Without Water

Without water for days
The condor dropped down to rest.
The desert sun a blaze
had blinded him from his quest.

The part that was the worst
was that he was alone.
With the crust of the earth
he then became red stone.

Valley of Fire stirs the imagination and on the hot day we went I wondered if we might die on our short hike.  We saw very few people.
