You- Breathe Out Gratitude

If a gathering storm of envy
Is growing more dark and heavy;
Vain imaginings can get worse
Do something so this will disperse:

Blow off a little steam.
Run! Or walk. For yourself, dream.
Believe you will go far.
Give thanks for who you are.

Invest more in who you are
In your grooming
How you stand
At your core- you're a child of God
Read His Word
Love is grand!

Breathe out gratitude
Share your joy often
Breathe in God is good
Let your heart soften

Remember
Less is more
And give thanks
You've the Lord

[Verse 1] If a gathering storm of envy Is growing more dark and heavy Vain imaginings can get worse Do something so this will disperse Blow off a little steam Run! Or walk. For yourself, dream [Pre-Chorus] Believe you will go far Give thanks for who you are Invest more in who you are In your grooming How you stand [Chorus] Breathe out gratitude Breathe out gratitude Breathe in God is good Let your heart soften Remember, less is more And give thanks You've the Lord (Breathe out gratitude) [Verse 2] At your core, you're a child of God Read His Word Love is grand! When the old doubts crowd your mind Turn your face to the Father Leave the spite behind Keep your hands open Keep your step kind And the road clears [Pre-Chorus] Believe you will go far Give thanks for who you are Invest more in who you are In your grooming How you stand [Chorus] Breathe out gratitude Breathe out gratitude Breathe in God is good Let your heart soften Remember, less is more And give thanks You've the Lord (Breathe out gratitude) [Bridge] When envy comes to press you down Stand up gentle, stay unbowed You are not what fear has spun You are seen, and you are loved Read His Word Then move along Light in hand And heart made strong [Chorus] Breathe out gratitude Breathe out gratitude Breathe in God is good Let your heart soften Remember, less is more And give thanks You've the Lord (Breathe out gratitude)

Jeffrey R. Holland, explores the destructive nature of envy and the internal struggle it creates. Below is a summary of the key themes discussed:

The Nature of Envy: The speaker describes envy as a pervasive sin that is rarely admitted (0:00-0:24). It is characterized by resenting the virtues, talents, and joys of others, often leading to a distorted view where we feel smaller when we perceive others as "growing larger" (0:24-0:49).
The World’s Influence: Modern life constantly bombards us with messages suggesting we are not enough—that we lack sufficient wealth, beauty, or experiences (0:56-1:35). The speaker likens this feeling to being trapped in a "great and spacious building" focused on "vain imaginations" (1:35-1:51).
A Different Perspective from God: In contrast, the speaker emphasizes that God does not measure, rank, or compare His children against one another. His love is infinite and generous; providing compassion to one does not require denying it to another (1:51-2:24).
The Internal Struggle: The video highlights the difficulty of internalizing this divine love in a world obsessed with competition. Seeing others praised or rewarded often triggers self-doubt and feelings of being "less praiseworthy" (2:42-3:13).
The Purpose of the Commandment: The speaker concludes that while many commandments exist to protect others, the commandment not to covet is uniquely designed to protect ourselves from a resentful, demeaning view of both God and our own worth (3:13-3:45).
