Precious Words From Jacob

Precious words from Jacob
Were treasured then revealed.
The men of his people
Were in the spacious field.
Bound to clouded doctrines.
Indulging as they reeled.

Nephite men had hardened,
Desiring second wives.
For their gold and silver
soon lifted up their pride.
They forgot their covenants,
And greed was in their eyes.

For the wives and children
With tender wounded souls,
The men must set aside
Searching for wives and gold.
Jacob called them to repent.
His warnings were so bold:

God sees and hears wive's cries
Caused by the sins you do.
The sobbings of their hearts
Ascend to God against you.
Repent, lest His piercing eye
Does send daggers to dust you.

In a Day of Bitter and Sweet

In a day where sweet is bitter
and bitter is sweet,
Mankind needs to be more holy
and not take to strong drink.

The Lord's vineyard has been planted
on a fruitful hill.
With the choicest of grafted vines
That's been cared for with skill.

We, too, grow a young seedling
Nurtured from a seed.
Through faith that promotes actions
We've precious fruit that's sweet.

Evil is not good. It is dark,
And so is its fruit.
Soon what's bitter and rotten
May poison to the root.

The bitter fruit tastes very bad
To those with sweet food.
Wo to them who find bitter sweet
When they have what is good.

The Lord's vineyard has been grafted
To preserve each root.
Each bitter branch will be cast off
And soon burned into soot.

He has grieved much as He's labored.
Trying everything.
As the Lord grafts for the last time.
More servants, He will bring.

Isa. 5: 20, 2 Ne. 15: 20
Wo unto them that call evil good, and good evil,
that put darkness for light, and light for darkness,
that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

To Those Known As Ex-Mormons

To those known as ex-Mormons
(We have all known one or two)
Please lay aside aversions
There's a new Saint inside you

Come back, you're as a temple
There's healing balm- just for you
One small change makes a ripple
From one step- miracles view

A Call to All The Inactives!

A call to all the inactives,
It is time to return home.
Know what's inside you lives.
You've a place from which you've flown.

We'll leave our doors wide open
And await for your return.
Your name's been here engraven,
Since the Holy Ghost had burned.

A second chance goes two ways.
Together let's try again.
We can cleanse what stains in grays.
With the Spirit that's our friend.

Reconcile to the straight path.
Where there's riches more in store.
Soon with all the Father hath.
We'll enjoy forever more!

Jackmormons and inactives are names of the past.
You are a Saint- A name, through change, does last!

Scriptures Written in Weakness

Scriptures written in weakness
Help God's people become strong.
The words persuade to goodness-
To Christ, where we endure long.

Scriptures written speak harshness,
With the plainness of the truth.
They call man to repent lest
They forget whom they lean to.

The writings of the prophets
Are heard crying from the dust.
"Please read and heed these tablets."
For Christ, we can and we must!

2 Nephi 33:13,
And now, my beloved brethren, all
those who are of the house of Israel,
and all ye ends of the earth, I speak
unto you as the voice of one crying
from the dust: Farewell until that
great day shall come.

With a long glance in the rear view mirror,

With a long glance in the rear view mirror,
I think how I've been so defective.
To the Father, Humbly, I plead in prayer.
I long for His love and perspective.

He knows of my shortcomings and despair,
The things which easily beset me.
And for what I need best, He is aware.
I will follow His paths to safety.

How far from sin will be a safe distance?.
My life has missed the best scenery.
I want joy in life, not just existence.
I want vistas and to see clearly.

My Savior, all alone, through His suffering
Knows of the darkness of my despair.
How can I not receive what He's offering?
A second chance, a life with repair.

My Sister's Heart Has Broke in Two

My sister's heart has broke in two.
Now, what am I supposed to do?
Be her friend and give her a call.
Give service no matter how small.
When I pray- I know what to say
To share my light and brighten her day.

Hearken, There Is More!

