Come with me on a journey
You've a short time to prepare
But, know you'll mostly need
Food supplies to get you there
As we've no plans to return
You must say your goodbyes
Though feelings in you may churn
You must sever all worldly ties
We will pass all the highways
To make a path in the dirt
Watch how heavy your load weighs
We'll cross the great desert
If you bring someone with you
They must promise not to cry
They must walk and listen, too
And not murmur and ask why...
See the challenge of Lehi?
Who, once warned in a dream
Took his family along the Sinai
Like Moses, it would seem
How oft they forgot this rule:
That they must be obedient
Then a lack of food would school
For God gave them each ingredient
With a liahona and the scriptures
He gave them daily directions
For food and the path that assures
They must pass righteousness inspections
They wandered for many years
In the wilderness of sand
Then to a beach- there were cheers
But, it was not the promised land
Beyond the great ocean
Lay their hopes of a future
And through faithful submission
They journeyed on to adventure
But, days into the voyage
There was an uprising
And those on the sinful edge
Soon, saw the sea a rising
They must pray to stay alive
And, thus they did relent
And from this, we too derive
It's important to repent
From Lehi's life we're aware
Of our dependence on God
How we're in need of His care
To lead us near and abroad
