Keep the Commandments

Spiritually and temporally,
Sinfulness grows to be painful!
Keep the commandments
For they are true and faithful!

Doctrine and Covenants 71:11
Wherefore, keep the commandments;
they are true and faithful.  Even so. Amen.

A Sabbath Song

I woke up this morning
And felt within my heart
That the Sabbath is holy
And truly set apart

This is the Sabbath day
And I intend to rest
I'll put the world away
And life's daily test

The Sabbath is holy
And truly given for us
From morning to evening
I've this day with Jesus

I know this day is given for man
And I will keep it the best that I can!
I'll go to church and prayerfully partake
Of His emblems to renew covenants I made

Here, I seek to repent of my sins
And have the Holy Ghost burn within
This day I am blessed to feel clean again
And renewed for the week to begin

I'll study the words of the living Son
And seek His peace and wisdom to come
Always closing with, "Thy will be done"
Trusting He knows what I should become

Yes the Sabbath day is given for man
That we might slow down and ponder God's plan
How we can live His laws the best that we can?
Renewed, through Jesus, we know where to stand

The Cause

Though persecutions rage
To define what is right
We are anxiously engaged
In the vast cause of Christ

Revisit the Holy Land- Maybe Soon Will Be a Time of Peace?

With sympathy and understanding
We wish to promote a place
For both the Jew and Palestinian
To enjoy a just and lasting peace

Each, being of Father Abraham
This land has been made holy
Ever it will be a prayerful land
For all of his children, wholly

Too, here  Christians, oft land
To reread the Words of Christ,
To walk where He walked, and
Feel His presence and His Light

Meridian Magazine - A Latter-day Saint View of the Conflict in the Holy Land

It is hoped that Latter-day Saints can help provide a bridge of understanding between Arabs and Jews in that troubled region of the Holy Land and that to the extent that we look with sympathy and understanding at both sides, we can be an influence to help bring about a just and lasting peace.

February 28th is a special day where 2 of my poems from 2014 started to be viewed in numbers. I wish I could go back to that day and understand why these 2 poems became my two top viewed today.. I feel so blessed. And the countries that the views come from are unique. (meaning not English speaking)

I have now nearly reached 1.8M views since 2008 and currently with 6968 posts
The top 2 in the last year are

I have had 3.18K in the last 24 hours.  (6/24/25)
It is today's views that blow me away because of the countries.

Silently you read
And what did you learn?
Was your Spirit led?

Did you find what you need?
Did you tell a friend?
Did these words plant a seed
And help you in the end?

The Challenge of Belief

In the beginning
With Adam and Eve
Was contradiction
That challenged belief

 By transgressing
 God's laws in their hearts
 The first family
 Must depart to start

 Not knowing all things
 We come unto truth
 The spirit this brings
 Conviction's proof

 How do you explain
 Your witness as proof?
 To make sacred plain
 Makes light of the truth

 It is in the struggle
 The challenge of faith
 That we become humble
 And receive God's strength

If "this man" had come with an honest heart,
Seeking to "know for himself"
Answers would have come,
The spirit would have helped.

Opposition only strengthens- a renewed faith to show
With the supposer ever searching and never coming to know...
It is not for man to "attack" churches and expose faults
but to seek what good they offer by the truths that are taught.

Based on Mormon Apostle Jeffery R. Holland interview on BBC

The Savior Wants to Forgive

You can shut out the Lord
 But He is still there
 Pray,
You can hear His Word
 And feel His sweet care

Look how wonderful lds.org is. I googled this verse and it came up with cross references!

Mosiah 26: 30 Yea, and as often as my people repent will I forgive them their trespasses against me
.Moro. 6: 8. 8 But as oft as they repented and sought forgiveness, with real intent, they were forgiven.
Ezek. 33: 11 (11, 15-16) 11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
Amos 5: 4 (4-8) 4 ¶ For thus saith the Lord unto the house of Israel, seek ye me, and ye shall live:
Acts 3: 19 (19-20) 19 ¶ repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
2 Ne. 1: 20. 20 And he hath said that: inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall prosper in the land; but inasmuch as ye will not keep my commandments ye shall be cut off from my presence. Mosiah 29: 20. 20 But behold, he did deliver them because they did humble themselves before him; and because they cried mightily unto him he did deliver them out of bondage; and thus doth the Lord work with his power in all cases among the children of men, extending the arm of mercy towards them that put their trust in him.