Wo to the wise, the learned, and the rich
There's pride in their hearts and their ears do itch
Wo to those who turn aside and revile
Those fully ripe have dark works and live wild
Some hearts are enraged and others pacified
Flattered by the devil, yet of whom they've denied

--------------------------------------------

His arm is lengthened out all the day long.
Who'll receive the word of God, with a glad song?
To those who learn wisdom, He will give more.
To the righteous, there are great things in store.
Line upon line, and precept upon precept.
Till His laws are obeyed and counsels are kept.

2 Nephi 28

Out of the Mouths of Three Witnesses

Isaiah's words were poetic,
With visions hidden and prophetic.
He saw the scattering Israel.
He called our Lord's name- Immanuel.
To be born of a virgin (the sign),
To give blood for our sins and die.
Then, to swallow up death and arise!

Isaiah was read by Nephi,
And Jacob- their words testify.
They had visions of our Savior.
Who'd pay the infinite favor.
Then, risen- He would manifest
To the Holy Lands and the West.
The Book of Mormon tells the rest!

The mouths of three give witness,
God's words reveal, then establish-
In the form of holy scripture.
And, guide the paths for man's future.
In our day, are we ignored?
No, we've the truth- It's been restored.
And, we've Mormon's ancient record!

Be it known unto all nations.
Irregardless of their stations.
Through the grace of God, and our Lord,
That three have seen the plates record.
Cowdery, Whitmer, and Harris.
They bore record, with soberness.
They saw what's golden and marvelous!

An angel came down from heaven
To show the plates were engraven.
Twas translated through God's power.
From the days of Babel's tower-
To those who'd left Jerusalem.
Their words restored, we'll learn from them-
To honor the Godhead. Amen!

Nephi risked his life to get the words of Isaiah.
He saw the wisdom in this when he saw their downfall
of the people from the tower of Babel's day-
who took with them no scriptures, and they soon did fall.

Isa. 7: 14, 2 Ne. 17: 14
14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you
a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and
bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel
.

2 Nephi 11
2 And now I, Nephi, write more of the words
of Isaiah, for my soul delighteth in his words.
For I will liken his words unto my people,
and I will send them forth unto all my children,
for he verily saw my Redeemer, even as I have
seen him.
3 And my brother, Jacob, also has seen him as
I have seen him; wherefore, I will send their
words forth unto my children to prove unto them
that my words are true. Wherefore, by the words
of three, God hath said, I will establish my word.
Nevertheless, God sendeth more witnesses, and he
proveth all his words.

With Healing in His Wings

With healing in His wings
And tender mercy, too;
Our Lord, our King of Kings
Helps us with His works to do.

Those suffering are in need
Of faith and hope and trust.
We'll nourish and we'll feed-
Who'll lift them from the dust?

With power over death
He helped the dead to rise.
He gives all living breath
And, He opens up our eyes.

He shows us those who've less.
Who sorrow heavy lade.
In Christ's name, we will bless.
As healing wings lift and aid.

Mal. 4: 2
2 ¶ But unto you that fear my name shall
the Sun of righteousness arise with healing
in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow
up as calves of the stall.
2 Ne. 25: 13
13 Behold, they will crucify him; and after
he is laid in a sepulchre for the space of
three days he shall rise from the dead, with
healing in his wings; and all those who shall
believe on his name shall be saved in the
kingdom of God. Wherefore, my soul delighteth
to prophesy concerning him, for I have seen
his day, and my heart doth magnify his holy name.

I Know

I know I'm a child of God.
I know I'm peculiarly odd.
I'm striving my best to be.
Christ-like, I know who most helps me.

Here on earth, I've much to learn.
I'll work hard, thankful- it's my turn.
I will pray to find my way.
With Christ's Light, I will shine today.

In the Millennial Day

With joy I'll draw from the water,
Out of the wells of salvation.
In thanks, only good I'll utter-
Singing praise and adoration.

His excellent deeds show his care.
They will be known to all the earth.
His exaltation I'll declare.
As I feast on our Lord's splendor.

