Everywhere People Scurry

Everywhere people scurry
In a seemingly endless stream
Life lived in such a hurry
Distracts us from our dream

Then comes the time of crisis
When life's candle wanes and dims
There to realize the prices
Of love, as each new tear brims

Oh, the questions we embrace
While searching for heaven's peace
Amongst the distance of space
Surely, a divine answer will appease?

A moment of contemplation
And, how the memories flood
Upon life's uttermost creations
The children- our future's dear lifeblood

The marvel of the perfectly formed child
The tiny toes, the delicate fingers
Such precious cargo turns the heart mild
For in their eyes, heaven's view still lingers

Now the soul at peace is filled with love
Warmed by feelings ever so tender
And, then, a longing to travel above
For the promise of rest, and newness to enter

thoughts from
President Thomas S. Monson's
Book An Invitation to Exaltation
