A Pocket Full of Dreams

I always tell friends, to write a tribute and maybe it will touch me to write a poem.  Now I use AI and the poems come to life.  Vic's telling of his father, his hero, is so touching!

You made a better life for us

Leaving Italy and crossing the ocean blue

With a sixth grade education

and a pocket full of dreams to do

You were your effervescent self

Four years ago we could talk

Four months the words stopped

At four weeks you couldn't walk

Four days ago you went to sleep

And you never woke up

You were the smartest man I know

You filled my life with love

And how  I miss you so

You will always be my hero

[Verse 1] You made a better life for us Leaving Italy And crossing the ocean blue With a sixth grade education And a pocket full of dreams to do You were your effervescent self [Verse 2] Four years ago we could talk Four months the words stopped At four weeks you couldn't walk Four days ago you went to sleep And you never woke up You were the smartest man I know [Chorus] You will always be my hero You will always be my hero How I miss you so How I miss you so [Verse 3] You filled my life with love In the way you looked at me In the way you held the line You taught me how to stand up straight And how to keep my heart in time Even now I hear your laugh [Bridge] I carry you in every room In every meal, in every prayer Your hands are in the work I do Your voice is still right there If I could give you one more day I would say the words I should have said [Chorus] You will always be my hero You will always be my hero How I miss you so How I miss you so [Outro] You made a better life for us And I will tell it true You will always be my hero I will always carry you
