The Dated Notepad

I get a dated notepad
Each year as a present
It's then passed around and
Signed by those present

As to say "hi" on their birthday
They write something to me
In this the simplest way
I'm found remembering

Each birthday's a surprise!
Already... it is here?
Then to the phone I rise
And surprise them with a cheer
