Blessed Are the Peacemakers

You don't have to win a debate

Or be the loudest in a crowd

You don't have to promote hate

Or stand tall over those who shout

Blessed are the peacemakers

Do no think of them as weak

It takes a lot of restraint

To breathe and politely speak

Reconcile adverse positions

Listen to the issues at hand

Work towards negotiations

Pause and seek first to understand

Know that we are all children of God

Seek a divine vision where peace is found

You don't have to compromise core values

Find and build friendships on common ground

Let them know they matter

That you see the good within

Help them get past anger

Find a common goal, begin

Matthew 5: 9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. 10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
