Raising The Flag

The American flag unites us all
with a hope that sets us apart.
Of honor, our rights, it waves forth to call
and stirs aspirations within our hearts.

No matter what we must go through,
no matter where we have been,
it raises our heads, high, anew
with fresh courage to begin...

It reminds us of commitments
and that of our servicemen,
To our minds, freely, it comments
"Good always wins in the end"
(For God always wins in the end)

Personally, it will always remind me
of a picture of Demara standing outside our home after Adam died and
of our forever folded flag,
of two of our boys becoming eagles,
of flag raising with my cub scouts,
and of Mitt along with others saying our pledge at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library as invited, honored guests.
