The Martyrdom of Stephen

In gratitude, recount
How the Lord has paved the way.
He knows How trials mount.
Have faith and be unafraid.

Peter and John Heal a Man Crippled Since Birth

The Lord makes much more of us
Than we ever thought
Such that we rise with purpose
Strengthened to do our lot.
Ecclesiastes
5:19 Every man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labour; this is the gift of God.

Peter and John Continue Preaching the Gospel

How can I not
Speak with might?
For I've been taught
In His light.
How can I not
Teach of Christ
That in His name
We do rise!

Don't let venom
Get to your heart
Bite your tongue and
Let it depart

Great message

Just Ask How Can The Story Of The Brother Of Jared Help You?

Need a little light
On the journey?
Kneel to pray and ask
Then, search for what you need.

Picture the Future

Picture you in the future talking to you now!

Here I am, wise in my years,
Sitting in a rocking chair
Speaking to my younger fears
And I have so much to share
If only time could be called back
And I could live without regret
To work on that with which I lack
That which, now, my body won’t let
I would strengthen my core
And spend more time in prayer
Every day I’d do more
To let others know I care

Here are the goals I would share
To my younger self
There is always time to spare
To seek God’s will and help
What are you afraid of?
Progress involves faith
Answer your fears with love
You have doubts to face
Do not hesitate
To work for that goal
Do what motivates
Invest in your soul

Sorry, this is a bit of self-talk and reflection.  I am going back to school and need to focus on getting through this difficult time. There is always something due or a test to study for.  Yikes.
Picture what you will be doing in your old years.  What do you need to do today to help your older years? What is your body telling you to do?  Stretch out? work out?  visit someone? What are you avoiding?
Whys and Hows

Let go of what is stopping you-
Why? Fear- spending money (on school) and of failure/rejection
How? Stop wasting time on the internet.  Be mindful of time. Write down dailies

Get up a little earlier-
Why?  Prepared, on top of things, following priorities.
How? Go to bed by 10:00. Read the scriptures with new purpose. Write out daily goals.

Chunk tasks-
Why? Every little bit adds up. What is read early has time to sink in.
How? Keep papers/ books with you and make flashcards/CDs for walks.

Take care of your body-
Why? Better energy, less stress, more flexibility.
How? Know your stress pattern of running for junk food when you get home. Alternates? Do belly time crunches.

Repentance Is NOT Easy

Repentance is not easy
But the prize is worth the price
The steps may be aplenty
That bring you closer to Christ

Repentance and Conversion
"To repent from sin is not easy. But the prize is worth the price. Repentance needs to be done one step at a time."
—Russell M. Nelson, "Repentance and Conversion", Ensign, May 2007

Vapor

This life is as vapor
That can vanish away
In the Lord's will labor
To rise up on that day

How?

How do we fight the foe?
He dampens light, to grow?
Keep goodness burning bright
In covenant hearts to glow

Armor of God

Care for your armor
Don't set it aside
God is your partner
Let His love abide

Smile

A sunshiny smile
Worked to warm my face
Yes a little child
Is good to embrace

Stress Lines

Each stress in life does pile
And wears upon the face.
So serve and warm a smile.
The weary line erase.

Pain and Humility

Pain disables
And brings you down, low
This enables
Humble thoughts to grow

"Pondering [is] a very important element in the healing process for both soul and body. Pain brings you to a humility that allows you to ponder."
—Robert D. Hales, "Healing Soul and Body", Ensign, November 1998

Face to Face with President Eyring and Elder Holland

Testimony's light
Quickly can grow dim
Keep it burning bright
Tend what burns within

Answers that you really need
Are of the hardest kind
Read and spend time on your knees
And quiet down your mind
This was very inspiring! I hope the next Face to Face is in the Holy Lands.

Word of Wisdom Week

In gratitude for our bodies
This great gift we waited for
We celebrate Word of Wisdom week
To strengthen our core once more

We are celebrating the Word of Wisdom at David O. McKay Academy where I work.  How exciting!

My kinder's lines

With a healthy body, I can

Dig deeper
Carry heavy loads
Stand taller
Jump higher
pray with more faith
gain wisdom
focus
work faster
wake early
Make the most of each day
feed my body what it needs
have self-control
resist temptation
Have the Holy Ghost

Corinthians  3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

D&C 89:2. How Does the Word of Wisdom Show the Will of God in Man’s Temporal Salvation?

In order to receive a fulness of joy, we must strive to be clean and pure, both in mind and in body. Some of the temporal benefits resulting from obedience to the Word of Wisdom are better health and vitality, strength, and endurance (see Brigham Young’s promise in Journal of Discourses, 12:156); greater strength to avoid such physical sins as unchastity (see Grant, Gospel Standards, p. 55); a savings in money not spent on harmful substances (see Grant, Gospel Standards, pp. 50–52); and greater resistance to many of the diseases that attack the body.
The Word of Wisdom is spiritual. It is true that it enjoins the use of deleterious substances and makes provision for the health of the body. But the largest measure of good derived from its observance is in increased faith and the development of more spiritual power and wisdom. Likewise, the most regrettable and damaging effects of its infractions are spiritual, also. Injury to the body may be comparatively trivial to the damage to the soul in the destruction of faith and the retardation of spiritual growth. So I say, every commandment involves a spiritual growth. So I say, every commandment involves a spiritual principle.” (In Conference Report, Apr. 1949, p. 141.)

Bask in the light

Bask in the light
Of the living Son
Let it lead you aright
Learning is never done
_______________
Basking in the sunlight
Soaking it in
I felt love and delight
Thinking of Him

Heaven is so far
Yet God's love reaches here
And touches my heart
And causes me to cheer

I just parked in the temple parking lot and the warmth of the sunshine and joy for being at the temple brought this second poem to me. How wondrous this time is to me!