2 Nephi 22
1 And in that day thou shalt say: O Lord,
I will praise thee; though thou wast angry
with me thine anger is turned away, and thou
comfortedest me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust,
and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my
strength and my song; he also has become my
salvation.
3 Therefore, with joy shall ye draw water
out of the wells of salvation.
4 And in that day shall ye say: Praise the Lord,
call upon his name, declare his doings among the
people, make mention that his name is exalted.
5 Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done
excellent things; this is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion;
for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst
of thee.

His Hand is Stretched Out Still

Let there be signs and wonders-
Those in shadow receive light.
In Isaiah, one ponders,
And through prophecy receives sight.
The gathering is according to God's will.
As He extends mercy and assurance.
His softly flowing waters fill,
Ever offering hope and guidance.
Where e'er we turn, His hand is stretched out still.

--------------------------------------

Let there be signs as warnings-
Those in shadow avoid light.
Soon, to holes they'll be swarming-
When there's prophecy- one can't fight.
Irregardless, the gathering will fulfill.
There's a rock of stumbling and offense,
As rivers overflow and fill.
Judgments come, there's no avoidance.
Where e'er we turn, His hand is stretched out still.

-Isaiah 8
6 Forasmuch as this people refuseth the waters
of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in
Rezin and Remaliah’s son;
7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth
up upon them the waters of the river, strong
and many, even the king of Assyria, and all
his glory: and he shall come up over all his
channels, and go over all his banks:
14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a
stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence
to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and
for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

Isaiah 9
12 ...For all this his anger is not turned
away, but his hand is stretched out still.

A Servant of the Lord

Dear Don H. Staheli,

A servant of the Lord
Quietly, Christ adored.
Who recalls him or his name?
Where he went or from where he came?
The things he saw, the things he heard-
Carefully, he wrote down every word.
Who will read the words he wrote?
Who remembered to thank him with a note?

-thank you

President Hinckley's secretary surely
was a busy servant. I pleasantly
discovered that Don H. Staheli is
not so obscure after all and is an
author.

I Am Many Things to the Lord

I am as a rock unpolished and coarse.
And, I fall and tumble while I'm on my course.
The descent is steep, what am I to do?
Rough edges break off, I'll soon be made smooth.
There is a straight path, here now I must stay.
I know where to roll, it's the narrow way.
1 Nephi 21:2

I am as a bride- My Lord is the groom.
And as the date nears- I've oil in my room.
My prepared lamp burns, in the darkest night.
As I add more oil- one drop at a time.
The grooms paid my debt, and He's done much more!
We'll soon be married- that's what I live for.

I am as a lamb- cared for in His flock.
When I go astray, I've not far to walk.
I miss my Shepherd and I heed his call.
I'm known by His name, though I'm stained and small.
When the clouds darken and a storm descends,
My Shepherd saves me- to safety He sends.

Blessings of the Restoration

Early in the spring
Of eighteen hundred and twenty,
With light descending
Joseph learned of love and mercy.

Through his study and prayer
We've come to faith in Christ.
Thus, we can declare,
Joseph Smith's vision blesses lives.

This testimony
Comes as an universal gift.
With matchless bounty
And encircling love that uplifts.

Humbly and with faith,
We can know for ourselves this truth.
Others show the way,
Enlarging our souls and mind, too.

Joseph, we honor
For his great faith and heart of gold.
We, too, won't cower-
Speaking from our hearts, we'll be bold.

We Testify of Jesus Christ

Unspeakable pain...
Incomprehensible love...
Lord Omnipotent, His name,
Our Savior above.
Two millenia ago
He condescended.
He gave His life, that we'll know
He lives, who is resplendent-
In sunshine and in shadow.

Like the Polar Star,
Jesus is our sure anchor.
When lost we need not look far.
He's our focus, strength and more.
He has shown us worth.
Of one thing there's certainty
None so great has walked the earth!
He, who for eternity,
Has assured us of rebirth.

In Sin I Groan

In sin, I groan
As I'm encompassed about.
Though I've afflictions and doubt,
I don't feel alone.

