In Pursuit of Happiness

What e'er our life's pursuit
For happiness, we shoot
Some people think that when
We are depressed, we sin

If we are not careful
No one will be cheerful
For this conception
Is a misconception

(Is this how our God lives
In constant state of bliss?
As He does anything
And wants more of nothing?)

Then we're in denial
We grow through each trial
When we feel we're distressed
That's when the mind's impressed !

To be the sole wealthy
Can that be so healthy?
To have it all in looks,
Are there not talon's hooks?

Those who get their demands
Oft stand on shallow sands
Those centered on themselves
Have they in their hearts delved?

The selfless exhausted
Are oft with love frosted
And those who're generous
Aren't so cantankerous

Those with inner beauty
Are they kind or snooty?
God's Word tells what to seek
To be child-like and meek

May our hearts swell up wide
To feel all, and not hide
May our heart and bowels yearn
That our bosom might burn

When we've God's perspective
We'll be introspective
We'll be anxious to please
Unto the "least of these"

Anxious to extend joy
To every girl and boy
That they might know of God
And weep without facade

Our Father is perfect
And His laws are correct
He's for mind and for heart
When gloom rains, what will start?

Joy and Anguish

Moses 7: 28-29

28 And it came to pass that the God of heaven
looked upon the residue of the people,
and he wept; and Enoch bore record of it, saying:
How is it that the heavens weep, and shed forth
their tears as the rain upon the mountains?

29 And Enoch said unto the Lord: How is it that
thou canst weep, seeing thou art holy, and from
all eternity to all eternity?

Moses 7: 41

41 And it came to pass that the Lord spake
unto Enoch, and told Enoch all the doings
of the children of men; wherefore Enoch knew,
and looked upon their wickedness, and their misery,
and wept and stretched forth his arms, and his heart
swelled wide as eternity; and his bowels yearned;
and all eternity shook.

Moses 7: 67

67 And the Lord showed Enoch all things,
even unto the end of the world; and he saw the day
of the righteous, the hour of their redemption, and
received a fulness of joy;
