There is Nothing Quite Like It

There is nothing quite like
Seeing a family grow
In faith, hope, truth, and light
And to the temple GO!

The Mission and Ministry of the Savior:A Discussion with Elder Russell M. Nelson 2005

Polished

We become polished and bright
As we help the gospel roll forth
Delighting in what is right
We testify of our dear Lord

Find the Law that Pertains

If you want a certain blessing

Find the law that pertains

And live it while stressing

Obedience SUSTAINS

All His laws are constant
They govern, bless, and fulfill

Put the Lord First

Put the Lord first as you ride
The road of conflicts that abound
Be not the one to confide
You've one foot dragging on the ground

I Want to be a Disciple

I want to be a disciple
And serve the Lord all my days
I want to live and teach the gospel
And love as He does, always

Along the Shore

Through the highs and lows that tide
Along the shifting shore
Feel the echoes of all time
Preparing you for more

May you stand firm as a rock
Guided by Christ's light
From truth , may you never walk
But do what is right.

Private Time

Give yourself some private time
And ask, "What do I truly want?"
Then commit to live your life
Aligned with goals up front.

This was lifesaving advice for me years ago. I had not been by myself - away- to just listen, ponder my whole life and my trapped state. Counseling is a way back to find yourself and to get back on your path.
I sat in the countryside and heard sounds of my childhood. Birds, wind, nature and found healing and peace.

It Makes All the Difference

It makes all the difference
To have a temple within distance
THE Lord's temple has sealing power
Here blessings eternally shower

Apostle

The Bible word, apostle
Means one who is sent forth
The world over to travel
And witness of the Lord

They help the Saints endure
And regulate church affairs
They keep the doctrine pure
 Lest apostasy occurs

The Room

Words cannot say what the room became
as the warmest love filled each heart.
Light beamed a bloom as the spirit came-
And we felt heaven impart!

Angels for Such a Time as This

We heard that you are dearly ill .
We are getting the word out.
For faith and prayers are truly real.
May you feel angels about.

For my dear sister in law, Erin

may the doctors be guided every step of the way.
And may you know that as they treat you we pray, we pray, we pray.

For Such a Time as This

Esther looked oft beyond the gate
And Mordechai, her father, did likewise
Neither would forget that date
When last they looked into each other's eyes

Her perfect virtue had placed her within
The inner court as the worthy Queen
Her purpose had been unknown when
It was revealed she should go before the King

Now this was forbidden save an invite
But the Jewish people's lives were at risk!
She pondered the horror of her plight,
Set forth a fast, and prepared for "such a time as this"

Every Jewish man, woman, and child
Prayed the King would not raise his sceptored hand
She went as one steadfast and mild
And humbly bid the King to understand

Courage

Be bold, collect your courage
And all that is best in you
Hold true to all you cherish
Your faith will see you through

Courage

Brothers, born in a war-zone
Found in a shoebox with no identiy
Infants, hands and feet- they had none
And depended on charity

They thought they had seen an angel
When their mum stepped in the room
Her love for them so special
Everything about them now does bloom

When Jews Become Christians

When Jews become Christians
Their culture adds to light
Merging knowledge begins
To impart more insight

Our Deliverer becomes but more
Of who we want to be
Through the culture of days of yore
This we can better see

Every woman has a story, every story can create change

Every woman has a story
And a lesson to exchange
For her place in history
To create a lasting change

Rise Above Control

Rise above this moment
You feel a need to control
Seek the Lord's atonement
And focus on your own role

Wrong choices- we all make
They refine us as we learn
There's a better path to take
As unto Jesus we turn

Every Week

Every week I feel
To repent and partake
The sacrament heals
As sins I forsake

Lord You are the Smile

You are the smile
That lives in my heart
Through every trial
You lift and impart

The Game of Life

The game of life
Like chutes and ladders
Is full of strife
And challenge matters

Backsliding can thwart
What struggle has gained
The climber finds comfort
When progress is obtained

Words inspired by someone who hates poetry.  Should I give it to her anyway?