Humbly in prayer
As I'm prompted- there's promise,
I will not ask Him amiss.
And, my God is there.

My soul delights
In the goodness of the Lord.
As I read, pray and record,
I find new insights.

Why should I weep
In the valley of sorrow?
There's bright hope in tomorrow.
Where I'll feel at peace.

Though sad I walk
In the valley that is low.
There's a path to a plain road
Where I'll find God's rock.

Awake my soul.
And, no longer droop in sin.
What is holy flows within!
With Light, I am made whole.

2 Nephi 4

THE SECOND BOOK OF NEPHI
CHAPTER 4
Lehi counsels and blesses his posterity—
He dies and is buried—Nephi glories in
the goodness of God to him—Nephi puts his
trust in the Lord forever.
Between 588 and 570 B.C.
16 Behold, my soul delighteth in the
things of the Lord; and my heart pondereth
continually upon the things which I have
seen and heard.
17 Nevertheless, notwithstanding the great
goodness of the Lord, in showing me his
great and marvelous works, my heart exclaimeth:
wretched man that I am! Yea, my heart
sorroweth because of my flesh; my soul grieveth
because of mine iniquities.
18 I am encompassed about, because of the
temptations and the sins which do so easily
beset me.
19 And when I desire to rejoice, my heart
groaneth because of my sins; nevertheless,
I know in whom I have trusted.
20 My God hath been my support; he hath
led me through mine afflictions in the
wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon
the waters of the great deep.
21 He hath filled me with his love,
even unto the consuming of my flesh.
22 He hath confounded mine enemies,
unto the causing of them to quake before me.
23 Behold, he hath heard my cry by day,
and he hath given me knowledge by visions
in the night-time.
24 And by day have I waxed bold in
mighty prayer before him; yea, my voice
have I sent up on high; and angels came
down and ministered unto me.
25 And upon the wings of his Spirit
hath my body been carried away upon
exceedingly high mountains. And mine eyes
have beheld great things, yea, even too
great for man; therefore I was bidden
that I should not write them.
26 O then, if I have seen so great things,
if the Lord in his condescension unto
the children of men hath visited men
in so much mercy, why should my heart
weep and my soul linger in the valley
of sorrow, and my flesh waste away,
and my strength slacken, because of mine
afflictions?
27 And why should I yield to sin,
because of my flesh? Yea, why should I
give way to temptations, that the evil
one have place in my heart to destroy my
peace and afflict my soul? Why am I
angry because of mine enemy?
28 Awake, my soul! No longer droop in
sin. Rejoice, O my heart, and give place
no more for the enemy of my soul.
29 Do not aanger again because of mine
enemies. Do not slacken my strength because
of mine afflictions.
30 Rejoice, O my aheart, and cry unto the
Lord, and say: O Lord, I will praise thee
forever; yea, my soul will rejoice in thee,
my God, and the rock of my salvation.
31 O Lord, wilt thou aredeem my soul? Wilt
thou deliver me out of the hands of mine enemies?
Wilt thou make me that I may shake at the
appearance of sin?
32 May the gates of hell be shut continually
before me, because that my heart is broken and
my spirit is contrite! O Lord, wilt thou not
shut the gates of thy righteousness before me,
that I may walk in the path of the low valley,
that I may be strict in the plain road!
33 O Lord, wilt thou encircle me around in the
robe of thy righteousness! O Lord, wilt thou make
a way for mine escape before mine benemies! Wilt
thou make my path straight before me! Wilt thou
not place a stumbling block in my way—but that
thou wouldst clear my way before me, and hedge not
up my way, but the ways of mine enemy.
34 O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust
in thee forever. I will not put my trust in the arm of
flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his
trust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that
putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm.
35 Yea, I know that God will give liberally to
him that asketh. Yea, my God will give me, if I bask
not amiss; therefore I will lift up my voice unto thee;
yea, I will cry unto thee, my God, the rock of my
righteousness. Behold, my voice shall forever ascend
up unto thee, my rock and mine everlasting God. Amen.

