The spirit of contention
Cankers the soul,
Obsesses for attention,
As it takes control.
In the name of freedom
It all but closes doors,
Puts a stop to wisdom,
And combines saboteurs.
Let not opposition
Harden your heart
It's an imposition
Smile and depart
“He that hath the spirit of contention is not of me” (3 Nephi 11:29)
I don't know about you
But it is creepy to see the signs
and hear the comments too
By those with "saving" designs
Doctrinal disputes
Will never come of God
As exchanges abuse
What the other thinks is odd
Agree to disagree
On the narrow path of truth
Celebrate the journey
Let good works be the proof
Always, always pray
To know what path is right
As wisdom comes of faith
Line upon line with light
