How on earth does a glider rise to soar the sky?
I inquire, "when and how?" for I would like to try
Find the rising air and stay within it's lift
Learn to sense the sink of a downward drift
Then, thoughts come, "I can spiritually soar
I can see glorious things and explore!
Under the influence of the holy ghost
I can steer to where I feel the lift the most!"
I can follow others uplifted in joy
And lead another so they may enjoy
I can heed the warning of a slow descent
Sense, spiritually, and turn where the lift is sent
As sure as the wind can lift a glider wing
We have the spirit, what blessings it does bring
Even to know our Savior and His love He is offering
Even to soar with joy unto forever more, gloriously
[Verse 1] How does a glider rise and soar above the land? I ask, “When and how?” and hope to understand. Find the rising air and hold within its lift; Learn to feel the downward pull, the sinking drift. [Verse 2] Then comes a thought: “I, too, can spiritually soar; See glorious things, discover evermore. Under the influence of the Holy Ghost, I’ll steer toward the place where I can feel the lift the most.” [Chorus] I can follow those uplifted into joy, And lead another, so they may enjoy. I’ll heed the warning when the path descends, Sense the Spirit’s guidance, turn where rising air begins. [Verse 3] As surely as the wind can raise a glider’s wing, The Spirit brings its blessings, steady as a spring. We come to know our Savior, and the love He freely gives; In His grace, our hearts take flight, and hope within us lives. [Final Chorus] I can follow those uplifted into joy, And lead another, so they may enjoy. I’ll heed the warning when the path descends, Sense the Spirit’s guidance, turn where rising air begins. We come to know our Savior, and the love He freely gives; In His grace, our hearts take flight, and hope within us lives.
