Magnitude of Debt

Rereading Andrew Skinner's The Savior's Final Week- a trilogy of the 3 gardens. I have never gotten past Gethsemane., as I decided to start from the beginning again.

 The sinless Son of Man

 Burst the bands of death

We'll never understand

The magnitude of our debt

At the heart of the Atonement

All our suffering and sins

Were transferred upon Him

Hence, His sacred roll begins

Death- the thought is painful

Recall we all do it twice

As to become mortal

We left our Heavenly skies

Experience, to realize

Through the Lord's atonement

Life's bitter becomes sweet

The convicted are uplifted

Such a glorious feat!

Conviction is a prick,

A nudge at our heart

A reminder to repent

For loving peace to start

The agony of redemption

Began in Gethsemane

For naught did He opt "exemption "

Our Savior saves completely

The long night of Gethsemane

Was a victory for history- all alone

But His trial, as the Lamb, was beginning

Yes. He would be punished for all the good He had done!

------------------------------

The cup of gall was filled

By the wickedest in men

But, then it overflowed

By the treachery of  a friend

treachery -noun

  • 1.betrayal of trust; deceptive action or nature

  • -----------------------------------------------
Jesus removes our sins
And the ugly stains they made
He asks us to forgive
And extend what He has paid

------------------------------

When compassion is felt

And there's repentance within

A hardened heart can melt

Through tender mercies given

------------------------------

When confessions are real

And repentance complete

Christ's atonement can heal

What's bitter is made sweet

(How that experience is sweet!)

-------------------------------

We all know the awfulness of sin,

Of trials and tribulation

How dearly Christ paid for our fallen education

Of each state of desperation

--------------------------------

No matter the ways we languish

From confinement, stagnation, neglect

When we feel Christ's love we flourish

God's plan is good and perfect

Ever to encourage and nourish

--------------------------------------

Because of Gethsemane's anguish

Of His compassion's without end

There is no barrier of language

He is all men's eternal friend

--------------------------------

In Christ, we are secure

And we have hope of help

How this does reassure

His Spirit, inside, does dwell

---------------------------

Let not your faith

whither or fade

Pray. It will grow.

Good seeds will sow!

-----------------------

Christ was all in,

In the garden

All our fallen parts

Transferred to Him