Conducting Music

 Don't finish a song

Like you dropped a dead bird
To the end be strong
Catch that last long breath, heard

My husband gave me some feedback on leading music.  I just drop my hand like a dead bird at the end of the song, instead of closing my hand in the air...

Reflecting

The mirror can tell
Only so much
Are you sick or well?
It cannot touch
Look into the mirror,
When it's late at night.
You're pale. Not with fever.
Please, turn off the light!

A Loving Patient God

You turned your back on God,
Hurt and offended.
Know that He is not gone!
His arms remain extended!

We'll See

We'll see mountains flee
And waters change their way
If there is a need
And we've the faith to pray
We'll see

You'll see mountains flee
And waters change their way
If there is a need
And you've the faith to pray
You'll see

I'll see mountains flee
And waters change their way
If there is a need
And I've the faith to pray
I'll see

Motley Crew

We're a Motley crew
Just as in Christ's day.
But, He sees in me and you
Potential always!

We're such a Motley
Just as in Jesus's day
But, He sees in me and you
Divine potential, always!

Motley crews are diverse and are in need of organization, prone to making mistakes...And the fact that, in the church, they get amazing things done is a testament to the priesthood of God,  influence of the Holy Ghost and the Light of Christ.

Multifaceted Departure

Old hurts alll add up
And you avoid new pain
And, because you don't feel loved
You forget blessings gained

The heart waxes hard
And the ears become dull
When, God, we discard
And His loving gospel

The tongue starts to judge
Doctrines and others
Your feet will not budge
And everything bothers

Then, the eyes wander
And accept something new
Safer paths to ponder
Goodbye the old you!

Still, like a divorce
A bitter taste remains
And without remorse
Mormonism gets the blame

I know you can't wrap up into a tidy bow all the reasons people leave the church, but these particular thoughts came to mind.
On a brighter note- because Jesus is the Master healer and this poem cannot be over!

Time passes...a thought
Triggers a memory
A lesson you were taught
Redirects your life story

You decide to return
And many welcome you
The Spirit again does burn
And you're restored anew!

We had a return missionary speak about his mission. I love conversion stories! I love seeing the gospel in action with lives being changed!
The elder spoke of someone who wondrously gave up 5 vices IN A DAY to start his journey with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  We all have vices that hold on to us, so it is very encouraging to hear of the gospel completely changing someone! 🙌 ❤️

What news? Iran no longer is a nuclear threat! I wish wonderful changes for this country and its beautiful people.  I remember Iranians flooding American colleges back in the day. I hope a bond between our nations forms again.

The Lord is My Shepherd

I am like a lost sheep, fallen and afraid.
While growing more hopeless on a path I have made!
In an habitual rut without any light
I cry out for help and I hear these words in the night:

"I am thy shepherd and you shall not want
Through my goodness and mercy, you can confront
All the dark paths you have taken and the pits you have made
Come follow me to where redemption is paved!"

I partake of green pastures
Where my Spirit can now hrive
Near a pure stream to treasure
I am so blessed, made alive!

Thankful, I still remember how easy it is to fall
I know I must stay within the shepherd's call
Through His merciful good news I know I am safe
And share with others how I have been saved!

The Lord is my shepherd,
To Him, I belong.
I am thankful I heard...
His pasture I'm on.

Happy Father's Day Heavenly Father

Our Heavenly father smiles upon us
When, good choices, we make
His sees us through tough situations
And offers strength that we not break.

Safe, secure, seen

Happy Father's Day, Heavenly Fatger!

Father Gives Me a Little Boost

Father, you are always there
Giving the nudge I need
Offering a boost till
I can keep going. Lead!

Happy Father's Day

Sad side note: boost is slang for shoplifting??

Answer to a Nation's Slide into Chaos

When chaos overcomes
Efforts to deesculate
A spiritual revival becomes
Our best hope to erase hate

Laws are being toyed with
Amidst civil unrest
Civility can't win when
We don't share how we are blessed

Great Britain is at risk.
France is at risk.
Germany is at risk.
The US is at risk.

