Orienting Ourselves to Christ

If only I had eyes that

Could see as Christ sees

to then love my fellow man

even my enemies

If only my poor heart felt

The forgiveness He lent

 All those with hatred who delt

Judgment and punishment 

If only my ears could hear

The hurt that He hears

When enemies near

Their troubles behind the sneers

If only I could sense some

Of what our Savior does

Like Him I want to become

Because of how He loves us

I can train my eyes 

More upon His Word

Discern truth from lies

Through His message heard

I can much better sense 

What He would have me do

Through prayer, that's consistent

For He fills me with His love,  too

I can much better love

Even my enemies

When I want to shout, "Enough!"

I can use words of peace
