I Found a Peaceful Grove
I found a nearby grove
And knelt there all alone
It was quiet, still with peace
Save some rustling of the leaves
I'd been pondering a question
And sought out this seclusion
That I might utter aloud a prayer
To know which church was of God and where
But, then darkness overcame me
It was thick and enveloping
And I all but collapsed
As a dark power grasped
My tongue felt as though bound
As I could not make a sound
I exerted all I could to pray
And unto doom I almost gave way
Then just at the moment of utmost alarm
I was preserved and saved from harm
For instead of utter destruction
I saw what defies all description
Above me the Father and the Son!
In brightness beyond that of noon sun...
Giving answer to my questions
While schooling me with directions
Since this day I've never been the same
For I know why I pray to God in Christ's name
And of this truth we each can know:
Prayers are attended to as they flow
For we can be magnified by God's power
As the heavens open up if we don't cower
May we seek to receive answers with care
As we humbly petition aloud and share
thoughts after reading
Opening the Heavens
