Labor Day Prayer and Thanksgiving

Heavenly Father, how we labor

And grow more heavy laden

Not just for us we pray for

But, for the family haven

As the world expands with light

New careers have opened up

Our work demands both day and night

And our time, we've not enough

Our Father, on this holiday

Made free from labor's call

We give thanks to Thee, this day

For incomes, great and small

Still, Thou has given us great minds

And strong backs to bear the load

And it's only our family that minds

For we are needed in our homes

Help us more appreciate

We've safety and health providers

Many sacrifice so much

As crime and addictions grow higher

Our Father, on this holiday

Made free from labor's call

We give thanks to Thee, this day

For incomes, great and small

Let us honor one another

For the labors that we do

Prosper us as we more labor

Fill our hearts with gratitude

Let bosses lead with fairness

And workers show integrity

When we see needs amongst us

Father, help us give with charity

Ease the loads upon our backs

Let us see Thy hand in all things

Help the unemployed find work

For the independence it brings
