Follow Him in His Shadow

Following the path that Christ took
Is not a cheap experience
In some degree we may have a look
At His pain from our deviance

The road to salvation always goes through
The painful path of Gethsemane
Then there's the shameful climb to Calgary, too
Your grateful lists for Him will be so many

Somewhere in His shadow
We will feel feelings He felt
We will pray prayers He prayed
We will walk where He walked
And we will shed tears He shed

Thoughts from what Elder Holland said to some small group.

[Verse 1] Following the path that Christ took It costs more than we first expect We touch just a trace of His anguish From the weight of our neglect The road that leads to mercy Runs through an olive grove at night Where a trembling cup is offered Under crushing Holy light [Chorus] Somewhere in His shadow We will feel feelings He felt We will pray prayers He prayed Till our stubborn hearts melt We will walk where He walked Under burdens He bled Somewhere in His shadow We will shed tears He shed [Verse 2] There’s a hill that waits past midnight Where the crowd forgets His name Where the Holy One grows weary Climbing up through spit and shame The scars that bought our freedom Mark the place that we must stand Where our thank-you turns to worship As we touch each nail-scarred hand [Chorus] Somewhere in His shadow We will feel feelings He felt We will pray prayers He prayed Till our stubborn hearts melt We will walk where He walked Under burdens He bled Somewhere in His shadow We will shed tears He shed [Bridge] Every step is costly Every “yes” cuts deep But grace keeps walking with us (oh) Grace will never sleep Every wound remembered Turns to living bread Till joy springs up in sorrow From the path our Savior tread [Chorus] Somewhere in His shadow We will feel feelings He felt We will pray prayers He prayed Till our stubborn hearts melt We will walk where He walked Under burdens He bled Somewhere in His shadow We will shed tears He shed
