Among the Wheat and Tares

Among all the wheat and tares
Who is putting on false airs?
How can you know who is right?
The good fruit grows in God's Light

The tares are in our midst reveling in our pain.
They delight in all sins. Our souls they wish to gain.
Oh, how we need to pray, even for all the tares!
As then we receive strength through the Lord who spares.

[Verse 1] Among all the wheat and tares Who is putting on false airs? How can we know who is right? The good fruit grows in God's light They’re in our midst They’re laughing While we stumble in our shame They delight in every darkness Our souls they long to claim

[Chorus] Oh How we need to pray Even for all the tares As we cry out Your name You remind us You are there Oh How we need Your grace Teach us to love To care For in Your wounded hands You hold both wheat and tares

[Verse 2] Shadows sit beside the faithful Singing all the same old songs But You see beneath the surface You divide the right from wrong Still You call us into mercy While the battle shakes our days Give us strength to keep on standing As You lead us how to pray

[Chorus] Oh How we need to pray Even for all the tares As we cry out Your name You remind us You are there Oh How we need Your grace Teach us to love To care For in Your wounded hands You hold both wheat and tares

So please ask your Heavenly Father for blessings and guidance. Share with Him your hopes, dreams, and desires. But in doing so, make sure that you are not trying to get Him to see things your way. Ask Him to open your eyes to see things His way. That’s when the answers start to flow. That’s when you climb the mountain and begin to see things from a higher perspective—even Heavenly Father’s perspective. “Then shall [your] confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and [light and truth] shall distil upon [your] soul as the dews from heaven” (Doctrine and Covenants 121:45).

  1. God bless you and keep you safe and writing well. Thank you for this poem in particular! We need to pray for all (the tares included) to Come unto Christ if they will. And for the strength to hold fast to and know His love and righteousness in the midst of the atrocities planned by the tares who truly know what they are doing and revel in the blood and sins and depravities of humankind.

  2. I keep thinking about your comment. It was very inspired. Thank you. The tares are in our midst reveling in our pain. They delight in all sins. Our souls they wish to gain. Oh, how we need to pray, even for all the tares! As then we receive strength through the Lord who spares.
