Solomon's Crown- Wisdom Alone is Not Enough

Pray the Spirit speaks to you

Humbly listen as I talk

Ask for wisdom. Read.  Pursue.

Seek to be both fed and taught:

King Solomon loved the Lord

God's house, his palace, what a sight!

Such wisdom! As never seen before!

His judgment turned all things aright!

His fame ended, tragically

As he fell away from his call

Unwisely, declining morally

This is a message for us all

Caught up by the praise of men

Even the Lord's brightest soul

Can be overshadowed by sin

And forget who put him in that role

"Divide the child in half," he shared

When an infant two mothers claimed

His wisdom cut through to emotion

The true mother would want her child saved!

He penned three thousand Proverbs

And composed one thousand songs

Comprehending all that life offers

Helping the quarrelers and the distraught

His wisdom was as measureless

As the sands of the seashore

Wise, beyond himself none the less

For himself he chose to ignore

Wisdom alone is not enough

We all have need of something more

To follow through when times are tough

Obeying the will of the Lord

His heart became tainted by his wives

As a world renown builder none could rival

His loyalty to God was corrupted by their world

For he built shrines and altars for their idols

He made space for their God's in his heart

The very ones at one time Israel destroyed

With his mind much clouded, his fall did start

Compromising his covenants as with evil he toyed

Is it any wonder that one day the temple was destroyed?

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."

What is your favorite Proverbs verse?

Here is a great video to watch. Yes one of the idols required child sacrifices. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hyqaGh7qYk
