I Touched the Temple

I touched the temple
And it touched me
It was so simple
Yet, so touching

I thought of those
Who had placed each stone
Now do you suppose
That I was alone?

I saw a child
Hug the vast wall
And then he smiled
At naught at all

I saw a man
Who leaned closely
He looked so tired
At days closing

I saw a girl
Watching her feet
While stooped and curled
Where two walls meet

Just to touch there of
One can attest
It's a place of love,
Safety, and rest

Someday I'll enter
Pray it be soon
Unto endeaveor
Bright as day noon

Through the sacred doors
People come and go
Of what they feel in there
I want to know
---------------------------

The promise of peace
In the House of the Lord
Does ever so please
For it ever restores

  1. I thought it was a beautiful poem, Kelly. Not only was it a literal translation of what you felt, but a spiritual and metaphorical euphorism that could be translated into a thousand different meanings. You touched the temple, Kelly, and my heart.
