We get depressed and Satan Steps In

We get depressed and Satan steps in
To impress us with longings to sin
Then, it's a downward spiral we cannot win

For we learn to escape and ignor
We become pride-filled, self-centered, and more
As the good things of life now but bore

When we're choosing what's wrong, where is the joy?
Where is the strongest feelings between a girl and boy?
Where is the laughter that lifts and delights-
And raises us up to enjoy the clearer sight?

Where is the peace in slumber that drifts along?
How do we ever really know where we belong?
Whom can we trust to have a listening ear?
Who has quiet whisperings that can calm our fears?

Without love for God, there's endless need
There's an emptiness one cannot feed
We can't substitute it for anything
For it's what causes our spirits to sing

When we're depressed it's as spiritual death
It's a pain enclosing that knows not rest
When we open our hearts to possibilities
We find our minds quickened with new abilities
