The Lord's Prayer

The Lord has taught us how to pray
With set patterns for what to say
Of this, the prophets have written
And given that we might search within

First, we address Heavenly Father
With reverence, in meekness proper
Then, with vows to submit to His will
We pray for each blessing to fulfill

Too, we've cries and pleas for safety
As temptations lead us to swaying
Such that we're humble to forgive
To be found without sin's motive

As, too we pray out of hunger
We ask for nourishment to linger
That we be strengthened and fed
To be spiritually and physically led

And such that bread gives us life
We pray to receive the spirit of Christ
And, have His name placed upon us
While we also pray in His name, thus

Then, as even the Savior ended with amen
We close the same, thinking of God in heaven
This acknowledges His great power and glory
That He is the author and finisher of life's story

Matthew 6: 9-13
After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
