He Could Have Carved His Own Cross

He could have carved His own cross, Magnificent for bearing
But His work, was the Father's, He carried His gospel selflessly sharing

He could have carved His own sign, telling the world who He is
But He came, not for Himself, but to honor the Father- to please Him

He could have made His own crown, fit for a king, for wearing
But He came, not for nations, but to show souls their worth, caring

He didn't even carve His own tomb, a place to honor the dead
Now, in Heaven, He is making room for mansions, for us instead

What He did carve is the path, for each of us...the Way!
Where He promises His Spirit to prepare us for the perfect day

[Chorus]
Truly He was the perfect lamb
Sacrificed to atone
Willing to submit to all things
It was His to do, alone

[Bridge]
Do we remember how He suffered?
Do we think of him on the cross?
Do we thank Him for what is offered?
Do we proclaim Him no matter the cost?

[Chorus]
Truly He was the perfect lamb
Sacrificed to atone
Willing to submit to all things
It was His to do, alone

His composure
His selflessness,
His compassion
His pure kindness