Framing America- Religion and Family

Ever since the Pilgrims
Colonized this great land
Freedom of religion
Has framed this country grand!

Limiting government and laws,
Around rights we are born with;
Allowing man to define God
Through our conscience ours to live.

The family ere since defined
Creation's at the forefront.
As new motions have combined
Each change we must confront!

For who is better to help this land
Than the husband and the wife?
Who'll raise children to understand
Values upon which we all thrive?

Prosperity's future
Depends on integrity.
Our children we must tutor
To stand for liberty!

Prosperity's future
Depends on righteousness
Letting God's laws tutor
Will secure this land His!
.

May Light Rest Upon You

May light rest upon you
That trying shadows flee
May faith frame you anew
Built up with charity

May light burst upon you
And call what's dark away
May inspiration come too
And teach you well, this day

As gold is refined
And made pure by fire
Our God has designed
Each test to inspire

May you walk in sunshine
Made bright by your faith
May you exercise virtue
That your light never fade

Faithfulness in Times of Trial: "From the Shadows into the Glorious Sunshine."

Angel Baby of Mine

 Angel baby of mine,

I feel your smile each day.

As a heavenly sign,

you are never far away.

Samantha would have been eight today- a still born.  It was a trying day. My niece had an epidural that went straight to her brain and her heart stopped and she was put on a respirator.  She could have died as well! She inspired this poem.

God cares for you

I found faith for winning
A whole new trend
I began repenting
Through hope, my friend

The downward spiral
Was then reversed
To upwards cycle
Through faith rehearsed

Refined Gold

Refined gold
Is the sweat of the sun
It shines bold
As afflictions are won

It is inert
And does not react
But does conduct
Power to act

Gold is inert and doesn't react.
It conducts electricity
It is a perfect reflector of infrared

Adopt a Theme

To live by
Let it lead
As a bright guide

Create your day
Ere it starts
Have faith, pray
That light imparts

Sunset

It never fails
As the sun lies low
Its full light pails
To a warm glow

The barren ground
Becomes inviting
Colors abound
Some, igniting

Serve God Acceptably with Reverence and Godly Fear

It is not enough
To just be reverent
We ought to rise up
Faithfully observant
In all we have come to know
About our living God
We let  admiration flow
When we show respect and awe

"It is not enough to behave reverently; we must feel in our hearts reverence for our Heavenly Father and our Lord, Jesus Christ. reverence flows from our admiration and respect for Deity. Those who are truly reverent are those who have paid the price to know the glory of the Father and His Son."

People Need to Know

People need to feel that God knows and loves them.
Through our helping hands the heavens shine wide open.

The extensive work by LDS Charities to improve women’s lives worldwide is being discussed in an event at the United Nations in New York City today, 6 March 2013.

None Were with Him - An Apostle's Easter Thoughts on Christ

Jesus shouldered alone
The burden of our salvation
He knew He would atone
And furthered His preparation!

But, could even He, perceive what lay at hand
To suffer intellectually and  physically;
Could He fully anticipate the demand
On Him both emotionally and spiritually?

That concluding descent
Into paralyzing dispair
With all our sins present
Ever there is naught to compare!

The divine withdrawal
Into ultimate loneliness
When He cried, "My God, My God!"
In utter forsakenness

Certainly the once wide circle
Of support, narrowed but more
Till He was the loneliest of all people
Without companionship or comfort

This lonely journey back to the Father
Required that all of this be so
All of our human frailties to gather
That every affliction, He would know

What it is like to sin
He who had never spoken ill
Or touched an unclean thing
Had to know how we as humans feel

Then finally, and mercifully
Against all odds it was finished
Where death had once held sway fully
His resurrection was witnessed!