You have to be a healthy nation
To take refugees in
When there's no acclimation
Civil unrest begins

The Burden That Won't Let

When we hold on to hurt feelings

It's a burden that won't let

When we forgive there is healing

That frees us up to forget

Tuesday, June 10, 2025

Was It Something I Said?

Was it something I said?
Or something I did?
I sense, from you, hatred.
I hope that's not your intent!
Let's make peace, instead!

Bygones be bygones
We had a good thing!
I wish to right my wrongs
You're such a blessing!
And the Spirit.. I rely on!

Out in the open
Let's clear up the air
It is my hope, then
You're heart, you'll share
Please. For you, I care.
I woke up thinking about my mom and how this feeling she got from a woman who suddenly avoided her. The only common factor was my then teenage daughter, as this was her friends mother. To be honest, my mom's deepening depression made her tender heart sensitive. She felt anxiety about going to church. She felt anxiety about not going to church. BUt, for the duration that she attended, she had a sweet testimony and many friends. Now I understand her deepening depression was dementia. She withdrew herself from others.

Blessed

Each unique crust of bread
Is Christ's body, individually torn for us
That we might be both sanctified and fed
As we remember and seek the Spirit of Jesus

Each cup, prepared and filled,
Represents His sacred blood shed
As He took our woes and sins upon Him
And willfully was sacrificed in our stead

Let us remember all of God's laws, so strict
And joyfully keep the covenants we have made
Faithfully, submitting to the challenges life inflicts
Knowing that for our sins, He has already paid!

Endowed, in the temple wearing
The promise of eternal hope!

The Path Paved for Love

He suffered injustice,
Torture and death, He knows!
Through all suffering, know this:
The path paved for love, He shows!

Original Uniqueness

It is strangely encouraging,
To see the uniqueness of kin.
That while our elders are aging,
They're still building character within.

Ultimately, each fine quality
Defines us to who we truly are.
God's own, born with ability
With a moral compass, as our star.

Each time you witness greatness
This proves that God is real!
Develop your own goodness.
In His light you'll see and feel!

Word of Mouth

Hundreds of shocked Jews
Quickly spred the news
A life had been restored
By Jesus Christ our Lord

Yes, Lazarus did rise
From the dark tomb of death
He opened up his eyes
And took again life's breath

"Is Not This the Fast That I Have Chosen?"

Is not this the fast
That I have chosen
To get past the past
And find growth again?

Never

Never was He known
To turn a deaf ear
Tenderness was shown
To bring the Father near

Power

When you feel powerless
And would to give in,
Seek the Lord, quick to bless.
Humbly pray to Him!

The Need For A Path

When the Savior spoke of staying on the path
It was related to what they knew to be true
For the journey is long and it takes all that you have
And the last thing you want is to lose a shoe!
“And with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.” – Ephesians 6:15

Stick to It

Stick to it
And don't give up
Bit by bit
You'll pass what's tough

Goals

Try to beat
Your personal best!
Goals to meet
Adds challenge and zest!

Let Go

Let go of your guilt
For what's in the past
Repentance is real
And changes can last!

Empathy Tears

Sometimes our tears
Aren't sadness, at all!
Empathy nears
And the tears start to fall!

The Light of Christ

There is Light
In this darkened world.
It's within.
And, it comes from the Lord.

Conscience. Truth.
We both see and feel.
Joy's the proof.
The Light of Christ is real!

Light the fire
That lies within.
Reach up higher,
With faith, begin!

Find your voice.
You're of God. Shine!
Talent? Choice?
Seek light, divine.

There is a Light

There is Light
In this darkened world
It's within
And comes from the Lord

Conscience. Truth.
We both see and feel.
Joy's the proof.
The Light of Christ is real!

Faith, The Next Step

Let your next step
Be full of faith!
A bright path's set
Beyond the dark you face!

Compelling

Compelling reasons
Argue the truth.
Contrary to "evidence ",
Faith's my proof!

Information

Information is everywhere
But what is really true?
Revelation
Is for me and you!

When There's a Need

When there's a need
You'll always find
He's never late
But right on time!

Before

Study His Word
Before your phone
Seek out the Lord
Love will be shown!
