The Mother's Child Safe from Harm

The small babe safe in mother's arms
Coos and smiles with much charm
And lights the room up, with sweet love
This precious cargo from above

With pats to the back, ever soft
The baby yawns and then nods off
To then become still, unto rest
Tucked securely at mother's breast

As sweet little sounds then begin
A measure of love stirs within
And mother, content, drifts to sleep
In peaceful slumber yet watch keep