Traces

My body bears traces of whom I'm yet to be
I can discover talents of divine quality
Then my Spirit will soar as I learn unique purpose
Though crossroads yield temptations- as Satan chases us

My body bears traces of what I was in my youth
Yet my Lord, He erases the pain of sin, this is truth
It's my Spirit that soars though there's disease, just the same
Pain and sorrow, He bears- when I cry out in His name

We must train up each child to be prepared for trials
With Celestial Self-Esteem one faces them with smiles
Through patience and long suff'ring we have much yet to learn
And, those distant traces cause us to strive and to yearn

Though we are forgiven, when we repent, the consequence can
still remain. We are free to make choices, we are not free to
choose the consequences. We must learn in our youth what ways
we will be tempted, how to resist evil, how to hold to the rod,
how to recognize the Spirit and have deep gratitude
for the atonement, how to repent, and how to forgive.

2Nephi 28:15,16, 20-22
1. Pride in our hearts (arrogance, self-centeredness, bragging).
2. False doctrines (false teachers, false religions).
3. Whoredoms (immorality, immodesty, lust, passions).
4. Reviling that which is good (mockery of God, religion, chastity, or marriage).
5. Anger at good (persecution of the righteous).
6. Carnal or worldly security (excessive desire for money or other worldly possessions).
7. Flattery (insincere praise).
8. Deception and lies (claiming there is no God, devil, sin, or hell)

Aaronic Priesthood Manual 3,
Lesson 5: “How Art Thou Fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer”

Feed My Lambs

In Galilee, our dear resurrected Lord,
Prepared a meal and waited in the dawn.
As the disciples drew near to the shore,
He called out where to cast their nets upon.

And, when their nets more than filled, how they rushed.
It was their Lord who stood by with a hot meal!
He taught them how to feed, that love is a must.
For, when lambs are fed, God's Light warms and fills.

In the Latter Days we are known as well as numbered.
And the Lord's tenderest lambs, are within reach.
We can help them feel and know they are remembered.
Through faithfulness we've the capacity to teach.

As new lambs enter the baptismal waters,
Our Lord prepares a meal for us and waits.
For when we are nourished with words from our Father.
We are able to strengthen those in need of faith.

We can and must nourish with all our hearts.
To show our gratitude for the Lord's meal.
For unto all, He grants- and His love imparts.
As through care, the tender lamb's hearts are filled.

That, when the storms beat down upon the last days.
We will not get lost in the darkness and whirlwinds.
The Shepherd's flock can gather, each in their place.
As the power of heaven pours as the sword descends. 2 Ne. 26: 5

2 Ne. 26: 5
5 And they that kill the prophets, and the saints
the depths of the earth shall swallow them up,
saith the Lord of Hosts; and mountains shall cover
them, and whirlwinds shall carry them away, and
buildings shall fall upon them and crush them to
pieces and grind them to powder.

Come Sunday

When all is suddenly dark
With sadness bleak and stark
I picture a gray Friday
When all hope felt to be in vain.

For, Our Lord was upon a cross.
And, for mankind, all seemed lost.
The earth shook and darkness grew.
What were the Saints then to do?

And, too, the temple was rent.
Where holy prayers could be sent.
The Son of Heav'nly Father
No more to walk on water.

He tortured and killed, what grave sorrow.
Gone was their hope of a bright tomorrow.
Gone was the hope of being saved
From the bondage that Rome had paved

That Friday was the darkest
In history. No joy could be harnessed
Devastating sorrow gnawed.
As deep in their souls it clawed.

Their beloved Savior had died.
But, suddenly word came, their tears dried.
The worst doom could not endure.
Eternal Life was now assured!

The glorious Lord was now raised.
They cried when upon Him they gazed.
Though dark days come. We've Fridays.
Bright days await. We've Sundays.

For us in Heaven there is a place.
There is a Lord offering grace.
He lives! We will see His face,
Feel His marks, and Him embrace!
