status? What now for Joseph? On Sunday, he moved What now for Joseph? Arimathea? What now for Joseph? He'd stood and he'd proved [Outro] Oh, but not for long For the stone was rolled away Angels shook the ground Jesus was resurrected Sunday! Now what could the Sanhedrin say? Yes, the Saints, they'd make them pay!

Isaiah 53:9: This verse states that the Messiah would be buried with the rich, which is fulfilled by Jesus being laid in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, a wealthy man