He bought joyful, spiritual redemption
At a price that we cannot fathom
Offering mercy, without exception
The Savior paid, in full, our ransom

Because Jesus walked this long
Lonely path all alone
He can make right every wrong
And for each one of us atone

This great consolation to know
Is for every heart to seek
Let it never again be so
That He is alone Easter week

Passover Thursday with its Paschal Lamb
Atoning Friday with its cross
Resurrection Sunday with its empty tomb
May we remember at all cost

May we declare ourselves to be
His disciples for always
In deed, courage, and in faith may we
Stand by Him in all ways

In all times and in all things
And in all places even unto death
For He did so alone, suffering
Entirely and utterly alone unto death

Justin Williams The Prayer

The prayers of this man
Must have been great
As he left home from Spain
Cancer, his fate

His mission cut short
Years passed now hear his voice
Offer up comfort
In the language of prayer and rejoice!

I Would that I Not Shrink

I would that I not shrink
From this bitter cup to drink
For I would much rather die than be a quitter
As life's lessons would be lost, both sweet and bitter

Thus swallowed up in the will
Of the Father, His works to fulfill
I submitted to all of the pain
Recognizing the greater goal to gain

My Name Is Hope by Debbie West Coon, Captured Miracles by Helen Thomas R...

Miracles offer up hope,
And comfort- we are known
They renew our strength to cope
As The Lord's love is shown

My Name Is Meth

My Name Is "Meth"

I destroy homes, I tear families apart,
take your children, and that's just the start.
I'm more costly than diamonds, more precious than gold,
The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.

If you need me, remember I'm easily found,
I live all around you - in schools and in towns
I live with the rich; I live with the poor,
I live down the street, and maybe next door.

I'm made in a lab, but not like you think,
I can be made under the kitchen sink.
In your child's closet, and even in the woods,
If this scares you to death, well it certainly should.

I have many names, but there's one you know best,
I'm sure you've heard of me, my name is crystal meth.
My power is awesome; try me you'll see,
But if you do, you may never break free.

Just try me once and I might let you go,
But try me twice, and I'll own your soul.
When I possess you, you'll steal and you'll lie,
You do what you have to -- just to get high.

The crimes you'll commit for my narcotic charms
Will be worth the pleasure you'll feel in your arms, your lungs your nose.
You'll lie to your mother; you'll steal from your dad,
When you see their tears, you should feel sad.

But you'll forget your morals and how you were raised,
I'll be your conscience, I'll teach you my ways.
I take kids from parents, and parents from kids,
I turn people from God, and separate friends.

I'll take everything from you, your looks and your pride,
I'll be with you always -- right by your side.
You'll give up everything - your family, your home,
Your friends, your money, then you'll be alone.

I'll take and take, till you have nothing more to give,
When I'm finished with you, you'll be lucky to live.
If you try me be warned - this is no game,
If given the chance, I'll drive you insane.

I'll ravish your body, I'll control your mind,
I'll own you completely, your soul will be mine.
The nightmares I'll give you while lying in bed,
The voices you'll hear, from inside your head.

The sweats, the shakes, the visions you'll see,
I want you to know, these are all gifts from me.
But then it's too late, and you'll know in your heart,
That you are mine, and we shall not part.

You'll regret that you tried me, they always do,
But you came to me, not I to you.
You knew this would happen, many times you were told,
But you challenged my power, and chose to be bold.

You could have said no, and just walked away,
If you could live that day over, now what would you say?
I'll be your master, you will be my slave,
I'll even go with you, when you go to your grave.

Now that you have met me, what will you do?
Will you try me or not? It's all up to you.
I can bring you more misery than words can tell,
Come take my hand, let me lead you to hell.

This is powerful. I think that it should be posted in every school.
In the email that this was poem was attached to it was said that it was written by a young Indian girl who was in jail for drug charges, and was addicted to meth, and that she wrote this while in jail. She was released from jail, but, true to her story, the drug owned her. They found her dead not long after, with the needle still in her arm.

Not an Easy Feat

The pioneers made the desert blossom
As a rose, fragrant, full, and sweet
They applied faith to every problem
None of which was an easy feat
Posted: 27 Feb 2013 08:00 AM PST
"Just as the pioneers made the desert blossom as a rose, so too our lives and families will blossom if we follow their example and embrace their traditions. Yes, pioneer faith is needed as much in the world today as in any period of time. Once again, we need to know that heritage. We need to teach it, we need to be proud of it, and we need to preserve it."
