It Was a Day Like All Days

It was a day like all days
When my family friend died
One minute he was okay
Then the news came- I thought they lied

For his voice- I could still hear
Echoing in my mind
He'd been so familiar and dear
His words so helpful to find

"And that's the way it is"
There is 'no rest of the story' at breast
Those old profound messages I'll miss
For he was so much better than the rest

So my dad may have looked like Walter Cronkite
But I am thinking of Paul Harvey in the last stanza
both had great eyebrows and were so well known
oops

For they were so much better than the rest
